Baby Size — Week by Week Comparison with Fruits and Veggies
From the moment of conception to delivery, your baby grows by leaps and bounds inside you. The gestational age of a baby is initially determined using ultrasound scans using markers like sac length and length from crown to rump. This is because every baby grows at the same pace only up to a certain stage of pregnancy. Here, we attempt to explain how big your baby is getting with each passing week using fruits and veggies as examples.
How Big Is Your Baby?
Studying your baby size during pregnancy is fascinating. At the time of conception, your baby is discernable. The size of the foetus at every stage during pregnancy is used as a benchmark to determine if the pregnancy is progressing normally and your baby is growing as she ought to be. When you’ve just become pregnant, your baby is barely the size of a seed. From this size, your baby will gain up to 3.5 kilos of weight by the time she is born.
Baby Size: Weeks 1 to 3
At this stage, the fertilisation of the egg happens in the mother’s body and the zygote attaches itself to the uterus. Your baby has just been formed at this stage and begins growing from two cells.
Week 4 Baby Size
In medical terms, the baby is called a blastocyst. If one had the chance to look at the baby, it would look like a group of cells bunched up together like a ball. It would be comparable to the size of a poppy seed.
Baby Weight:
The baby’s weight is barely discernible at this stage, weighing in at less than a gram.
Baby Length:
Your baby is very tiny at this stage and can be identified as a sac in the ultrasound scan. The baby would be less than 3mm in length.
How You Will Feel:
This is the start of the first signs that you are pregnant - bleeding and mild cramping, for example. However, most women dismiss these symptoms as they can easily be confused with the symptoms of the start of the menstrual cycle.
Week 5 Baby Size
Your baby is roughly the size of an apple seed. During this phase, organs such as the liver and kidney begin to form.
Baby Weight:
The baby’s weight at this stage is negligible; it is less than a gram.
Baby Length:
At this stage, the baby is about 0.13 inches long.
How You Will Feel:
You will start experiencing some of the more apparent symptoms of pregnancy, such as morning sickness and frequent urination.
Week 6 Baby Size
Your baby’s size can be compared to that of a sweet pea. During this phase, the eyes, nose, tongue, and vocal cords begin to form.
Baby Weight:
Your baby will be too small to have any significant weight.
Baby Length:
Your baby will measure just 0.25 inches in length at this stage.
How You Will Feel:
Your baby bump may still not be visible, but you may experience pregnancy-related issues like mood swings, cramps, and sore breasts.

Baby Weight:
The baby’s weight is still negligible.
Baby Length:
At this stage, your baby measures between 13 and 18 mm in length.
How You Will Feel:
A few moms-to-be might get lucky and not experience any symptoms at all, but most pregnant women will experience nausea, food cravings, and acne.
Week 8 Baby Size
As you approach the 8-week mark, your baby will be half an inch in length and the size of a kidney bean. The baby has just about ‘lost its tail’ and has fingers that are webbed in nature.

