Do not leave him like this for more than five minutes at a time.

This will give your child a feeling of control and won’t make him feel like you are always telling him what to do. If your child has hit someone else, you can offer two choices. For example, “Do you want to apologize for hitting or would you like to go into time-out until you calm down?”
6. Turn Mistakes Into Lessons
If your child snatches a toy from someone else, you can also use past experiences to help him understand why he should not do it. For example, you can say, “Do you remember when your friend snatched the toy you were playing with? It made you feel very bad, didn’t it? When you take something from someone, it makes them feel the same way.” Using this approach will help your child understand the emotions of his playmates and he will grow into a kind and compassionate person.
7. Set Boundaries and Expectations
If your child loves to play, that is great, but you need to set firm rules about playtime. For example, your child can play after finishing his homework, or he can have ice cream after he finishes all his vegetables.
8. Don’t Order
Rather than ordering or telling your child what to do, you can learn to adopt new ways of getting him to do what you want. For example, if your child has left his clothes on the bed without folding them, you can always ask “Where are we supposed to put our clothes?” instead of “Put your clothes in the wardrobe!”
9. Face the Consequences
If your child is refusing to listen to you and is still misbehaving, you can make him face the consequences of his bad behaviour. For example, if your child likes to watch a certain show, taking away that privilege on the day of misbehaviour can prove effective. However, don't be rude to your child.

Good behaviour should always be rewarded as it can encourage your child to keep behaving in that manner. Rewarding your child should not be confused with bribing your child. If you try to motivate your child by offering a reward if he behaves well, this is a bribe. Bribing children teaches them to be manipulative; if you continue bribing them, they will only do what you want if you give them something for it. So avoid that but do reward him when he does something good.

अपने आस-पास मैं ऐसे बहुत सारे लोगोें से मिलती हूँ जो बहुत दुःखी रहते हैं। बहुत सारे मेरे दोस्त है जो हमेशा मजबूरियों का रोना रोते है। मेरी सहेली रमा जिसकी सत्रह साल की बेटा उसकी बात नहीं मानता। सारा दिन मोबाइल पर दोस्तों के साथ चैटींग करता है या गेम खेलता है। रमा बहुत अवसाद में हैं कि वो एक अच्छी माँ नहीं बन पाई तथा तरह-तरह की बीमारियों ने उसे घेर रखा है। मेरी दूर के रिश्ते की ननद इसलिए दुःखी है क्योंकि उसके पति और ससुराल वाले उसकी किसी भी बात की सराहना नहीं करते थे।
मेरी पड़ोसन हमेशा दूसरी औरतों ने दीवाली में क्या साड़ी ली और करवा चौथ में क्या गहने खरीदे या उनको जन्म दिन/ सालगिरह में क्या उपहार में मिला इस बात से अपनी खुशियाँ नापती है। मेरी कुछ स्कूल की दोस्त है जो क्लास की टॉपर थी पर आज ससुराल में परिस्थितियों के दबाव में घर संभाल रही है, कहीं न कहीं उनके मन में अपनी पढ़ाई का उपयोग न होता देख दुःख हैं। कई बार आस पड़ोस या घर में कुछ ऐसा हो जाता है जिसे हम अपने पति से बांटना चाहते है और हमारे पति अपने काम के दबाव में या ( हमारे झमेले में पड़ना ही नही चाहते इसलिए) हमारी बात अनसुनी कर देते है।
पैसे किसे नहीं प्यारे होते और अगर वो खुद के कमाए हो तो क्या बात परन्तु कई बार महिलाएं को इतनी आजादी नहीं होती कि वो अपने कमाएं पैसो को अपनी मर्जी से खर्च कर सकें। कभी-कभी हम माँएं घर के कामों में इतना उलझ जाते है कि हमें अपने लिए समय ही नहीं मिलता। कुछ समय पूर्व तक इनमें से कई कारण मुझे भी दुःखी करते थे। शादी के अठारह सालों में मैं अपने आप को पहले के मुकाबले कहीं ज्यादा आत्मविश्वास से पूर्ण और किसी भी चुनौती से निपटने को तैयार पाती हूँ। शायद इसे ही परिपक्वता कहते है।
एक सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार ७०% माताएं अपने जीवन से खुश नहीं है। मैंने अपने जीवन में आजमाएं गये कुछ उपाय, कुछ मेरी माँ की सीख और कुछ मेरी दोस्तों की सलाह से अपने जीवन में बहुत बदलाव किये है। आज दावे के साथ कह सकती हूँ कि मैं सकारात्मकता से भरपूर एक खुशमिजाज इंसान हूँ।

