Can Long-Term Use of Birth Control Pills Make it Difficult to Conceive?
Birth control pills are one of the most preferred options of contraceptives that are used by women all over the world. These pills are not only used by women for prevention of pregnancy sometimes but also for curing PCOS, endometriosis, acne, irregular menstrual cycle, PMS and other such issues. However, many of you, who may have been taking this pill regularly or have been taking this pill for a while, may wonder whether these pills can make conception difficult or take a toll on your fertility? Well, if you are interested to know, this post will help you gain some insight on the topic.
Can Birth Control Pills Cause Infertility?
No, taking any kind of birth control pill does not affect the fertility of a woman. Also, there is no scientific evidence available that finds a direct relation between prolonged use of birth control pills and infertility in women. But it has been observed that women who have been using birth control pills for a long time experienced a disruption in their menstrual cycle for a few months after they stop taking the pills. However, this condition of the disrupted menstrual cycle or post-pill amenorrhea usually happens due to some other underlying medical conditions and not because of taking the birth control pills. On the contrary, taking birth control pills have been found to have positive effects on fertility because prolonged usage of pills protects women from the dangers of uterine and ovarian cancer. It has also been proved that taking pills help women to fight abnormal menstrual bleeding caused due to endometriosis. Taking birth control pills also reduces the chances of ectopic pregnancies in women. Therefore, if you wish to know will the pill affect fertility later in life? Well, the fertility may not get affected by taking the pill, but it may get affected because of some other underlying issues.
How Can Birth Control Pills Negatively Impact Your Long-term Fertility?
Any kind of hormonal contraceptives that a woman takes may have its impact on her body. Although it may not impact the fertility, it may fiddle with the long-term fertility of a woman. Here are some ways in which taking birth control pills may negatively impact the long-term fertility of a woman.
1. It May Cause Hormonal Imbalance
Women may sometimes be prescribed birth control pills to overcome the problem of hormonal imbalance. However, prolonged use of the pills may hamper the natural production of progesterone and estrogens in the body. The synthetic production of hormones in the body can also fiddle with the natural hormone production and thus this may sometimes lead to fertility issues.
2. It May Disrupt the Menstrual Cycle
It has been observed that women who take these pills experience longer menstrual cycles and may have a shorter luteal phase, after stopping them. However, usually, these disruptions in the cycles may better approximately after nine months of stopping the pills.
3. It May Make Changes in the Cervical Mucus
Healthy cervical mucus helps the sperms to travel through the vagina and cervix to reach to the egg to fertilize it. However, taking birth control pills for longer periods may thicken the cervical mucus. The thicker cervical mucus may hamper the easy mobility of the sperms and thus may cause hindrances in the process of fertilization and cause problems in conception.
4. It May Cause Disruption in Ovulation
The birth control pills help release synthetic hormones in the body, which hamper the process of ovulation. However, this is not how the normal female body functions. Rather during the normal menstrual cycle, the body releases the hormones that prepare the follicle for ovulation, which may eventually lead to a pregnancy. However, when a woman takes the pill, it disrupts the natural flow of events, and the prolonged usage of the pills may make the ovaries not do its job properly. This kind of situations may give rise to fertility issues in women.
5. It May Make Changes in the Uterine Lining
It is important for a woman to have a healthy uterine lining in order to let the fertilized egg to plant itself on it. However, women who take birth control pills for longer periods of time may experiences changes in their uterine lining, which means their uterine lining becomes unreceptive for embryo implantation. This happens because the release of synthetic hormones in the body affects the natural hormonal production that is required to maintain a healthy uterine lining that supports implantation.
As per a study conducted on women who used birth control pills, it had been observed that approximately 20 percent of women became pregnant within one month after they stopped taking the pill. And approximately 80 percent of women conceived within one year after they stopped taking the birth control pill. However, there are some studies available that take into consideration the long-term risks for women who took birth control pills for an extended period of time.
If you have stopped taking your pills, your periods must have become normal. But if you are not able to conceive, you must be thinking that it is because of taking birth control pills. Well, that may not be the case because infertility may not result from taking birth control pills. There are many reasons that may cause infertility in both men and women.
If you have been facing problems in conceiving after you stopped taking birth control pills, it is suggested that you take your doctor’s advice on the matter and know what may be causing the problem.

These must-have bras are the backbone of your wardrobe and keep your clothes and your silhouette looking spot on at all times.
9 Types of Bras Every Girl Should Know About
Here's a list of essential bras that'll never turn obsolete in your lingerie section.
1. T-Shirt Bra
Also called the seamless or contour bra, the t-shirt bra adds rigidity, and acts as a minimizer. It also 'disappears' and don't show any bumps or lumps under the fabric in form-fitting or clingy fabric. Perfect for the well-fitted t-shirts and tops, the t-shirt bra is a must-have
2. Underwire Bra
The wire that is sewn into the underside of the bra-cup rounds the shape of your breasts and provides support, while also providing a structure. This bra is loved and hated in equal parts but the key lies in finding the right one with the wire in double or triple wrapped casings.