How to Teach Kids The Pronouns He and She
Now that your child has started talking non-stop, it is time for you to teach him some fun things about speaking the language correctly. The basic gender-identifying pronouns of “he” and “she” are easy for your child to understand and a great kick start to his journey in grammar.
It is important that your child understands the difference between a boy and a girl – visually and mentally. You can do this using pictures in books as well as by pointing to people in real life and asking your child to tell you whether they are a boy or a girl. Bonus tip – research has proved that cartoon characters seem to work really well here!
1. Teach Him Use Pronouns In Very Short Sentences
Now that your child knows the difference between a boy and a girl, work toward building the association between the pronouns “he” and “she” for them respectively. You can do this as part of daily conversation and activity time. For example, point toward two characters in his picture book – a boy and a girl. Now point toward the bowl of soup he is drinking. So, who wants to share the soup? It’s either “he” or “she” who does.
2. Use He and She With Simple Verbs
Seeing these pronouns in action, literally, will help your child learn to use them. There are a number of simple verbs you could deploy for this practice – eat, walk, sing, dance, etc. Whenever you spot someone doing the said things, make simple sentences like “He eats” or “She is dancing”. The same can also be done through books. Your child will soon be able to tell the difference and start using such phrases himself.
3. Start Using Pronouns in Everyday Speech
Finally, now that your kids have a better hang of the whole concept, it’s time to start using it in normal talking! Try and use these pronouns all the time when you’re in the park, meeting family, or at the mall. Ask questions like “What is he eating?” emphasising the “he”, or “Should we use he or she for that person by the ice-cream parlour?”
4. Correct Your Child If They’re Wrong
If your child makes mistakes, which he certainly will at the outset, kindly correct them without being obvious. For example, repeat his sentence back to him with the correct pronoun. Or, tell him that you are going to help him with the pronouns whenever he forgets to use the correct one. This way he will see you as a pal and the whole thing will be much more fun! Please also remember that possessive variations such as “his” and “hers” are still too complicated for your child until he masters “he
and “she”. So do not push him at this stage.
The process of teaching and learning pronouns can be a fun, albeit long, exercise. Your child is still learning to come to terms with many facets of language. Just be patient, keep practising, and remember that both of you are doing a great job! Read more

10 Awkward Things All Of Us Have Faced on a Trip To The Beauty Parlour
We all have that love-hate relationship with the parlour ladies – can't deal with their upfront comments, but can't do without their help. Here are 10 awkward things you would have definitely faced on your visit to the beauty parlour!
Being a woman comes with some perks, and yes, a pampering session at a beauty salon once in a fortnight/month is one of them. However, these visits don't necessarily turn out to be relaxing all the time. You expect you are going to walk out with a heightened sense of self confidence post that haircut, but you are mostly in for some amusing (and unnerving!) comments by your stylist! Sounds familiar?
Well, it is a common situation most women face when they go to a beauty parlour. Here are a list of 10 situations which you must have faced at least once in your life!
1. 'Your hair is very damaged, we will have to cut at least THIS much'
Went for a hair trim and got a new hairdo instead? Well, chances are you had been told that the ends of your hair were extremely rough and damaged, and perhaps to salvage them, you must chop them off!

2. 'Such rough hair growth on the legs. Did you use a razor?'
Waxing is painful enough, but ladies at the parlour definitely know how to make it unbearable! The small talks that happen during waxing are mostly about how uneven your hair growth is and how difficult it is to uproot them. And God forbid if you told them you had shaved the previous month, because a series of unsolicited advice will follow.
3. 'Please just clean the extras and don't make my eyebrows thin'
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="177"] Source: GIPHY[/caption]
The fortnightly ritual of an 'eyebrow-upperlip' is on every woman's agenda. And as a mandate, whenever you say 'please extra nikal dena, eyebrow patla mat karna' (just clean the area and don't make them thin), the beautician would nod and agree. But, come the time of revelation, you will only notice a thin layer of hair above your eyes, because apparently, 'shape kharab ho gaya tha!' (your eyebrows were out of shape). Sounds familiar?
4. 'We will have to use extra blush to hide your pimples. Your face is full of them!'
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="660"] Source: GIPHY[/caption]
Ever gone to get make up done at a parlour? Then you definitely must have heard about how oily/rough your skin has become and how badly those blackheads and pimples are visible on your face, ruining your look. Quick fix – you need ‘expert’ beauty tips and tricks and an extra layer of make up! Extra layer of foundation, extra layer of concealer or maybe even blush. The concept of a light make up is too farfetched!
5. 'Only clean-up will not help, you must get bleaching done too'
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Source: GIPHY[/caption]
you have gone to the parlour to get one thing done, chances are that you will end up availing a minimum of 2 extra services! The logic given is that all 3 services are mutually exclusive and availing just one of them is not really going to help at all. Surprised how easy it is to convince you for this? Because just a regular facial or a clean-up has helped no one ever!
6. 'Where did all my money go? - Me to Myself At The Parlour'
Have you ever been convinced to use a higher quality product for the same service and ended up wondering where all your money literally just went? Well guess what, you aren't alone. Fruit facials end up becoming diamond and a normal waxing session ends up being a chocolate wax procedure. Yup, you are almost always convinced that it's the best suited for 'your skin' and yes, the struggle is always real.
7. 'Your hair is so frizzy, my hairbrush just doesn't go through them'
As if you yourself aren't struggling with your frizzy hair enough, trust the parlour lady to make you feel worse about it. Sentences like these always end with a suggestion to go for those highly expensive permanent hair straightening procedures.
8. 'Where do you work? How much do they pay you?'
Perhaps the first step to gauge how much you are able to afford is to get a fully detailed update on your current bank statement! You are often interrogated about your life, family, work and ultimately pay slip. It's all a trap!
9. 'Your underarms are really dark'
Yes, while getting your underarms waxing done, this statement is uttered quite often. As if you are not aware of your own skin tone or your body that people at a beauty salon always need to give you a validation for it.
10. 'You never use sunscreen or what?! The damage is irreversible'
Those blemishes, black heads, fine lines, dull skin and every other related skin flaw is probably because you have not been using sunscreen at all. Therefore now, your only resort is to avail those expensive facials, because the damage is permanent. Or that brand of sunscreen the parlous displays on the shelves…

