8 Fun Ways to Engage Your Toddler and Boost Development Too!
The first few years of your child’s life are arguably the most crucial because that is when they’re easy to mould. Toddlers are curious little humans – they want to touch, smell, see, and hear everything and have fun with it! Engaging the senses isn’t just a cute trait in babies – it is essential for development. This is why doctors advise parents to play with their babies as much as they can – it fosters the development of their brain and body, making them stronger.
Developing your child’s motor skills at an early age is important as these things help the child learn better, remember better, and consequently, have a brighter future.

Why Is Motor Skill Development Important?
Motor development simply means using one’s body. For babies, motor skills are important as they help the overall development of the brain as well. While gross motor skills involve things like getting out of bed and walking, fine motor skills involve activities that are more nuanced – unbuttoning a shirt, holding a crayon, zipping up a pant, picking up an object and placing it on the ground. Your little one at this point can walk, but sharpening her ability to hold things and place them according to instructions is what will help her brain development.
Fine motor skills are important as they boost hand-eye coordination and cognitive development.
Fun Activities for Your Toddler to Develop Fine Motor Skills
Fine motor skills pave way for better body coordination, and hence, better functioning. There are several ways you can boost your toddler’s fine motor skills that will be fun for her and help the two of you bond.
Here we have 8 activities for you to do with your child to boost her development:
1. Guess How ‘Tall’ She Is
This one’s as entertaining as it is helpful!
Take a few apples and put them on the floor.
Sit down on the floor with your child and ask her to keep her legs straight.
Ask her to place an apple next to her body, starting with her feet.
Slowly, tell her to place one apple in line with the other, parallel to her body. Help her out with the apples when the line reaches her head. Put them close to her, but let her place them herself.
When done, ask her to get up without touching the apples to see how many apples tall she is!
You can do this activity using blocks or any other object that your child can easily lift.
This activity involves picking up and putting objects down, which will build dexterity.
2. Sketch-and-paste
This is a simple and fun activity that your child will enjoy doing.
You Will Need:
A paper
A marker
Colourful pom poms
Glue
Camlin Child Grip Crayons
How to Do:
Using the marker, draw an outline of an object.
Put the paper in front of your child and make her colour the object using the crayons.
Once done, show her the pom poms and ask her to stick them along the outline of the object. Help her with the glue, but allow her to place the pom poms herself.
This activity is great for cognitive development, as she will be carefully watching the outline as she sticks pom poms along it. It will help her develop hand-eye coordination. Colouring is an essential activity here - Camlin Child Grip Crayons are built in a way that allows the child to hold the crayon and glide it around with ease. Its easy grip helps build fine motor skills as she will be able to use it well! The different coloured pom poms will help with cognitive development too.
3. Play ‘Simon Says’
A lot of us have played this game as children, and it is as beneficial to the development of the child as it is fun!
Make your child a ‘follower’, and name yourself ‘Simon’. Explain to your child that whoever is ‘Simon’ gets to order, and the ‘follower’ must obey that order.
In this game, order your child to do small things such as touching her feet, holding her ears, or grabbing something in the house and giving it to you.
For example, you could say, “Simon says, pick up the ball!” and your child will have to pick up the ball. You could go with any amount of variation with this – make sure you let her do things that involve her hands!
4. Play Catch
This is a simple one that will also give your child a good boost of energy! Take your child out in a garden or a playground and take a soft-textured ball with you. Make her stand slightly further from you and pass the ball to her. Allow her to go down and pick it up and throw it to you. You do the same. Picking up and holding the ball will get her accustomed to using her fingers and hands to get something done. Not to mention, her hand-eye coordination will also get some practice!
5. Wall Drawing
Yes, you read that right – encourage your child to draw on the walls of her room! Draw an outline of a small scenery – some clouds, the sun, a mountain or a tree. Then, encourage her to fill in these outlines with her favourite colours and let her imagination run wild! Just one rule – encourage her to colour within the lines. This will help her develop an understanding of shapes and depth.
We know what you’re thinking – how will you clean up the walls after your child is done with her little masterpiece? Well, you don’t have to worry about that any longer – Camlin’s Child Grip Crayons are washable on porous surfaces and can be cleaned in a jiffy. So, you don’t have to stop your child from getting creative all around the house. Let her imagination soar!
6. Ask Her to Make Something With Clay or Atta
This activity will come in handy when you’re busy in the kitchen! Just give her some of the dough you are using and ask her to turn it into a fun shape. If you have some time on your hands, ask her to watch what you are doing with the dough and imitate you. Make sure she presses, moulds and rolls the dough as much as she can with her fingers.
