10 Home Remedies for Stomach Pain in Toddlers
Kids have stomach pain every now and then. This is because they tend to eat anything and at any time. But there are several other reasons which may lead to stomach ache in toddlers. However, the good thing is that it can be treated with some simple home remedies. There are many effective natural remedies for stomach ache that can provide relief to your tot in no time.
Natural Remedies for Stomach Ache in Toddlers
If you have experienced sleepless nights because your child complains of tummy pain, then don’t worry. Here are some remedies for stomach pain in toddlers. These remedies will cure his stomach pain and soon he will feel better.
1. Keep your child hydrated.
Offer any unsweetened form of tea like mint or ginger ale tea to your child to keep him hydrated. This will soothe the aching nerves of his stomach and help lower his stomach pain. Avoid giving him dairy products or fried/oily products until he feels better. You can give him toast or oatmeal when he feels hungry. If his stomach pain is accompanied by vomiting, do not feed him any solids; let him be on a liquid diet until the pain subsides.
2. Try warm compress.
One of the safest and the most effective remedies for stomach ache is warm compress. The best thing about warm compress is that it does not have any side effects and it provides quick relief. If you are using a heating pad, select the lowest level of heat and keep it on your child’s abdomen. But don’t place it directly. If you don’t have a heating pad, use a bottle filled with warm water; wrap it in a cloth and your warm compress is ready. Make sure that the heating pad or the water bottle you use is warm and NOT hot. You don’t want to hurt your child. Warm compress is very effective. The heat will relax his muscles and provide relief from stomach pain.
3. Apply asafoetida paste.
Asafoetida or hing is also an effective remedy for stomach pain in toddlers. It eases stomach pain by aiding the release of gases from the body. Mix some hing powder in water to make a paste and apply it around the child’s belly button. Ensure that he is lying in a horizontal position while you do so to make sure that the paste does not enter the navel. Mixing hing powder with olive oil and massaging the baby’s abdominal area with it for some time can also provide him with quick relief.
4. Make him eat yoghurt and other probiotic foods.
Probiotic foods are also known to help soothe stomach pain. For example, yoghurt, which has probiotics in it, can provide relief from diarrhoea and cramps. Yoghurt is also full of good bacteria which compensates for the loss of microbes in the gut. Fenugreek seeds also help treat stomach pain in toddlers. Grind a handful of fenugreek seeds, add in the yoghurt, and give it to your child if he has stomach pain. Instead of giving any heavy foods, give him khichdi or plain rice. Khichdi is light on the tummy and will soothe your child’s upset tummy.
5. Offer herbal teas.
Herbal teas can are also known to soothe tummy aches in toddlers. Grate some ginger and let it soak in warm water for some time. Then strain and give it to your child if he is two years or above. If he is below two years of age, you can apply ginger juice around his navel area. You can also give him a cup of tea with a few mint leaves and a few drops of lemon juice in it, as it helps ease stomach pain. Mint can help remove harmful bacteria from the gut while lemon can help with constipation. However, before giving herbal teas to your child, do consult with a doctor.
6. Give him honey.
Honey is a good source of carbohydrates, sugars, and antioxidants. It can be given to babies by adding it in herbal teas or in warm water. Kids also love eating it simply. However, do not feed honey to your child if he is younger than 2 years.
7. Massage him gently.
The aching nerves and muscles of the stomach area can be relieved by enhancing the blood circulation around it and this can be easily achieved by giving a gentle massage. Using your palms and fingers, gently massage in circular motions in the clockwise direction around the navel area of your child. Massaging from the chin downwards to the lower portion of the abdomen can also provide relief.
8. Try foot reflexology.
There are many nerves in our hands and feet which when pressed lightly can have a therapeutic effect on the specific areas of the body. Hold your child’s left foot with the palm of your right hand. With your left hand under the ball of his foot, apply a steady pressure using your thumb. Apply pressure on the central arch of his left foot for a minute and repeat this 4-5 times. Do this before the meal time for an immediate effect.
9. Get him moving.
Although it is not a home remedy, it can help. Any action that can help in stimulating the gastrointestinal tract is recommended if your child complains of a stomach ache. Moderate activities like walking and running without any twisting or turning can provide relief to your little one’s stomach.
10. Try the BRAT diet.
If you are parents to a toddler, you must be aware of the BRAT diet. However, if you aren’t, then find out what it is, because it can provide relief from an upset stomach. Bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast (BRAT) diet can provide your kiddo much relief if he has diarrhoea. These foods do not contain any spices, hence won’t aggravate the condition. Furthermore, this bland diet is perfect for kids when they are sick and want something to eat that agrees with their taste buds.
How to Prevent Stomach Ache in Toddlers
If your child constantly complains of stomach pain, you should not ignore it. There must be something wrong in his diet and you need to remedy it. Here are some tips that you can follow to prevent this problem.
If your child has a stomach ache because of constipation, include fibrous foods in his diet.
Do not overfeed your child. Instead of giving him three big meals, let him have small frequent meals.
Encourage the habit of washing hands before eating right from an early age in your toddler as it will prevent your child from contracting bacterial infections.
Don’t make him eat before bedtime as it could lead to indigestion.
Stomach ache is a common problem in kids. If your tot has a stomach ache, make him lie down on the bed in a comfortable position. Lie down next to him and read out his favourite stories to divert his attention. You can also try the remedies mentioned above to provide him relief from stomach pain. However, if these remedies fail to work and your child is unable to move or the pain is accompanied by a fever, take him to a doctor and seek medical attention at earliest.