10 Best Ways to Handle Criticism at Work
Criticism is not only inevitable but a necessity when people work together in a team. Although it is never pleasant, criticism is an important element in the feedback mechanism which makes us better at who we are and what we do. Learning how to take criticism positively is an important life skill and so is discerning negative criticism from the well-intended one.
How to Deal with Criticism at the Workplace
When criticism is accepted constructively, it can help you become better. If you are not sure about how to deal with criticism positively, these ten tips will come in handy.
1. Looking at Criticism the Right Way
Nobody enjoys criticism, it often challenges our being and conduct, but as hard it is to accept, it’s a reality of our social lives. The ability to respond to criticism with humility and detachment is a great skill that few people possess. Much suffering can be avoided if we can handle it with careful consideration. Most criticism from honest individuals is usually based on some truth, and through it, we have a chance to learn and get better. However, not all criticism targeted at us carries good intent, some may be intended to harm, but over time, experience teaches us how to discern the useful ones from the ill-natured.
2. Focus More on the Suggestion and Not the Tone
Quite often positive, constructive criticism gets drowned in the poor tone or the style in which it is delivered. It can be of great loss if you focus more on how it was said rather than what was said, especially if the tone was confrontational. To benefit from it, try and separate emotion from the criticism. It can be difficult at first, but once you master this detachment from emotion, it is possible to extract the useful suggestions the criticism might carry.
3. Don’t Get Defensive or Make Excuses
Getting defensive is an instinctive response to criticism. Your critic may be pointing at something important, but you’ll never get it if you are engaged in thinking about how to defend yourself. Fighting the urge to defend yourself is even more important when you know that there is truth in what your critic is saying. When you get defensive and start making excuses, you interrupt the other person and derail their line of thought. In the end, you wind up losing the positive input that you may have received if you hadn’t become defensive. It takes a lot of maturity to attentively listen to what the critic is saying even when they have got a few things wrong.
4. Avoid Taking It Personally
Taking things personally is one of the most common issues regarding criticism. If you wish to know how to handle criticism better, the first thing to begin is to avoid taking it personally. When your boss gives critical feedback regarding your drop in productivity, it’s not that they think you are lazy. Instead, they’re suggesting stepping up your game. The criticism that’s constructive is always directed at your work and how it can be improved. The criticism that targets your pride or envy is also constructive.
5. Take Time to Analyse Before Responding
The ability to stop and reflect is a virtue. Before jumping into a response with feelings of rage or hurt pride, stop and reflect on the criticism. Maybe your critic was mean in the way they put it across, and it hurt you unnecessarily. Maybe your colleague called you a total mess or your friend said you’re too self-centred. You may think those are untrue, but take a minute to analyse. Do you need to get your act together? Or have you been self-centred on many occasions that other people have pointed out as well? If that’s the case, then reconsider your actions by detaching the hurt emotions from the criticism.
6. Recognise False or Destructive Criticism
Sometimes the criticism that you receive has no justification at all, and it is often directed at you with malicious intent. Observe the message and how it is delivered; destructive criticism is often aimed at hurting or pulling you down, especially when it comes from someone who doesn’t like you. The best way to deal with it is to ignore the criticism and remain aloof. Words aren’t made of bullets; they cannot hurt you without your permission. However, if the person is a known troublemaker, try and understand what their motivation could be for trying to hurt you. You can always talk to them in private about why they said unjustified things; it’s a good approach on how to deal with destructive criticism.