This activity promotes the use of fingers which builds dexterity. Using differently coloured clay is also a great idea as it helps with cognitive development.
7. Separate Coloured Objects
This is a great exercise you can do with your child at home that will boost her fine motor skills. Take a few objects of different colours and scatter them on the floor. Then, ask your child to separate them by colour. You could try this with coloured blocks, buttons, tiles, etc. Make sure to supervise her as she does the activity so that she does not accidentally put something in her mouth.
This colour separating activity is great in two ways – the picking up and dropping of objects is great for hand-eye coordination, and the colours make the child understand the concept of depth and distinguishing objects from each other.
8. Get Her a Colouring Book
This one’s great for busy, working parents. Sit down with your child and allow her to colour a page in a colouring book. Allow her to get as creative as she wants; just make sure to guide her with the edges and lines. Camlin’s Child Grip Crayons are an excellent option for your child – the shape of the crayons facilitates a good grip, which is beneficial for your child’s fine motor skills. The crayons are non-toxic and washable, which will allow your child to get as creative as she wants without making a mess. After all, creativity is best developed when it is unbound!
So, these were fun and engaging activities for your toddler that will not only boost her fine motor and cognitive skills but also strengthen your bond with your child. These activities are a great start for when your child grows older and learns words, sentences, mathematics problems, or even picks up a sport! Toddlers are easily moulded at this age; start now!

What Milestones Baby Should Reach by 11 Months of Age?
The development of a baby can be categorised into three main sections: physical development, motor skills, cognitive development, and social and emotional development. Babies at this age grow fast and learn even faster. They are now determined to become more independent and will even begin to experiment a lot more since they are now able to move around by themselves to a certain extent.
Physical and Motor Skills
Here we will look at how an 11-month-old develop physical and motor skills:
Your baby begins to learn to change his position in order to be able to reach things better.
Your baby may seem wobbly at first but now is when your baby will have learnt to stand without any support.
“Cruising” is the term that is used to refer to a baby learning to walk by using other objects for support.
Babies of this age will not make much progress when it comes to climbing all the stairs, but they will manage to scale a few given enough time.
At this point, your baby has developed better motor and muscle capacity and now has a better grip on objects.
Cognitive Development
Here are the cognitive developments your child should have made by 11 months:
At this age, babies are beginning to learn the names of the people and objects they interact with on a regular basis.
Babies are developing their spatial skills at this point. This is where they learn to observe the shapes and sizes of objects and then manipulate them.
Your little one begins to understand how to use his cup, lifting it to his mouth to drink. He may also start to lift the comb directly to his head if he sees it. He is learning how things work.
Your baby will now be able to communicate his disapproval towards certain things like if he is not enjoying a meal, he will show it by shaking his head in order to say “No".
Social and Emotional Development
Here are the milestones to look out for in your child related to his social and emotional development:
Your baby now exclusively knows who mama is and who dada is and will even know whom he needs depending on the situation.
If put in a situation where a baby has to interact with a lot of people, he will naturally go freely to the people he knows, often giving them warm smiles. With people he doesn’t know, he may show nervousness and unwillingness to leave the familiar person he is with.
Your baby will now display a wide range of emotions. He knows how to express his displeasure, throwing a tantrum when he does not like the situation he is in or the outcome of an action, like taking away his toys to put him to bed.
Babies of this age will usually engage in parallel play; this is when they play alongside but not with another child.
Communication Skills
Here are some communication skills your baby is developing at this age:
Your baby will learn to indicate his wants through his actions.
At this age, babies may show an interest in a two-way conversation.
Your baby can now follow a number of actions and may even try imitating some expressions and words from you and your partner.
Your baby can now follow simple requests such as “Could you please give me that block?”
Eating Milestones
Some eating milestones that your baby will reach this age are:
Your baby will start feeding himself with his fingers and will also start to experiment with a spoon.
By this time, his sense of taste will start developing.
He may begin eating a more varied diet of pureed or mashed solid foods.
Some fussy eaters may not want to eat new food that is offered to them. Try offering it to them at least eight to twelve times before they get used to it.
When to be Worried
Here are some things to watch for during your baby’s development:
At this age, babies should be able to stand and at least attempt their first steps. So if your baby still hasn’t begun to crawl at all, you may want to visit your doctor.
