Since time is ever moving forward and change is inevitable, the values, tastes and outlook on life are different with each generation. It is this difference that is called a generation gap. This often causes a lack of communication and understanding between the two generations since their view of the world was coloured by how society functioned during their adolescence.

Here are a few causes of generation gap between parents and child:
1. Lack Of Understanding
Different generations sometimes seem to speak a different language. Due to the changes in society from when parents were growing up, to how it is in the time of their children, even their way of thinking and what they deem to be normal tends to be different.

Here are a few tips to help bridge the generation gap between parents and their children:
1. Keep An Open Mind
The way that kids think is different from how parents do. Parents often feel like because they have already been the age their child is currently, that they understand how their child thinks. The truth is, the world and way of life was different then than it is now and their mind-set will be very different and can also be shocking for some parents. This is why keeping an open mind and not assuming that they must be just like you were at their age is very important. You must also understand that there are some things that are acceptable in society and therefore acceptable to your child that may not have been acceptable when you were the same age. It is especially in those areas where parents need to try and keep an open mind so they can better understand their children.
2. Communicate
Making the time to communicate with your kids every day is very important. The simple act of talking about each other’s day at the end of the day can help you get to know each other and make it easier to speak freely around the other. Children need to know they can approach their parents with anything, something that can ultimately give parents peace of mind since they do not need to worry about their children hiding things that are important.
3. Listen
Parents need to allow their kids time to talk without interruption and listen to what they have to say. Learning your child’s thoughts and opinions makes them feel like what they want or feel matters to you, which in turn makes them feel much closer to you than before. Having a parent who listens as well instead of only talks and lectures will give your child more encouragement to listen to you in return.
4. Understand
With listening comes understanding and this means that you have to learn to put yourself in your child’s shoes and trying to understand how they feel and what they want from what they tell you. If you are able to understand where your child is coming from, you will be able to close that generation gap to some extent.
5. Unconditional Love
Love has a way of crossing boundaries and bringing people together if acted upon. So show your children how much you love them. This unconditional love and support that they get from you is very encouraging and makes children more inclined to show that same love and understanding back.
6. Compromise
People can disagree on things, no matter how close to each other they are. Parents and children are no different; however, rather than forcing them into your way of thinking or forcing them to do what you want them to do when they don’t want to, learn to compromise when possible. There are times when you need to put your foot down with your children, but coming to a compromise instead of dictating their every move will make them closer to you and make that generation gap a little smaller.

4. Anti Age Cream
Very important part of skincare which we try to avoid thinking it is not the right time. My dermatologist said that one should start using anti ageing cream after 25 yrs of age itself.
Look for products with collagen, retinol, vitamin C and antioxidant ingredients.
Whichever product you use make sure it doesn't have paraben and alcohol. They speed up you ageing process and who wants to age so soon !

First Trimester of Pregnancy
Being a mother is the most beautiful feeling and so is being pregnant for the first time. When I found out that I was pregnant, the first thing that came to my mind was that suddenly my responsibility had increased. Earlier, I was a happy-go-lucky girl but now I had a responsibility.
As days passed, morning sickness, fever, and weakness hit my day to day life. I realised that being a mother is not easy. There was another life growing inside me and it was my responsibility to take good care of both of us. Whatever I ate was directly linked with the body of my baby. One drastic change that I noticed in myself was mood swings. I get angry on silly things, got frustrated with people around me, and sometimes I cried. On some days I felt happy that I was going to be a mother. The one person who dealt with my mood swings was my husband. He always used to listen to my silly talks. I used to get angry at him. Some days, I used to say to him why was he loving me. I told him to let me be alone and that I would go to my mother's house. I needed a break, etc. But he never got angry with me. Instead, he dealt with my moods swings and took good care of me. He used to take me for outings, movies, and shopping. I was happy that he loved and cared about me so much. And as days passed, we got to hear the first heartbeat of our baby. That was one of the best feelings in the world. We were soon going to be parents.
The first trimester is full of ups & downs and mood swings make the journey like a roller coaster. But you can be happy if you get love, care, and affection of your beloved one (husband). You need some care, affection and some hugs & kisses. If the mother is happy the baby will be happy too. So it is our responsibility to be happy at that moment. Since pregnancy lasts for 9 months, it is important to be healthy & happy.
To overcome mood swings, I would like to suggest the husbands of expecting moms that please do take your wives for shopping, outings, lunches or dinner. You can take your wife for a walk or come early from the office and spend quality time with her. The nine months of pregnancy are not easy and it is tough for a woman to take good care of your wife. Text your wife during your free hours. I am sure that even a single text will make her happy. And If she will be happy when the baby will be happy. So enjoy your time together and take care of yourself.

