Can Vitamin C Prevent Pregnancy?
You might have heard people say that it is important to have a nutritious and healthy diet whenever planning a pregnancy. Vitamin C also might be one of the vitamins your doctor recommends because it helps enhance immunity among other things. However, did you know that vitamin C can also come in handy in case you want to prevent getting pregnant? Yes, it's true - vitamin C acts as a natural contraceptive, preventing pregnancy. How can you make use of this to prevent pregnancy? Read on.
How Does Vitamin C Help Prevent Pregnancy?
Vitamin C contains ascorbic acid. Consuming it in more than required amounts tends to hamper with progesterone levels, an essential hormone in pregnancy. This hampering leads to the uterus being unable to support conception - progesterone helps prepare the uterus for the implantation of the egg, and the lack of progesterone can prevent implantation and hence, conception.
What Can the Overdose of Vitamin C Lead To?
A limited dosage of vitamin C can be beneficial - it is also prescribed to pregnant women to support a healthy pregnancy. Can high doses of vitamin C prevent pregnancy? The next two section deal with this question.
Will It Lead To Miscarriage?
If you are a pregnant woman, you must be extremely careful with your vitamin C intake because a high dosage can lead to a hostile environment for the fertilised egg in your uterus. It may loosen the grip of the egg, and the egg may not be able to attach itself to the uterine lining, causing a miscarriage. The acidity present in vitamin C fiddles with estrogen levels in the body, which affect the sex hormones in the body. Are you looking for a natural way of preventing pregnancy? Start taking a higher dosage of vitamin C before your ovulation cycle starts.
Other Impacts
Vitamin C can have other impacts on your body too. For example, your menstrual cycle might arrive earlier than expected. The cycle in most women goes from 28 to 30 days - increased amounts of vitamin C in your body can reduce the levels of progesterone and increase the levels of estrogen, causing the uterus to relax and begin menstruation.
Ways To Use Vitamin C To Prevent Pregnancy
Here are some ways you can use vitamin C to avoid pregnancy:
1. Lemons have a high concentration of vitamin C. Including lemons in your diet in the form of juice or anything else can effectively keep pregnancy at bay. However, beware - taking higher amounts of lemon juice when pregnant can lead to a miscarriage.
2. Can vitamin C tablets prevent pregnancy? Yes. They act as emergency contraceptive pills. You can ingest these pills to avoid your chances of getting pregnant. However, make sure to take pure vitamin C pills and not ones with additives.
3. If you have had any kind of unprotected sex with your partner, inserting a vitamin C tablet can help prevent pregnancy. You may be required to insert the tablets two times a day for at least 3 days to prevent the conception process. Sometimes, this can cause rashes or irritation, for which you can use aloe vera for a soothing effect.
4. You can also place the vitamin C tablets inside your vagina before you have unprotected sex with your partner. The acidity causes a hostile environment for the sperms, thus preventing pregnancy.
5. You can add fruits rich in vitamin C - papaya, pineapple, sugarcane, oranges - in your daily diet to save yourself from any kind of unplanned pregnancy.
Unplanned or unwanted pregnancies can be troublesome. If you are looking for ways to prevent pregnancy naturally, vitamin C is a great option. You could either consume Vitamin C rich food or consume Vitamin C supplements. However, it is important to keep in mind that excess amounts can lead to other issues such as heartburn, bloating, cramping, diarrhoea, etc.