9 Doting Bollywood Grandparents Who Will Make You Smile!
There’s someone who loves your child with all their heart. They may not meet them every day or even talk over the phone often. But whenever they do, they cannot stop grinning and gushing, and the gifts and toys keep queuing up longer every time…Who are we talking about? Why, grandparents, of course!
Near or far, together or living apart, people like us or celebrities from Bollywood, grandparents are the most doting people on the planet! When your kids are young, they shower them with attention and care, babysitting for you and feeding your darling, all the while as delighted as little children themselves. With time, they become best buddies with their grandkids and while they enjoy this too, they cannot help but exclaim every day – where did the time fly?
In Bollywood too, grandparents keep their young friends at the centre of their universe. This is why we brought you a list of Bollywood grandpas and grandmas who couldn’t be happier than they are when their tiny pals are around! Prepare to have your heart melted…
1. Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan is a grandfather to Navya Naveli and Agastya Nanda. However, the Bachchan household has transformed ever since little Aaradhya was born and Amitabh Bachchan cannot stop gushing about her. He arranges his schedules around her so that they can spend time together, he makes sure he attends all her important school functions, and this is the best part – he is a rapt audience member for her singing!
"She sings to me. This generation is very different. They don’t like 'ale bachche' and all. They will talk straight to you. (Aaradhya can) quite cutely, imitate some of my dance moves that she has noticed on TV.
It's not just Aaradhya who's learning from Grandpa, but the other way round too! So, what is the little one teaching Big B?
https://www.instagram.com/p/BdZMmW4BGA-/?utm_source=ig_embed
"These days Aaradhya talks non-stop and I would like to learn that from her. The media thinks I talk less. (Also,) When Aaradhya was one-and-a-half-year-old she started playing games on Ipad… searching for her favourite cartoons. I still have not been able to get very acquainted with FaceTime or Skype, and I have problems with them! But every time my family travels, particularly my granddaughter, it's a joy for Abhishek to come to me and say 'Hey, when did you speak to Aaradhya last?' It's just these little things that children or grandchildren do for you, which makes life a lot easier."
Children today really grow up fast and have a million things to teach us about being sunny and positive in life. The best part is that Big B gets to enjoy both roles – Dada and Nana. His daughter Shweta’s children Agastya and Navya also dote on him.
2. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh
The popular Bollywood couple positively adores their little grandchild Samara. She is their daughter Riddhima’s baby girl and is already turning 7 years old in March 2017! And it's not only her grandparents but Samara's uncle Ranbir loves doting on her too!

Recently, Tusshar became a single father to baby Laksshya and now the Kapoors have a new, cuddly gift to cherish and nurture.
"We could not be more excited to be grandparents to Laksshya, and are completely supportive of Tusshar’s decision. This is certainly a tremendous blessing and an exciting time in our lives. Tusshar is a wonderful son, and he has proven, with responsibility, independence and kindness, that he will be a great father to Laksshya.”

9. Sharmila Tagore
https://www.instagram.com/p/BitCGYpha8x/?utm_source=ig_embed
Happy grandmom to four little ones now, Sharmila was vocal about how she was looking forward to the birth of Taimur, son of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, back in 2016. Come 2017 and she was blessed with a new doll of a grandchild - Inaaya, daughter of Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu. While she would love to spend more time with them, she understands that commitments come first. However, there's no doubt that she loves doting on the adorable little starlets!
These grandparents just made our day, what about you? The love they have for their grandchildren is as pure and innocent as childhood – there’s a reason they get along like pals of the same age.
For your child to grow up with empathy and kindness, the role of the elders in the family is very crucial. They can teach life lessons with the simplest of stories; after all, they have a lifetime of experience behind them. Even if you don’t live in a joint family, make sure the kids bond with their grandparents every now and then, say, over family get-togethers or on the phone. This is not a relationship you want them to miss out on!