While lying down, use a pillow to support your back. Use a pillow under your bulging belly, between your knees, behind your back and under your arm. It will help in levelling your body and making you more comfortable.
2. Avoid cushy furniture: Avoid sitting on the cushy sofa or bean bag. It will be difficult for you to get up without someone's help. It might also put a strain on your tummy and back while you try to get up. Sit on a chair that has good back support and place a small stool under your feet.
3. Buy only necessary clothes: You heard it right. You might be growing out of your clothes and perhaps want a new wardrobe, but wait, don't get tempted by a dress you see in a shopping mall. Don't buy too many clothes at once as you will get bigger every month. Buy 2-4 pieces every now and then, depending on your size. Also, don't throw away or give away your old clothes as you will be needing them once you get back in shape after delivery.
4. Stay hydrated: Drink lots of water during the nine months of your pregnancy. Although you might be visiting loo every and then and might want to stop drinking water to lower your frequent trips to the bathroom. But don't do that as drinking less water will dehydrate you and affect your health. Drink lots of water to get rid of stretch marks, urinary tract infection and pimples. You can also drink lemon juice or coconut water for a change.
5. Invest in maternity wear: Maternity bottoms will be your best friend before and even after delivery. Go for common colours like black and blue in jegging, leggings & skirts. Your tummy won't be going in as soon as you deliver. So don't put away your maternity bottoms as soon as you head to the hospital. You can also opt for large-sized maxi dresses if your last trimester falls in summer. Later on, you can alter them to your size and reuse them.
6. Eat healthy snacks: Keep your 'healthy' snacks handy at all times. Even when you go to bed. You may feel hungry now and again, especially in your first trimester. So keep healthy snacks like dry fruits, biscuits, oats cookies handy. As your tummy will not be empty, you won't suffer from acidity and maybe you won't feel pukish all the time. Also, be aware of the new food allergies you might have.
7. Choose the right footwear: While pregnant, it will in your best interest if you keep your heels and wedges locked in the shoe rack. Wear simple chappals that do not have heels. Your centre of gravity will shift as your belly becomes bigger. Your entire body weight will come on your feet, which might lead to swelling and pain in the feet. So choose the right footwear and be safe. You can even wear sports shoes or orthopaedic footwear. These will provide a cushion to your feet. Also, check your size again before you get new shoes as even the feet grow bigger during pregnancy.
You will get bigger each day and may get pimples and pigmentation on your skin but remember you are carrying a life inside you which is a beautiful thing. So much so that your kids would finish them before you finish frying them.

20 - 25 Minutes (frying)
Ingredients
1 cup water
1 cup milk
1 cup rice grains
½ cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
2 tbsp butter, softened
3 spring onions, finely chopped
2 eggs
1 cup dry plain crumb
Oil for frying
Salt to taste
Black Pepper to taste
Method
Step 1
Mix water and milk, and bring it to a full boil. Stir in rice and cover with a lid.
Step 2
Reduce the flame to low and allow the rice to cook undisturbed, until all the liquid gets absorbed and the rice gets tender. This will take around 15 minutes. Switch off the gas and let it stand for 4 - 5 mins.
Step 3
Remove the lid and fluff rice with a fork or a spoon. Next, transfer it to a large bowl and add cheese, butter, spring onions, salt and pepper. Keep stirring until the cheese gets melted.
Step 4
Next, stir in the eggs and mix until combined well.
Step 5
Meanwhile in another bowl, mix bread crumbs, a little salt and a pinch of pepper.
Step 6
Work in small batches - take a tablespoonful of the rice mixture and drop it in the bread crumbs. Roll to coat and remove excess.
Step 7
Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed kadhai over moderately high heat. After about 2 - 3 mins when the oil gets relatively hot, drop the fritters and fry them, stirring occasionally, until golden.
Step 8
Remove and transfer to paper towels for the escess oil to drain.
Step 9
Serve hot with tomato ketchup or mint chutney