The Soulful Journey of Preterm Birth - From Conception to Home
Journey from preterm birth to home
Life swivelled
Me n my hubby giggled
The report read HCG was high
We uttered with a sigh
It isn't a lie
Most special gift on mother's day, we can't buy
A new voyage began, from wife to being a mother
Love respect n care hightened for one another
From morning sickness to growing baby bump
I was carried away by emotional pump
The growth trajectory in the womb
The egg, from a poppy seed to embryo to foetus, abloom
Unrivalled was the feeling
The fluttering movements of baby wheeling
Birthing a new life, True essence of women empowerment
Stupendous experience, no words to vent
Third trimester rolled in with a bang
Thrilling song, destiny sang
Unaware of the reason for distress
The pain i couldn't supress
Oh, these are the contractions
Unable to infer doctor's gross reactions
It was a preterm breech
The due date we just couldn't reach
My baby was in a real hurry
To step into the outside world, my deary
Preparing for a c-sec
Its just 29weeks of gestation, what the heck
In the anaesthetic state, full of despair
Awww, i heard the first cry of my li'l one, hope n joy was in the air
Its a baby boy
My li'l bundle of joy
When i gained consciousness
Bereft of my new love, again i was hopeless
In a dire emergency, he was taken to NICU right after birth
Unable to catch even a glimpse of him, i was in life's dearth
Within hours, mammary glands got activated
Arggghhh, couldn't nurse my baby, I bleated
Miles away from me
Wriggling in pain to see him, hold him, so was he
Dealing with post partum stress
A glance over his first pic, could make it less
Got discharged in 3 days
But with empty arms, everything seemed grey
Finally i got the chance to see my one week old baby
With heartbeat fast, trembling hands, shaky legs, my pace was so lazy
He was incubated, ventilated, pricked for various scans
To make him hale n hearty, doctors didn't miss a single chance
Weighing just a kg, he was born
Thinking about his respiratory distress, my heart was torn
To help him breathe, he had nasal prongs
Couldn't figure out, what went wrong
The sensors, machines, needles, syringe, all over his body
It was so dreadful, I ran away into lobby
Traumatized with the view, Unable to hold back my tears
Muzzling me, were all sort of fears
But he is a warrior, born fighter
Only with his strength, the days became more whiter
I also stood up,to match up to his power
I gave my best to climb this tower
Expressed the milk for my li'l dude
He could digest it, yippieee, it was all vibrantly hued
An ml to a bit more, everyday was like a new struggle
Slowly we reached max feed level, n the happiness was much more than double
Children's day, a new dawn full of motherly affection was in my cart
First time i held my prince in my arms just next to my heart
With pride, love n joy our eyes were brimming
With the warmth of our touch, our li'l token of love was grinning
His look was so enthralling n captivating
The zealous energy in us, it was recreating
His tiny supple hands into mine
Living the grace of motherhood, I did shine
Forever In our hearts, picture of this memorable moment is etched
No one can steal this treasure as it has been latched
Another step forward, we took
To bring him home early, by hook or by crook
We started with kangaroo mother care
He laid nude on my chest bare
For hours, peacefully snuggled into me, my li'l chap
I began to feed him with spoon, in my lap
I caressed him with all my heart
Blessed him and expressed my deep love of his part
The therapy worked miraculously
He could breathe on his own righteously
Day by day he improved
Nothing can be more healing than mother's love, it proved
At last, we were shifted to our personal ward
I could draw him out of agony, was my biggest reward
The restrictions of visiting hours, ended
Now wholly under my embrace, he landed
His gastric feeding tube, cannula were all gone
The stinging pain of separation is now bygone
No more i needed permission, to touch to kiss to hug to love my baby, was a great relief
In the tough times, true weapons are courage and positive belief
His weight gain was the only measure, how far we reach
Everyday with few grams gained, yesss i could make it, was the cliché
Hurray, we made it, Finally the big day came
After 38 days of ups and downs, in our favour was the game
My teeny weeny made his debut in our home
We got engrossed in nurturing his beautiful n delicate form
So much of hurdles, together we crossed
But there are still some milestones to be tossed
They say, love can heal anything n everything in world, so true
N It demands nothing in lieu
Proud to be mother of a preemie
His divine cuteness n littleness is a freebie
Intertwining are our respective destiny

Raising Boys vs Raising Girls
Raising kids is not an easy task. One of the most common mistakes you might make is that of treating your girls and boys the same way. You must understand the difference between the behaviour, choice and mindset of both genders. Getting a better idea on raising boys and girls differently, will go a long way in making them grow into individuals of strong stature.
Both the genders require equal amount of love, care and good nurturing during their growing-up years. However, if you think the parenting techniques you used for your daughter would come handy for your son too, you are mistaken. There is a lot of difference in the process of raising girls and boys. Each of them think and react to various situations in their own way. Know the dissimilarities between the two to rear them better.