7. Appreciate Constructive Criticism
Constructive criticism is quite beneficial if you can extract what is needed out of it. It is easy to value and appreciate praise when people speak in kind words. Criticism can make you feel miserable, but progress can’t be made if you always receive flattery and insincere praise. Therefore whenever you receive criticism from a close friend, a teacher or a superior, it’s almost certainly because they want you to do better.
8. Incorporate Criticism into Your Feedback Mechanism
You would be surprised at how much difference criticism can make when you incorporate it into your feedback mechanism. When emotion is filtered out of the message, criticism can help you become a better person, especially if you are someone who is convinced that you are always doing the right thing and seldom go wrong. Constructive criticism is often the most potent form of truth served to you without being watered down. Unpacking it will help you assess how much of what you think about yourself is accurate and how much is false. Also, accepting constructive criticism at the workplace helps build your image as a strong and competent individual who is reliable.
9. Stay Confident and Smile More
If you often wonder how to deal with negative criticism, the first step is to thicken your skin. If criticism makes you hurt, defensive and disturbed, it’s time to evaluate yourself deeper. Begin with accepting that you are flawed and then find out ways to overcome it. Accepting yourself for what you are and working on improving your weaknesses makes you less sensitive to negative criticism. Smile more; the very act of smiling can make you feel relaxed and confident by helping you to look at situations in a better light. As you improve with positive feedback, you will find that you become more confident and people around you perceive it as well.
10. Be Thankful for the Feedback
Learn to be thankful and make sure to convey that to your critic. If your criticism was delivered in a kind and helpful manner or in the sense that the critic was honest, be sure to thank the person for their feedback and that you appreciate their effort to make you better. Thanking people can win you friends and allies for your openness and willingness to change. It also indicates maturity on your part.
Criticism at work is most often positive and intended for your betterment. It’s important to learn how to extract the message out of what is being said and incorporate into your feedback. Although criticism is a tough pill to swallow, taken constructively it can help you achieve new heights.

Child Insurance Plans: Know your Options & Choose the Best One
When you embrace parenthood, your little one becomes the centre of your world and you know you’d do anything to see a smile on your baby’s face, right? Child plans better known as child insurance plans are a combination of investment and insurance plans that secure a child’s financial future. Ideally, parents should invest in an insurance plan as soon as their child is born, as buying a child insurance plan early in life can help you meet your child’s financial requirements as and when the time comes.
One may think planning early for a child’s education and other expenses as trivial and untimely, but when it is about a child’s future, it’s good to prepare well ahead of time as unforeseen expenses can crop up at any point. It is better to be prepared than to juggle around your funds at the last minute, right?
Best Child Insurance Plans for Your Child

Avoid shirt cuts when it comes to health if mother n baby. ok. better to show to specialist always as they get the correct diagnosis. try to avoid self and extra medication that will only complicate this and create more damage to the child

A. Kids mostly prefer using the left hand only as a very comfortable and that’s a very natural thing for them to use so if you want to change this habit you just have to constantly remind or tell your child to use the right hand that is what you can do as in India we believe that only right hand should be used for everything but actually if you see the kids using the left hand is very comfortable and there is no problem in that