These 20 Easy Design Ideas Can Make Your House Look Bigger Without Costing a Fortune!
Have you always fantasized about owning a sprawling, spacious home? With kids, no matter how hard you try, space is always at a premium. The good news is that you can transform your house into a spacious abode with these easy ideas on how to make a small room look bigger.
Creating precious square footage in your home doesn't necessarily involve breaking the walls or taxing your bank account. If you're wondering how to make a small house look bigger, learn a creative hack or two and bid goodbye to bemoaning lack of space.
Cool Ways to Make Small Rooms Look Bigger
1. Fall in love with light colours
Switch to light paint colours to make a room look bigger. Shades like off-white, pale blue and sea green are perfect. You can choose a cute yellow or a light pink for your toddlers' rooms and pick white as an accent colour.
2. Experiment with gradients
If you don't want to use different paint colours, create a harmonious look by using different shades of a single colour for the walls, carpets and furniture. Your home will look super chic and roomy.
3. Go for a few large items of furniture
Choose one large couch and two small seats instead of several small items of furniture for a small living room. Not only will the room appear a lot larger, but less cluttered too.
4. Invest in hidden storage
Forget trying to squeeze in another shelf on the wall for your kid's belongings. Use hidden storage and multi-purpose items like storage-friendly tables and ottomans to avoid clutter.
5. Bring furniture together
To make space, pull furniture away from the walls and toward a central area. This way, there's ample space to walk through and you create the illusion of a larger room.
6. Install shelves high up
If you're planning to install a few shelves for your children's trophies and collectibles, do so higher up on the walls. Drawing the eye upward instead of downward makes the room look bigger.
7. Paint the ceiling
To make the room feel larger in both width and height, paint the ceiling or wallpaper in a light colour. This can do magic for the overall look!
8. Stick to the cantaloupe rule
This states that decorative accents smaller than a cantaloupe (or muskmelon) make a room look smaller. Instead of cramming in many tiny ornaments, choose a few large ones.
9. Try clear shower curtains
Hate how small your bathroom looks? Create the illusion of roominess with a clear shower curtain instead of a coloured one. You can choose a printed one too as long as the patterns are tiny.
10. Play with mirrors
Put up mirrors near windows so they reflect light and make rooms appear larger. Why not pick mirrors in cute shapes for your toddler's room?
11. Uncover windows
At least during the day, leave the windows uncovered so that more light enters the rooms. If you don't like doing that, choose curtains and blinds in a very light colour.
12. Pick furniture with exposed legs
Those sofas and chairs with covered legs that you see in magazines may look gorgeous but they won't do much for a small room. Use chic furniture with exposed legs instead as they're less boxy.
13. Experiment with art
A few wall hangings instead of several small ones are key to giving the impression of a large room. Try one or two bold paintings in large frames. You can also combine your children's artworks into one frame and put it up as a centrepiece.
14. Use rugs
Forget wall-to-wall carpeting; use rugs to separate one room into smaller sections without crowding it.
15. Opt for glass decorations
Ditch ceramics and stone for glassware as it takes up very little visual space. You can go for two medium-sized vases, one large glass bowl and some figurines to decorate your room.
16. Stay away from overhead lights
Avoid overhead lights that focus illumination on one or two spots. You should choose smaller table lamps that spread light instead.
17. Tackle the clutter
No amount of clever space-saving tricks will help if you don't get rid of clutter. You can task hubby and the kids with chucking junk and freeing up precious space.
18. Use stripes
Another smart way to make small rooms look bigger is to use striped accents. A rug with stripes following the length of a room will make it appear more spacious.
19. Colour-code shelves
Rather than scattering items on shelves, colour-code them for better organisation. You can do this for books, toys and anything else on your shelves.
20. Get creative
If you have a playroom, install a few items that are fun to use yet don't hog too much space. You could get a small hammock that your toddlers will love, a large chalkboard, two or three bean bags and one wall dedicated to indoor climbing.
Bid adieu to lamenting about lack of space in your house. These home interior design ideas for small spaces will save you time and money and get your home looking and feeling larger. Watch your brood and husband rejoice! Read more

A. Nasal blockage is very common, specially in small children because of the narrow nasal cavity. Any kind of saline drops like nasal clear will be helpful in dissolving the stuffy secretions, which can be taken out by vnasal aspirator gently also steam inhalation will be helpful also, try to avoid keeping the child directly under the fan.