Raising Boys Vs Girls
1. Boys Love Action while Girls Love Interaction
Boys enjoy motion! They love running around, kicking, watching fast-action packed videos and being a part of various other physical activities. They are particularly fond of mechanical motion.Your little boy would rather prefer looking at moving cars than a group of people dancing or chit chatting. Girls, on the other hand, love observing people around, maintaining eye contact, listening to human voices and would try to communicate with you. They even try to imitate you and are much better at it as compared to boys. However, when it comes to understanding the laws of motion, boys are better off than girls. You can observe this difference from the very beginning, when they are hardly a few months old. So there you go! Now you know why your baby boy was more active when compared to your baby girl.Know the difference between raising boys and girls for their good upbringing.
2. Difference Between Raising Girls and Boys Based on Motor Skills
While boys are good with gross motor skills and learn how to run, kick, and roll before their female counterparts – the latter tend to display fine motor skills. They are good at holding and playing with toys, drawing, writing and eating. Girls learn these skills easily and faster than boys. Keep this fact in mind when thinking about how to raise boys and girls together.
3. Emotions
Contrary to the common belief, studies reveal that boys are comparatively more emotional than girls. They can get angry, stressed and frustrated more easily than girls and take longer to calm down. So while bringing up boys, you must be extra cautious about their likes, dislikes and emotions. Remember, they require more soothing than girls. They are also comparatively more fearless than girls. Fearful and angry faces are less likely to impact boys even in their infancy, while such expressions affect girls to a large extent.
4. Behaviour and Choices
You need to be more careful about your kids' choices in their early years. You are likely to see a lot of difference between the choices made by girls and boys.Your son would most likely prefer playing with cars, planes and balls as a toddler, while your little girl would love to play with dolls, kitchen sets or may even be interested in exploring different items on your dressing table.Role playing comes more naturally to girls than boys. Keep this in mind when bringing up girls and boys at the same time.
The parameters of raising boys and girls are quite different based on their nature and skills. However, you should not differentiate between them when it comes to instilling values, educating them or providing for them. Patience is a helpful tool that will teach you the difference between how to raise girls and boys in the long run. You would need it a lot as they learn and grow at their own pace! Read more

My journey towards womanhood - a juggle, an adventure, a blessing and continuing
I have always been an ambitious woman since my childhood, weather it be in academics or extra curricular activities. In school and college, there was not a single activitie/ fest which I was kot a part of. During the end of college days, I have tried for a wide variety of professions starting from Indian Army, Indian Airforce to IT companies. I have always been a quick learner. Having a master's degree in biotechnology, I am currently in IT field learning how to write computer code. I would travel, alone and with friends, explore new places and was never idle at home. I enjoyed my busy life. At that age, the teens to the early twenties, that was the definition of womanhood to me.
Once I got married, my priorities have changed. I became more centred and something new called "work life balance" has come into the picture. I have changed jobs, learned new technologies so that I can get a job with a good work life balance. It was very important for me to have a balanced personal and professional life after marriage. I knew that quality time was more important than quantity. I learned how to cook (my mom was a great cook before I got married, so I never had to cook), I would look up for interior decoration ideas and try them around my house, while I was still working. I enjoyed this work life balance, though it was a tough juggle. At this age, this was the definition of womanhood to me.
I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and she is currently 6 months old. My entire world shifted towards her and I forget the world whenever I see her beautiful smile. I love taking care of her. At the same time, I'm juggling with spending quality time with my husband, family and my work. It is very easy to quit work after having kids, but I know how hard I worked to get to this position in my job. This juggling with various responsibilities is very difficult, but what is life without it's challenges? One must learn to love this adventure. At this point, I consider this as womanhood and I consider myself as a complete woman after becoming a mother.
With age and with different phases of life, my definition of womanhood has changed. I believe that the real definition of womanhood would be how well a woman juggles with her work, her family and her health. Most importantly, how much is she enjoying this juggle. After all, women are great multi taskers.
I would conclude by saying that I am still in the journey of womanhood, maybe in the beginning of my journey. I have a long way to go and I am excited for the adventure!

Tips to Pick The Right Paint Colour for Your House
Choosing a colour for home design may seem like a daunting task. Sometimes you're just too overwhelmed with the options and aren't sure where to start. The trick to learning how to choose colour palette for home is to start by learning about the way colour works. But that takes time; and if you're like us, you would much rather learn things hands-on.
Worried about how to select a colour scheme for your home and not mess it up? Don't worry, we relate. We'll tell you how to get started.