3. Push-up Bra
If you have gone through most of your life wishing for a voluptuous figure that models possess, here’s the cheat sheet for you. A push-up bra is one of the different styles of bras that enhances your figure by giving you a firmer and fuller bust-line, not to mention a killer cleavage. Pair this bra with clothes that have a V or plunging neckline and feel sexy on that dinner date with hubby. What's more, this is also perfect for new moms who're battling the issue of disproportionate and sagging breasts post pregnancy. This bra will give that extra lift to your breasts as well as your confidence.
4. Sports Bra
Whether you're trying hard to torch that post-baby fat or like to go for a little run on the treadmill to stay fit, a sports bra should definitely figure on your list of important bras. Any high or low impact exercise routine cannot be done without the support of a sports bra. This bra holds on to your breasts and prevents them from getting injured and sagging. Put the same effort you take in picking out the perfect sports shoes while selecting innerwear - your workout can only be as comfortable as your bra!
5. Balconette Bra
The cut of the bra reveals more of the top and inner parts of the breasts, and the straps are wide-set to show more shoulder skin. The balconette bra has a variant - the demi cup bra that has an even lower cut and is perfect for low neck tops!
6. Strapless Bra
Like the name suggests, this bra comes sans straps. Armed with this kind of bra in your kitty, you wouldn't have to worry about peeping straps. Make sure you pick one that has a rubber outline for a perfect fit that sticks to your skin just right. Perfect for those cold-shoulder tops, choose a bra with one band size smaller and one cup size larger than your regular measurements.
7. The Convertible Bra
This one's quite a versatile star in the lingerie department. If you prefer making sensible purchases for your everyday bras, a convertible bra can be just the thing for it can be easily converted from a regular to a strapless to a T-back bra. You can wear anything from a racer back top, a halter dress or a boat neck blouse easily.
8. Sticky Bra
As the name suggests, these bras stick on with adhesive to the skin. Support and coverage in the front, sexy in the back! These bras are perfect for tops with a lot of cuts, plunges or skin -show, but the biggest drawback is that these bras don't provide any support to the breasts. Still a must for those date night outfits!
9. Nursing Bra
While it is a good idea to have different bra types in your lingerie drawer, its important to realise that once you've had a baby, you will be spending a good amount of the day nursing your child. Designed to accommodate your pregnancy breasts, nursing bras offer plenty of room and support, as well as tending to your nursing needs. You need a nursing bra that allows you to unfasten the cups from the top to reveal the breast. New mums, don’t forget to invest in a couple of these bras to stay comfortable and free while nursing!
While it is a wise move to have these kinds of bras at your disposal, there’s no reason not to indulge your whims in picking up a pair or two of sexy lacy bra and panty sets too. Don't forget to pick a bra in a nude colour to go with cream lace tops and dresses in light colours. With these bras in your intimate arsenal, you'll always have the right bra to go with your outfits.
Well, there you have it! Keep yourself equipped with a couple of these beauties so that your ‘girls’ can have all the love and support they deserve! Read more

Traces of Dreaded Polio Type 2 Virus Found in Polio Vaccines: Experts Recommend Caution
When India was declared polio-free in the year 2014, the country heaved a collective sigh of relief. Which is exactly why the resurgence of the Polio type 2 virus in certain parts of the country is worrisome, to say the least.
As has been reported in the past couple of days, traces of the virus were found in a sample of sewage from Kurla, Mumbai, in the month of August. Soon after, a case was reported in Uttar Pradesh where a child tested positive for the same strain of the virus. Health ministry officials have also confirmed that some vials of the oral polio vaccines (OPV) were administered to a few children in the states of Maharashtra, Telengana, and Uttar Pradesh.
The vials were manufactured and distributed by a Ghaziabad-based pharmaceutical company called Biomed, which was in charge of supplying polio vaccines for immunisation programmes run by the government only. At the moment, the company has been banned from further supply and manufacture of these vaccines.
As per the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), children over 2 years of age received trivalent OPV as part of their routine immunisation, up until it was discontinued in 2016. Post this period, children have been receiving bivalent OPV along with doses of inactivated polio vaccine (IPV). Given that the coverage of IPV is quite vast in India, it is unlikely that a spread of the Type 2 virus could cause much harm to the population.
Currently, polio surveillance teams in the above-mentioned states will ensure that the children who have been administered the vaccines are closely monitored for any symptoms. Health officials have also confirmed that the team is well-trained to identify any symptoms of polio and that the government is prepared for any eventuality, which offers some reassurance. Measures are also being taken to ensure the administration of IPV to all the children in the 3 affected states, to make sure no child is missed.
EXPERT SPEAK
We got in touch with Dr Arti Sharma (MBBS, MD, Paediatrics), who provided her take on the situation. She maintained that the necessary measures have been implemented to tackle the situation urgently, and that there is no reason to panic at the moment. Reiterating the stand taken by the IAP, she mentioned that the damage or spread of the virus would be quite limited. However, she recommended caution when it came to receiving further doses of the vaccine, until further instruction was provided by the authorities.
While the situation does seem scary at the moment, the government is taking all the possible measures to tackle this eventuality. We urge all caretakers and guardians to wait for further instructions from the concerned authorities with regard to following through with their child’s immunisation schedule.

