32 Weeks Pregnant: What To Expect
The closer you get to your due date the more excited you are going to be. However, you are not there yet. With nearly two months to go, there are a few things you can do to keep yourself informed about the changes you will be experiencing in your 32nd week.
Your Baby's Growth During Pregnancy - Week 32
Week 32 is going to bring with it a whole host of new experiences. First, your baby is going to be tapping and wriggling rather than his usual bouncing around. This is largely due to the lack of space in your uterus as your little one is getting pretty big. Prepare yourself for the drop your foetus is going to take into your pelvis in preparation for birth. Occasionally, the baby might be upside down, known as the breech position, but in most cases, he will revert himself to normal before birth. The growth rate is so high now, that your foetus is going to put on around fifty percent of his weight between now and delivery. Nails, hair, and skin are almost the same as a newborn. Lung development is complete, and if you have a premature birth at this point he has a very high chance of surviving.
What Is The Baby’s Size
At 32 weeks pregnant, the baby’s size is now a hefty 2 kg and about 35 cm from head to foot. Crowding your uterus, he can’t really move around much but now it’s only a matter of time until he has all the space in the world. The baby is completely formed by now, looking almost exactly like a smaller newborn.
Common Body Changes
You will experience a range of body changes during pregnancy at 32 weeks. But not to worry, as these can be controlled to an extent:
Increased blood volume: Supporting two lives is not easy with the amount of circulation you had going for you. So, your body is in the process of making fifty percent more blood.
Swollen feet: Oedema in your feet and ankles will be more frequent due to excess water collecting in those regions. Buy comfortable free size shoes to fit your hurting feet.
Nipple colour change: Your nipples are going to get considerably darker as your breasts ready themselves for your newborn. This is due to the antibacterial oils they produce to keep the area sterile.
Leaking breasts: Your breasts are getting ready to feed your child. Colostrum is going to seep out of your nipples quite frequently, so take care to wear padded water-absorbent bras if you have to go out.
Excess vaginal secretions: Your vagina is preparing for delivery by preparing a thick mucous layer around the walls to keep them lubricated. As this could be a tad inconvenient, carry around a sanitary napkin just in case.
Symptoms Of Pregnancy At Week 32
Here are some symptoms you might be facing during your 32nd week of pregnancy.
Feeling faint
This could occur for several reasons, especially not having enough blood sugar. Keep a sugary snack ready at all times
Haemorrhoids
Rectal varicose veins might occur due to constipation and they are rather painful and sensitive. Try to soothe them with ice packs, but stubborn ones need medical intervention.
Constipation
With your rapidly growing foetus squeezing your organs to the side, your bowels are not faring any better. The pressure exerted on them might make your daily motions infrequent and more difficult.
Skin itchiness
The bigger your baby gets, the more it stretches your belly skin. This could lead to dryness and cracks. Moisturisers are well suited to ease the discomfort.
Heartburn
The most common symptom, it is going to get more uncomfortable as your baby grows and pushes against your digestive system. Try to eat smaller but more frequent meals. Consume digestive aids like buttermilk and curds more often.
Belly At 32 Weeks Of Pregnancy
At the 32nd week, you can expect your stomach to vary from 28 - 36 cm from top to bottom. Around this time, your baby will drop into the pelvic cavity in preparation for birth, making your pregnancy bump a lot lower in height than earlier. Sometimes, this drop happens during labour.
32 Weeks Ultrasound
A 32nd week ultrasound is quite important as it can tell you several details, such as:
Foetal growth: Your doctor will be able to tell you if the baby is growing normally.
Internal bleeding: Occasionally the placenta can rupture causing internal bleeding.
Foetal placement: Your baby needs to be with his head down towards the cervix, but sometimes can be in the reverse position.
You may also get a 3D ultrasound scan to observe the minute details of your little one’s face and body. An ultrasound is not compulsory, however, unless you are at risk of or are already facing complications like diabetes, obesity, pelvic pain and so on.