How to Choose Paint Colours for Your Home - 10 Smart Tips
To start off, here are some handy tips on how to choose a colour palette for home overall:
1. Start with Furniture
Don't pick a paint colour from your head right off the bat and pair it with your interiors. That makes it a lot harder. The simple and efficient way is to take a piece of furniture's colour and pair that with the rest of your indoor elements. Makes colour matching or complementing a breeze.
2. Use Pinterest
Pinterest is jam-packed with tons of boards of home design colour palettes. There is plenty of room for inspiration, but we recommend to create 5 boards for each room and fill them up with pictures of designs you like. It will give you a big picture view of what you like overall.
3. Use Neutrals
If you want the focal point in your living room to be the walls, add a dominant colour to one side and stick with neutrals for the rest. This helps direct the viewer's eye without overwhelming him with his surroundings at the same time. Some colour suggestions for neutrals include Silver City, Passive Gray (Sherwin Williams), Repose Gray (Sherwin Williams), Requisite Gray (Sherwin Williams) and Park Avenue (Behr Marq.)
4. Consider Testers
Testers not only save you money but also let you try out a different colour scheme for home ideas to see and get the feel of your visual design. Plus, you don't have to worry about getting a new paint job. Buy a bunch of testers and apply colours of the same type to each wall in different shades. Leave it on for a week and check out the rooms at different times of the day and night to see how the light hits the wall. Don't paint on white walls, and if you must, make sure to spread out the tester paint over large areas.
5. Learn Undertones
Your undertones are those tiny bits of warm or cool colours that pop up in different shades. To understand undertones better, get two to three strips of the same colour but in different shades. Let's say we're dealing with a brown colour strip. Start by noting the colour at the bottom.
Is it dark brown or chocolate brown? Go up a few shades. It is getting warmer or cooler? Warm how? Is the warmth more akin to a red or brown undertone? Now you're getting it. Repeat this for different colour strips to make sure the undertones go well together.
6. Have a Whole Home Colour Palette
We don't mean to overwhelm, but we believe in the big-picture look. When selecting paint colours for house interiors, make sure that the rooms blend in well together. If you'd like to stick to neutrals for the theme and accent your home with the colours of furniture and fabrics, then examples from model homes could serve as a reference.
7. Factor in Patterned Textiles
Remember our tip on starting with the furniture colour? Well, here's another option: textiles.
Yes, you can buy a bunch of fabrics for your home, including mats and carpets, and plan out the colours for your walls. In fact, choosing a colour palette will go much easier if you start with the textiles and furniture since you'll be having reference points.
8. Think Lighting
The way light bounces off your walls will set the mood and emotions for your eyes. The lighting will reveal your undertones and make rooms look different at nights. That's why we talked about testers before but lighting matters - ideally, your colours should look good in both artificial and natural lighting.
9. Hire a Professional Interior Designer
The best way to learn more about colours is to hire a professional interior designer yourself. If you have the money, get one's help and ask him to mentor you. You'll learn hands-on and a lot faster that way. It'll expose you to various angles.
10. Finish with the Finish
Your finish will wrap up paint colours for your house exterior and interiors. Get this part right and you won't have to worry about things going awry. Here are some of the popular options:
Flat-finish - Is not shiny at all and difficult to clean up
Eggshell finish - Low shininess but it's ideal for dining rooms
Satin finish- Perfect for rooms with high-traffic such as the hallways
Semi-gloss finish- Gives a subtle shine and is very easy to clean
High-gloss finish- If you're going for a polished look, go for a high-gloss finish. It scrubs well and is resistant to stains.
Selecting Colours for a Specific Room
Whether you're choosing a roof colour for a brick home or selecting paint colours for whole house, working your way room to room is a good start. Below, we give some ideas for which colours go well and make recommendations for different rooms. Go with what works for you and remember, the final product must exude the feeling you're looking for.
1. Living Rooms
Your living room is arguably your largest space (in most cases). If you have patterned upholstery, start by picking a neutral paint colour for living room with grey or beige undertones for a nice complement.
Start with your living room and pick one colour from the scheme for your other spaces and their accent.
You can take inspiration from your wardrobe and use colours from your everyday clothes to design the colour palette for your living rooms.
If you want a bit of impact using, add a touch of black to every colour in your room.
