बच्चे की नींद को समझना बेहद जरूरी है। जैसे, वो कब और कितने घंटे जगा रहता है और कब उसे नींद आती है। अगर आप इनके बारे में नहीं जानते तो इस लेख को पढ़ें:
बच्चे के सोने के घंटे
इस समय तक बच्चा इतना सक्षम हो जाता है कि उसे दिन और रात का अंतर समझ आने लगता है। उन्हें इस समय प्रतिदिन 14 घंटे नींद लेने की आवश्यकता होती है। चार महीने की उम्र में वे बिना भोजन किए लगातार रात को आठ घंटे बिता सकते हैं। पाँच महीने का होने पर वे दस से ग्यारह घंटे सोते हैं। वही दिन में वे चार से पाँच घंटे सोते हैं। यह सोना तीन अलग-अलग चरणों में होता है। छह महीने की उम्र में उन्हें प्रत्येक रात बिना किसी खलल के 11 घंटे की नींद की जरूरत होती है। दिन में वे दो से तीन बार साढ़े तीन घंटे के लिए सोते हैं।
सुलाने का समय नियमित रखें
आप बच्चे को उसके कमरे में सहजता से सुला सकते हैं। उनके लिए एक निश्चित दिनचर्या तैयार करें। यानी कि हर दिन बच्चे को एक ही समय पर सुलाएं। जब आप ऐसा करने लगेंगे तो खुद-ब-खुद उस समय तक शिशु को नींद आने लगेगी। शाम के समय बच्चे थक जाते हैं इसलिए उन्हें उस समय भी सोने की आवश्यकता होती है। ध्यान दें कि यदि अचानक शाम को छह बजे शिशु चिड़चिड़ा हो रहा है तो उसे साढ़े पाँच बजे ही सुला दें।
दिन की नींद में कटौती न करें
इस उम्र में उनकी दोपहर की नींद में कटौती न करें। सोना और उसकी अवधि दोनों ही शिशु के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। अगर एक बच्चा दोपहर में ठीक से नहीं सोता तो शाम तक वह बेहद थका हुआ हो जाता है। ऐसे में चार से छह माह के बच्चों को दिन में डेढ़ घंटा सोना चाहिए और ऐसा दो से तीन बार किया जाना चाहिए। इस दौरान उन्हें उनके झूले में ही सुलाएं।
उनकी नींद के इशारे को समझे
जब बच्चे को नींद आने लगती है तो वह खुद ऐसे संकेत देता है, जिनसे स्पष्ट हो कि उसे नींद आ रही है। वे चुप हो जाते हैं, शांत हो जाते हैं, जम्हाई लेने लगते हैं या अपनी आँखें मलने लगते हैं। साथ ही साथ खिलौनों में रूचि भी खो देते हैं। इन सबसे पता चलता है कि वे थक गए हैं अब थकान के कारण उनके रोना शुरू करने से पहले ही आप उन्हें सुला दें।
सोने की ट्रेनिंग दें
वह रात में कई बार जागेगा। जहां बड़े यदि रात को जागते है तो तुरंत खुद-ब-खुद सो जाते हैं लेकिन शिशु को उम्मीद होती है कि उसके पेरेंट्स उसे सुलाएंगे। ऐसे में आपको बच्चे को स्वयं शांत होने के तरीके सिखाने चाहिए ताकि वे खुद ही सो सकें।
रात को कम खिलाएं
अगर आप ऐसा नहीं करती हैं तो कोशिश करके देखें, शिशु को दिन में ही उसकी आवश्यकतानुसार पोषक तत्व दे दें ताकि वह रात को भूखा न रहे। अगर फिर भी शिशु को भूख लग जाती है तो उन्हें बस एक बार ही भोजन दें। बार-बार भोजन के लिए शिशु का जागना ठीक नहीं है। उन्हें शाम के समय बार-बार थोड़ा-थोड़ा खिलाएं ताकि वे आराम से सो सकें।
अलग होने की घबराहट
जब बच्चा छह महीने का होता है और बहुत थका हुआ होता है तो वह रात को बार-बार जागता है क्योंकि वह आपके साथ रहना चाहता है। उन्हें कोई प्यारा-सा सॉफ्टटॉय या ब्लेंकेट दे दें ताकि रात में अकेला महसूस होने पर वह वे रोए नहीं। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण यह है कि आप बच्चे के लिए नियमित दिनचर्या तैयार करें और उन्हें उसी आधार पर सुलाएं। ताकि अपना समय होने पर उन्हें खुद ही नींद आने लगे।