What To Eat?
The 32nd week pregnancy food includes a few important nutrients:
Iron is one of the most important dietary requirements at this time. This is because of the jump in your blood amount by approximately fifty percent. Iron is an essential part of Haemoglobin, the protein required to carry oxygen. Make sure you eat foods rich in iron like spinach, broccoli, red meat, legumes, or even ask your doctor for a multivitamin supplement if your diet isn’t cutting it.
The foetus’ nails, teeth, hair, and bones have formed but are still delicate. Strengthening them is important, and requires sufficient calcium per day. Foods like dairy, leafy vegetables, and cereal are great sources.
In addition to specific dietary additions, delete foods that contain fat and refined sugar. Quit eating larger meals in favor of more small meals. Try to eat less meat and a lot more fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains and nuts. Alcohol is absolutely out of the question.
Tips & Care
Here are a few tips that can help you sail through this stage of pregnancy.
Dos
As babies can survive outside the womb after this point, you might want to make some preparations for an early pregnancy just in case. One thing to consider is the pain relief method to choose. There are several available, but you can reject all of them if you want a natural drug-free birth.
Keep a set of nappies, blankets, and pillows ready for your little one.
Don’ts
Don’t forget to pack stuff for yourself when you get that hospital bag ready. Keep a few sanitary napkins as you will definitely need to use them after the birth.
Don’t neglect your exercises, especially swimming or yoga, as they are perfect for pain relief from back, rib or pelvic pain.
What You Need To Shop For
You can now plan how to decorate your little one’s room. Purchase maternity dresses and bras, as well as clothes to wear after you give birth. Stock up on feeding bottles, nappies, medicated powder and small soft toys. You can also purchase a small pram to move your baby around the house or take a walk outside.
Conclusion
You’re very close to meeting your little one. With all the preparations well in place, you should have a relatively easier transition into being a new mom of healthy newborn.

A Beginner's Guide to Meditation - Tips and Simple Techniques
Most of us are aware of the world around us, but self-awareness is something that may we may seldom give importance to. Well, you can be ignorant about self-awareness until you learn the true art of meditation. Because meditation is not about sitting in one corner quietly and attaining some calm and peace, but it is the tranquillity that you attain and where your mind becomes completely aware of yourself. If you wish to know how to achieve that mental state, you need to learn and practice meditation - in this post, we will discuss all this and more!
How to Prepare for Meditation?
Before you take up meditation, it is important to understand that the true goal of this practice is to understand and focus the mind in attaining a higher level of calmness and self-awareness. Many neurologists believe that meditation can help with enhanced concentration, more-controlled emotions, decreased stress levels and other such experiences. Initially, one may struggle to learn the effective ways to meditate; however, with practice and time one can master the correct ways of meditation and benefit greatly from it. If you have decided to meditate, here’s how you can prep yourself for the process:
1. Relax Your Body and Mind
As soon as you sit to meditate, try and relax your mind. You may start deep inhaling and exhaling. Keep breathing deeply until you feel lighter and more relaxed. Hold your breath for a few seconds and exhale through your mouth. As you practice this, you may begin to feel your tension getting released, and you may feel calmer. Repeat all these breathing techniques a few times or until you feel your tension going out of your body.
2. Wear Comfortable Clothes
Uncomfortable or improper clothes may affect your profound meditation experience. You need to dress up in clothes that you are comfortable in. Restrictive or tighter clothes can distract you immensely. Wear loose, comfortable clothes and also make sure you are not wearing any shoes. If you plan to meditate outdoors where there is a cool breeze, make sure you dress up appropriately because your thoughts may get consumed by the feeling of cold. Also, if you wish to mediate in a place where you cannot get into comfortable clothes (like your office), make sure you loosen your belt, remove your shoes or other such things that can help you feel comfortable.