Gray is the best when it comes to neutrals. It pairs excellently with both warmer and cooler colours (and even pastels).
When in doubt, go with the 60-30-10 rule. 60% dominant colour, 30% secondary colour, and 10% for accents. Makes your rooms blend flawlessly and work with the colours.
2. Bedrooms
Go from dark to light- dark for the floor, medium for the walls, and light shades for the ceiling.
Analogous colour wheels work great for bedrooms, like blue and green.
Warm, honey-coloured undertones work well with cool greys to spice up your bedrooms.
Want to really make your bedroom look passionate? Try opting for a red, black and white colour scheme. It revs things up fantastically.
If you'd like to make your bedroom pop, use soft grey neutrals for the ceiling, walls and accessories and use vibrant red bed sheets, cushions, and elements to breathe energy into the serene atmosphere. It works like a charm every time.
If you like a squeaky clean vibe, opt for a combo of sky blue and white. Add earth-toned furnishings to make it seem down-to-earth or at-home.
3. Kitchens
If your kitchen is small, make it pop with darker colours like navy blue and make the spacious rooms pop with white.
Chic black and white with a metallic gold undertone never gets old and tells a good story.
Deep blue and light blue colours make the space look expansive, sort of island-like. A good combo is Sea Ridge and Tropical Pool.
If you'd like your kitchen space to be vibrant or "grassy", go with Alabaster (white) and Paradise (green) from Sherwin Williams.
If you'd like to stick to classics, a trendy combo would be Poppy orange for shelves and cabinets and ebony for the surrounding spaces. You can pair contrasts of sheen in a fantastic way with these two working together.
If your kitchen has a huge wall, you can get away by adding some fuchsia and pairing it up with light neutrals for a modern spin.
4. Dining Rooms
Have metal chairs lying around? Use a botanical green wallpaper and pair it with comfy fabrics like sheepskin for a friendly vibe.
Put up abstract art pieces on the walls, a geometric chandelier, and use bold yellows and white for the perfect eclectic touch.
Sunny yellows with bright Cittron tables will pop your living space to life.
A monochromatic look with green and white could turn your dining room from meh to fab.
Use your personal style - pick three colours of your choice and make it look good with the distribution technique. You won't regret it - don't forget to pair up your background elements with art and any furnishings you like!
Use the colour wheel - pick colours next to each other, ones that are opposite to one another, or just go with a colour and use different shades for a nice monochromatic vibe. When choosing accents and sheens, determine if your primary hue is warm or cool and whether it exudes an active, passive, or neutral look.
5. Bathrooms
Use the rule of three with the distribution being 70/20/10 this time. Use the lightest colours for 70%, 20% for the second lightest and 10% for your dominant colour. A nice pairing is white, cocoa brown, and light green but if you'd like energy, then white, cocoa brown and bottle green.
Use a colour palette for your bathroom. Purple and yellow go well together because they're complementary but you can use analogous colours like blue and green too.
If you want to design with just two neutrals like grey and white, go for 70-30 distribution. For a floor tiling complement, use patterns like herringbone, veined marble, and wainscoting.
Use the second rule of three - that is, using a colour you pick three times in the bathroom. This distribution makes your colour palette look intentional and random.
You can use darker bolder hues if you have plenty of white bathroom fixtures for a visually interesting contrast. Mercury glass and mirrored lamps are an interesting combo and recommended highly by designers.
If you like plants, you can add some to your bathroom counter tops and use nature-inspired designs like turquoise and sky blue for an organic touch.
Colour tells you stories and gives out the feelings you want to feel when you look at it. You can use these visual design ideas and add your own little twist to personalize the colour schemes to your tastes.
Try these out and let us know how it goes.

A. Some women may have vomiting throughout their pregnancy. The most common reason for vomiting during the third trimester may be gastritis. Make sure you eat small frequent meals, preferably every 2 hours. If your baby's weight during checkups are adequate..u needn't worry much about this. You can also consult your doctor and take anti emetics and PPIs if the vomiting is bothering you or interfering with your daily activities.

A. no need to worry about the frequency and colour of the stool if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid.
also there is no need to worry about the smell of the stool if the consistency is normal.
you have to meet the doctor if it is watery inconsistency or hard consistency otherwise semi solid to solid stool is normal.
also passing stool after taking food is normal. r