Babies are fast learners, and if you help them out at this age, they will eventually get the hang of standing. However, if you notice that your child’s legs look loose and shaky when he stands or is not able to stand even with support, consult your doctor.
Babies by this age start babbling and try to imitate what you say. If your baby does not utter a single word, then you may need to get your baby checked by a doctor.
If you call out to your baby from behind a closed door, your baby will immediately turn towards the sound of your voice, even if he cannot see you, and since he knows you are there, he will keep looking at it. This requires all the baby’s senses to be working in harmony. If your baby seems confused, his sensory functioning may be poor, which is a bad sign.
Ways to Help Your Child Reach the Milestones
Help your baby reach his 11-month-old baby development milestones with a few simple steps:
Play with him in a way that enables him to practice and develop his new skills and take him to a park to socialise.
Help your baby be independent by allowing him to comb his own hair if he likes to, or by letting him feed himself.
Read to your baby with the help of simple storybooks with colourful pictures. Your baby may try to say the name of a familiar picture you point to in his books. This helps in developing memory and speech.
Your little one can link words and actions by now, and it is important to start to cut baby talk out of your conversations. This will help to improve and grow your baby’s basic vocabulary.
Always remember that each baby will reach these milestones at the rate they are comfortable in. As long as it doesn’t match up to any of the signs to be worried about, all you need to do is keep going for your regular doctor’s appointments and help your baby out through your simple everyday activities.

Be a Sleeping Beauty to Wake Up Prettier Than Ever!
Sleep essential for a fresh mind and an energised body, but this alone doesn't suffice for healthy looking skin. A little more effort can make you look drop dead gorgeous. Learn how to maintain a simple night skincare routine for healthy and young looking skin.
The dirt and filth our skin is exposed to can have unpleasant repercussions if it stays through the night too. Giving your skin a thorough clean-up right before you get snuggle into bed is very essential. As a mom, it's understandable if you feel too drained at the end of the day to take up a time-consuming skin care regime. What you can do is to follow these simple and easy nighttime beauty tricks to keep your skin glowing every morning.
Make Your Skin Glow Every Morning
1. Clear All the Makeup
An essential beauty tip for moms before they retire to bed is to wipe off all the make-up you'd applied in the day. A night cream or a face mask will be of no good if the dirt accumulated from the day isn't removed from the face.
2. Warm Cleansing
Use lukewarm water to wash your face and make it squeaky-clean. Warm water cleanses the skin thoroughly and opens the pores, which make cleansing effective.
3. Mild Scrubbing and Exfoliation
Once the pores are open, use a mild or home-made scrub to wash away the filth. Focus key areas like sides of the nose, around the chin and sides of the face where dirt accumulates the most. Don't overdo scrubbing, as it then removes excess oil from the skin that'll make your face look dull and dry.
4. Moisturise
No matter how much you clean your face with a cleanser and wash thoroughly, nighttime skin care is incomplete if you don't give your skin a generous lick of moisturiser. Moisturising deeply nourishes the skin and makes it supple. Just leave a gap of at least 15 minutes between when you apply a moisturiser and go off to sleep, so the cream penetrates well and doesn't just rub off your pillow.
5. Hydrate to Wake up Beautiful
The amount of water we drink is reflected by the quality of our skin. Drinking water before bedtime gives our body the time to nourish the skin and hair. Water acts as a cleanser and detoxifies the body too, so drink up!
6. Keep the Surroundings Clean
After having a soothing cleaning session all is a waste if you sleep on pillows and sheets that you've used over and over. Change the bacterium-filled bed covers and pillow covers to help your skin wake up beautiful after a clean good nights sleep.
7. Practice Sleeping on Your Back
Along with doing everything right, sleeping correctly is necessary for good skin too. Beauty experts can tell what side you sleep by looking at the fine lines on your face. So pick a satin pillow and practice sleeping on the back. It might sound impossible for some, but anything is possible with practice.
Following a thorough night skin care routine is essential to give the skin a good time to repair itself and look fresh each morning. Following a simple and non-time consuming bedtime beauty routine will enable your skin to look youthful, always! Read more

A. yes
whenever you give any new food to the child you have to take care of two things.
you should give in small quantity. if the child doesn't develop any digestion problem in next 24 hours to 48 hours and the child is able to digest that food then that food can be given again.
but if the child is not able to digestc or there is some problem with vomiting or loose motion or colic pain then kindly avoid that food.
we wait for 2 to 3 days to confirm whether the child is having any problem to that particular food or not