3. Stay Still
Staying still while meditating may seem impossible in the first go, but as you keep practising, you will be able to remain still as a rock. Staying still during the meditation process is essential because any kind of physical movement can send signals to the brain and disrupt the mind. The easier way to achieve stillness is by thinking that your body is an immovable object, like a rock. Try not to move for the first few minutes, no matter how uncomfortable that may seem. As you overcome the ordeal of the first few minutes, you may feel more settled in your own mental state.
4. Keep Your Eyes Shut
You can meditate with your eyes open or closed, but for beginners, but it is better to begin with the eyes closed. This is because beginners may get distracted visually. As you begin the practice, keep your eyes closed and look upwards. Try and bring in focus as you try to look upwards with your closed eyes. The idea is to energise your body towards a spiritual awakening. As you become comfortable with meditating, you may try meditating with your eyes open. When you practice with your eyes open, you need to focus on one object by restraining yourself from going into a state of trance.
How Long Should You Meditate Each Day?
You may practice as much meditation or as little meditation as you want - it is entirely a personal choice for how long or how to practice meditation. However, if you are a beginner and you wish to get into the habit of meditation, it will be a good idea to practice from 5 to 15 minutes every day. As you become more experienced and comfortable with it, you can practice it for half an hour to an hour each day. You can even meditate twice a day if you want.
Where Should You Meditate?
You can practice meditation anywhere you like, provided that the place is calm and quiet and there are no distractions. A calm atmosphere helps you focus better, and your thoughts or mind do not get affected by any external stimuli. You can meditate comfortably in your house or any place you can steal some quiet moments. Make sure your phone in on silent, television is switched off, or no other such appliances are plugged in. However, meditation need not be completely sans noises. The sounds of cars honking or birds chirping should not affect your meditation. Not letting the external noises affect your mental state is one of the major aspects of meditation. You can also practice meditation outdoors in the garden or park where there are no loud noises or high traffic sounds.
What Is the Proper Meditation Posture?
Posture is of utmost importance when you meditate. Therefore, one must pay heed to proper posture to gain maximum benefit. Make sure you sit upright, either on a chair or on the ground. You can sit either in a half-lotus or full-lotus pose. However, if you find the position too uncomfortable, you may sit cross-legged with your back and spine straight. Make sure that you do not slouch or bend your back. Also, you need to feel relaxed in any pose that you plan to meditate in.
How to Do Meditation - Easy Meditation Techniques
Are you wondering how to do meditation at home or how to do meditation for beginners? Well, there are several techniques that one can follow to meditate. Here are some easy meditation techniques for beginners:
1. The Breathing Technique
One of the widely popular techniques for mediation is the breathing technique. All you have to do in this technique is to focus on your breathing and how it travels through your body. You can pick up any spot around your naval area or abdomen and try to channelise the focus on to that point. Once you begin the process, emphasise on your breathing and nothing else. Do not pay heed to whether the breath was shorter or longer than before; you only need to be aware of the fact that you are breathing. Also, do not make any efforts to make changes in your breathing pattern; just keep breathing the way you normally breathe. To integrate better focus, you may use a mental image to help you guide. Sometimes your mind may wander; it is very normal to let it happen. Just return to your state and start focusing again.
2. The Mantra Chanting Technique
Chanting a mantra is also one of the techniques of getting into a meditative state. You can choose any mantra you like; the trick is to keep repeating the mantra until your mind enters a meditative state. For example, chanting 'Om' is one of the mantras that you can use. You can keep reciting the mantra over and over again until you slip into a tranquil state of mind. It is normal for your mind or thoughts to stray and wander. Do not worry and let that happen, what you need to focus on is getting back into your state by channelising your focus. As you become a pro, you may not be required to chant mantras over and over again because you will enter a deeper level of consciousness and awareness.