१- मैं कितनी अच्छी माँ हूँ??
पहला प्रश्न आप अपने आप से किजिए क्या आप अपने बच्चे के लिए जो भी करती है उतना निस्वार्थ भाव से आपके बच्चे के लिए कोई कर सकता है। नहीं ना... फिर आपको किसी से प्रमाणपत्र लेने की जरूरत नहीं। एक पाँच साल के बच्चे से पूछ कर देखिये दुनिया की सबसे सुंदर, प्यारी और सबसे अच्छी माँ उसकी खुद की होती है। किशोरावस्था में हार्मोन के बदलाव के कारण अनेक बच्चे चिड़चिड़े हो जाते है, ऐसे में माँ (क्योंकि माँए ही ज्यादा रोक टोक करती है) की ज्यादा रोक-टोक से बच्चों को लगता है कि मेरी दोस्त की माँ शायद ज्यादा अच्छी है। इस समय थोड़े धैर्य के साथ बच्चों की सही परवरिश किजिए, जब जरूरत हो डांटिए पर बच्चे को आभास होना चाहिए कि गलती के कारण ही डांट पड़ी है और जब जरूरत हो ढेर सारा प्यार दिखाने में भी कोताही मत बरतिए। यह समय भी गुजर जाएगा। युवावस्था में बच्चे आपको ही आपना रोल मॉडल मानेंगे।
२- मेरे पति मुझे कितना सहयोग देते है??
किसी के पति बाहर के कामों जैसे कि राशन लाना, सब्जी लाना, बिजली/पानी के बिल भरना, बैंक के काम करना करते है तो किसी के पति खाना बनाने या बरतन धोने में पत्नी की मदद करते है। अगर पड़ोसी का पति खाना बनाने में या बच्चों को पढ़ाने का काम करता है तो हरगिज़ वो आपके पति से बेहतर नहीं है। आराम से आँखे बंद करके सोचिए कोई न कोई तो अच्छाई आपके पति में होगी ही। तो फिर उसी में खुश होकर इतराइये।
३- मेरे पास अपने लिए कितना समय है???
हर किसी का मन होता थोड़ा सा समय मैं खुद अपने तरीके से बिताउं। जब बच्चे स्कूल में और पति ऑफिस चले जाए तो एक घंटे सारे काम छोड़िए और जोर से म्यूज़िक ऑन किजिए और डांस किजिए या धीरे से गज़ल चलाकर आँखे बंद कर चुपचाप लेट जाइए या फिर जो दिल चाहें। क्या कहा जोएंट फैमिली है तो फिर जेठानी देवरानी के साथ अपनी टीम बनाइए। कोई भी काम आसान नहीं होता पर कोशिश तो करनी चाहिए एकबार।
४- क्या मेरे साथियों की जिंदगी मुझसे बेहतर है???
बचपन में माँ ने एक सीख दी थी सिर उठाकर ही नहीं सिर झुकाकर भी देखो.. खुशियों की १००% गारंटी है इस एक वाक्य में..इस प्रश्न को मैं हमेशा उल्टा पढ़ती हूँ। क्या मेरी जिंदगी साथियों से बेहतर है?? सकारात्मकता के साथ इस प्रश्न का उत्तर ढूंढिए पहले प्रश्न का उत्तर आपको मिल जाएगा। एक कहावत हमेशा याद रखिए दूर के ढोल सुहावने होते है।
५- मैं आर्थिक रूप से कितनी सशक्त हूँ???
आजकल के प्रत्येक माता-पिता अपनी बेटियों को अपने पैरों खड़ा करवाने के उद्देश्य से पढ़ाते है। एक लड़के के समान मेहनत करके जब उस लड़की को पारिवारिक कारणों से जॉब छोड़ना पड़े तो बहुत दुःख होता है। जॉब तभी छोड़े जब आपका मन हो और यदि अपने मन से जॉब छोड़ा हो तो उसका अफसोस न करें। अपनी जिम्मेदारियों के अनुसार ही भविष्य के बारे में सोचें। आजकल बहुत से काम घर बैठे भी हो जाते हैं। समय का सदुपयोग करें और ज्यादा नहीं तो थोड़ा आर्थिक संबल भी होगा आपके पास।
६- मेरे ससुराल वालों का कितना सहयोग मिलता है मुझे???
शायद ९०% से ज्यादा महिलाएं इसका उत्तर ना में देंगी। फिर जब आपको पता ही है तो इसका मातम क्यों मनाना? मैं खुद समर्थ हूँ अपने घर को चलाने के लिए। मेरे बच्चे मेरा घर मेरी जिम्मेदारी है मै स्वयं सक्षम हूँ। इस भावना के साथ सारी राहें आसान हो जाएंगी।
७- मेरे ऑफिस का माहौल कितना सहयोगी है??
ऑफिस कामकाजी महिलाओं का दूसरा घर होता है। आपसी सहयोग, प्रेम से तथा चुगलखोर और अति महात्वाकांक्षी लोगों से दूर रह कर आप ऑफिस में भी खुश रह सकती है। कभी-कभी ऑफिस के लोग पारिवारिक सदस्य बन जाते है।
८- मैं घर के कामों में कितना समय खर्च करती हूँ??
महिलाओं की आदत होती है घर के सारे कार्य खुद करने की। ज्यादातर महिलाएं खुद को गृह कार्य में दक्ष मान कर घर के सदस्यों से कोई कार्य नहीं करवाती। बच्चे छोटे हो तभी से उनसे छोटे मोटे कार्य करवाने शुरू करवा दिजिए जैसे बोतल मे पीने का पानी भरवाना, अपना सामन संभाल कर रखना इत्यादि।
९- स्क्रीन टाइम मैनेज करना
आपको याद है जब हम छोटे थे तब हर घर में एक नियम होता था कि संडे की फिल्म देखना है या कार्टून या रंगोली। पहले पढ़ाई करनी पड़ेगी। हमारे माता पिता हमसे ज्यादा स्मार्ट थे या हम अपने बच्चों से ज्यादा आज्ञा कारी ये बहस का विषय है पर मै अपने बच्चों को टाइम टेबल के अनुसार स्क्रीन टाइम मैनेज करवाती हूँ। शाम को बाहर खेलने जाना जरूरी है। फिर पौधो को मेरे साथ पानी देते हैं। जब तक मैं शाम का नाश्ता बनाती हूँ सिर्फ तब तक का स्क्रीन टाइम जो कि बमुश्किल आधा घंटे का होता है। फिर रात को पढ़ाई के बाद आधा घंटा मेरे खाना लगाने तक।
इन छोटी-छोटी बातों ने मेरे जीवन में बड़े बदलाव किये है। आप भी इन्हें आजमाएं और अपने जीवन को खुशहाल बनाएं।