Playing with your Baby without Spending too much
Homemade toys and activities are a great way to keep children entertained and help them learn and grow. The best part is that it doesn’t cost you anything, and helps in the development of your child’s creativity.
Activities are a wonderful way to show kids that learning can be fun. These activities for kids include hands-on projects and games that are both interesting and educational. Alongside homemade toys, you can use readily available items such as fabrics, bottles, cardboard boxes, yarn, cooking pans, etc. to play with your little ones. This helps develop the child’s ability to process information and understand how things work. Toys and activities provide new opportunities for developing cognitive skills.
Types of Cost-Effective Games for Toddlers
1. Unstructured Play
This is the best game for young children. It is a kind of activity that totally depends on the child’s mood at that particular time. The child does whatever he imagines. Examples of unstructured play include:
Creative play (drawing or musical games)
Imaginative games (dressing up or building houses with boxes)
Exploring the environment (roaming around in the park or playground)
2. Structured Play
These games are organized and can be played at a particular place and time, and are often supervised by a grownup. Examples of structured play:
Swimming lessons
Storytelling
Dance or music classes
Board games
Ideas for Baby Play
Making faces with your child or poking out your tongue is a great way to play with him.
Amusing your child by making animal noises or singing.
Encouraging your child whenever he tries to crawl, walk or stand.
Reading to your child is important, as it makes him think that it is a special way to spend time with you.
Give attention to your little one and his interests.
Advantages of Playing with your Baby
1. It Boosts Your Child’s Imagination
Almost anything can spur your child's imagination, including everyday objects. Pretending or imaginative play, is one of the foundations of a young child's world. Kids begin demonstrating this behaviour around the age of 2.
2. Helps Develop Social Skills
Once your child is comfortable with the people around him and his friends of the same age, he will start to develop social skills by interacting with others on play dates organized by you.
3. Helps in The Physical Development of Your Child
Different types of physical play helps develop different skills. For example, skipping requires balance, climbing monkey bars builds strength, and sports activities involve coordination. Large motor skills, such as running, throwing, and pedaling can come in the later years.
4. Help kids Discover Their Emotional Self
From a very early age your child communicates his emotions via different physical gestures or pretend play, before he can speak. When children have experiences that are hard to understand, they review those experiences again and again through play, to get a better grasp of it.
So give your child a positive environment to give wings to his imagination. Let him have fun the way he wants, and encourage him to play with different objects at home to broaden his horizons. Read more

Marriage: “Love/Arranged” It doesn’t matter!!
What matters is “Love & Trust”
Let me firstintroduce myself as a newbee in writing blogs. Enclosed are my personal views in relationships.
"Love marriage or Arranged marriage" which is better?
Mmmm.. I think it completely depends on the people or maybe i should say ‘the couple’.. right?
Let’s abbreviate Love marriage as ‘LM’ and Arranged marriage as ‘AM’
There are countless couples enjoying their lives after AMand the same after LMas well. Same time in present scenario.. there are many AMgetting torn apart soon after the marriage or later. Talking about the LM...yes there are
a lot of them getting divorced too.. so which is better?
There is no physicalmedium to weigh the relationships except Love and Trust.
Love is an eternal feeling. It doesn’t matter whether its love or arranged marriage. Relationships have to be builtin trust.
In a LM,most ofthe couple already know their partners taste, character and views. Therefore, most of them gets to adjust with each other a lot faster compared to an AM.Whereas, in an AMmostly it will be a rollercoaster ride of emotions soon after marriage in adjusting with the pretty new environment. Mostly it depends on how much time you got to spend or convey your viewswith your partner before marriage. Still there are people who gets comfortable a lot easier after an AM without getting much time to get to knoweach other. Therefore it truly depends on an individual. Actually saying AM, are a good way of starting a relationship as it gives a lot of excitement to know more about your better half.
Now coming to the TRUTH.. all the above statements are applicable only at the beginning after marriage, let’s say an year or two after marriage. What happens after that?
We are all a species called HUMANS. Humans changes their nature or character according to their circumstances or surroundings they are living in. Our brains develop numerous hormones according to the moods and living environment of an individual. So what i am about to say is...
Characteristics of an individual won’t be the same throughout his/her life. Therefore it couldn’t be the same before marriage and few years after marriage, this is human science. An individuals behaviour could get bad, good or be the same. But what most of the couple should try to keep in mind is to Love and Trust your partner. There may be many Ups and Downs in a marriage. But always you should remember it takes two hands to clap. Therefore, when there are blowups in your marriage try minimizing it to a one hand clap where the sound doesn’t come out which eventually leads to the settlement of matter sooneror later. The before said statement is applicable to both the parties ie; husband and wife.
I couldgivea lot of examples and scenarios to support my viewswhich eventually drags this topic.
Therefore, comingto a conclusion: LM or AM,it doesn’t matter. The relationships truly depends on the individual’s or couples. Lets foresee beautiful marriages which lasts longer and forever through Love and Trust. So that we all can say together "Happily Everafter....!!"