3. The Visualization Technique
Visualization is also another famous technique for reaching a remarkably calm and serene place in your mind. You can choose any place; whether it is real or fictional, it does not matter. What matters is that you think about this place and explore it through your mind. You can choose a warm desert, a calm beach, a beautiful garden or any place. This place becomes your private place - as you enter the world of your thoughts, try and explore it. Do not push yourself too much; just let the thoughts flow on their own. Just feel whatever you see there, like the scent of the flowers, the sound of the water, and other such things. Be in that place as long as you want and when you wish to come back, just trace your thoughts backwards and open your eyes gently. You can use the same place or a different place for meditating again.
Meditation can change your life and bring in many changes in your outlook towards life. Experience this blissful state of mind, and we hope this article helps you in achieving that.

Aishwarya Rai Tells Us The #1 Reason She Loves Aaradhya So Much!
With the Durga Puja festivities all around us, and the air fragrant with prayer and happiness, the Bachchan family also ventured out pandal-hopping. Recently, the entire family, led by Amitabh Bachchan, attended the Durga Puja celebrations at the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital in Mumbai. On this joyous occasion, when the world celebrates the homecoming of Ma Durga, parents also celebrate the love they share with their children. This is why we so loved what Aishwarya said about her daughter. She gave us the top reason she loves her darling girl so much…
At the Durga Puja festival, all the adults sat in thought, seeking blessings from the Goddess. But the little princess Aaradhya was also rapt in attention and held a lotus as offering. It was the auspicious occasion of Durga Ashtami and she was with the people she loved the most. What else could the little one want? It is on occasions such as these that we truly realize and count our blessings. The gift of family is one nothing else can compare with, especially the gift of a little girl of your own.
This is why, when mommy Aishwarya was asked about her daughter, she couldn’t help but tell us why she loves her so much. Here’s the top reason she holds the little one closest to her heart:
“Being girlish is easy. Having a lovely little girl like Aaradhya in my life - that angel keeps the child in me alive. I will forever be grateful to God for this blessing called Aaradhya in my life.
I don't quite attribute looks to that because that is not the way I view myself for life. I mean I get it that's how it largely started and that is where the world tends to talk about me. But it is about who we are and who we become, thanks to our experiences.”

Aish couldn’t have put it better. Children are indeed our best connection to our childhood – that time in life when everything was beautiful and we hadn’t a care in the world. They let us relive those times and see things and people for who they are. While the experiences of the world may cloud our thinking or predispose us to feeling down and out, our kids stop us from sorrow. With them, we can be as childlike as ever! This is one mommy who knows and appreciates her gift and does everything she can to spend time with her. In our busy lives, we often have to give up on a lot. A picnic with the kids is sacrificed for a work meeting or replaced by an expensive gift. A good night kiss is foregone because the children are asleep by the time Dad is home. Even when we are all together, there is that potent source of distraction – our phones. Aishwarya, on her part, dislikes staring into her phone all the time. She hates how the phone has become the end of conversation.
“We are very quick with excuses. Work, routine, lifestyle, social media and the need to be on it 24/7, I had to say this… I have observed, we don’t have time to look at another person and talk to him/her because we are so busy on our phones. People are leaning on conveniently-attributed lethargy.”
This is why when Aish is with her husband and daughter, they spend time with each other – sans all technology. Instead, she is cognizant of the joy she has in her daughter and devotes time on her. Children are God’s gift to us, believes Aish, and this is the reality she is living in each day.

“By far, the most precious experience has been of Aaradhya and I will be grateful to God (for this).”
We couldn’t agree more with you, Aish! Our daughters are our greatest joy in life for the beautiful way in which they colour our world. With them, we become little children who love pretty dresses and music and flowers and festivals. Everything else ceases to matter but being best buddies in a world of technicolour.
One day, our daughters will grow up and have children of their own. The greatest gift that we, as their moms, can give them is the promise of constancy. Come what may, our love for them will never change. With them, we will always be childlike yet sturdy, giggling yet rock-solid enough to protect them from harm. Read more