Always keep a towel/bathrobe handy. If you notice that your baby is shivering or his fingers are getting too wrinkly, immediately get him out of the pool and wrap him in the towel.
Do not keep your child longer in the water than necessary. Start with short sessions of 10-15 minutes and go up to 20-30 minutes once his stamina builds up. For an infant, 30 minutes of swimming session is more than enough.
If your baby is suffering from cold, fever or conjunctivitis, avoid swimming till he is fully recovered.
If your baby has a skin-related problem, better check with your doctor, in case the condition worsens due to chlorinated water.
Make your child (if he is not potty-trained) wear swimming diapers. This keeps the pool clean and hygienic.
Ideas to Help Your Baby Enjoy Swimming
Instead of directly starting with the public pool, let your baby enjoy in a tub at home. Let him splash water all over and play around in the tub. This way, he will learn to enjoy the feel of water on his skin, and be comfortable with the idea of getting the water splashed on in a public pool.
Take your baby to a public pool at a time when there are fewer people around. With too many people and splashing of water all over, your child might get frightened.
Take him to the kiddie pool. When the baby or toddler realizes that his feet are touching the ground, he will feel more secure and comfortable.
You can enroll for parent-baby or parent-toddler swimming classes, where you get to enjoy the pool with your baby. With you around, your baby will feel more secured.
Take some pool toys like ball, ring and ducks, and throw them in the water. Now, walk your child through the water to retrieve them one by one.
Show your baby how to blow bubbles under water. You can’t inhale water if you are blowing. This is a very important lesson for your child to learn.
