How to Apply for a PAN Card for a Child
Minor is a person who is below the age of 18 years. Many people think that their children can get a PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card only when they become adults, that is after they reach the age of 18 years. However, that is not true. Although children can't apply for a PAN card, their parents can. If you think your child does not need one before he or she starts earning, then you might be mistaken. Let’s take a look at why it is important for a child to have a PAN Card.
Why and When Does a Child Need a PAN Card?
Your child will need to have a PAN Card if you make her a nominee of any of your investment scheme. If you are planning to make an investment in your child’s name, then you will be asked to submit a copy of her PAN card. The Permanent Account Number will also come in handy if you want to open a bank account in your child’s name, though it is not absolutely necessary.
A child will need a PAN card if she is earning. A child’s income from any investment or income is not taxable unless:
The child has a physical disability, is completely blind etc.
The child earns through her own skill, knowledge, or talent.
The child has earned an income on her own.

Should You Take Omeprazole in Pregnancy?
Pregnancy is an exciting time for the mother-to-be. However, it is also a time when the mother-to-be needs to take great care to ensure that the unborn baby is safe and developing normally. One of the important things to keep in mind is the use of over-the-counter and prescription medication. Omeprazole is one such medication that is taken by pregnant women for heartburn and acidity.
This article tells you all you need to know about how safe it is to take omeprazole during pregnancy. It also discusses whether omeprazole increases the risk of miscarriages, stillbirths, premature deliveries, and birth defects in the foetus.
What is Omeprazole?
Omeprazole is both a prescription and over-the-counter medication that is taken by pregnant women for acidity, heartburn, stomach ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Our stomach produces acid to digest food. Overproduction of this acid causes acidity and heartburn. Omeprazole is part of a group of drugs called proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) that can reduce the production of stomach acid, thus reducing the symptoms of acidity, GERD, and stomach ulcers.
Stomach ulcers are sores in the lining of our stomach caused by bacteria called Heliobacter pylori. Our stomach acids aggravate the pain in these ulcers. This is why omeprazole is prescribed for the treatment of stomach ulcers. GERD is a problem where the sphincter valve of the oesophagus relaxes, and over-production of the stomach acid causes reflux of the acid into the oesophagus, resulting in heartburn. Omeprazole is commonly prescribed to alleviate the symptoms of this condition.
Omeprazole usually comes in the form of delayed-release capsules or powdered form that are to be mixed in water and taken. It works by turning off the acid-producing proton pumps in the stomach, thereby reducing the quantity of acid made by our stomach.
Is Omeprazole Safe in Pregnancy?
If you are wondering whether you can take omeprazole while pregnant, the answer is yes, but only if the benefit of the drug significantly outweighs the risk to the foetus. Studies have shown that taking omeprazole does not cause any harm to the unborn baby. However, the effects of exposure to omeprazole on a child’s long-term health have not been well researched. It is, therefore, vital to decide if the benefits of using omeprazole outweigh the possible risks to the foetus.
It is also possible to reduce symptoms of acidity without using drugs. For example, the following can help reduce symptoms of acidity without taking medication - eating smaller meals more frequently, avoiding very spicy and oily food, regularly consuming yoghurt and buttermilk, and raising your pillow so that your head is raised when you lie down.
What If Omeprazole Has Already Been Consumed While Pregnant?
If you have already taken omeprazole while pregnant, let your doctor know. The doctor can analyse whether you still require the medicine and recommend the lowest possible dose that is effective in reducing your symptoms. Research has not found any evidence that omeprazole harms the foetus. However, high dosages could still be risky, and it is best to speak to your doctor before taking any medication during pregnancy.
Will Taking Omeprazole During Pregnancy Cause the Baby to Be Born with Birth Defects?
There have been studies that involved examining the foetus of more than 4000 pregnant women that showed that the risk of birth defects in the baby did not increase due to consumption of omeprazole. Other studies have shown that taking omeprazole did not increase the risk of babies being born with cleft lip, heart defects or hypospadias (where the opening of the penis is not on the tip, but on the underside).
However, the main internal organs of the foetus are formed in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. This is the time when exposure to various medications can cause birth defects. Hence, it is better to avoid taking any medication such as omeprazole during the pregnancy's first trimester. Consult your doctor before taking omeprazole in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy to avoid unnecessary risk to your unborn baby.
Does Taking Omeprazole in Pregnancy Cause a Miscarriage?
There has been some research that showed that taking omeprazole did not cause an increased risk of miscarriage in pregnant women. Although this is encouraging, a lot more research needs to be done to conclusively prove that omeprazole does not cause miscarriage.
Omeprazole is widely used in pregnant women and is one of the acidity drugs approved for use by mothers-to-be in several countries. It is not known to cause harm to the foetus and is the common medication for acidity and heartburn recommended by doctors.
Does Taking Omeprazole While Pregnant Cause Stillbirth?
Research has shown that taking omeprazole does not increase the risk of having stillbirths. There was a small study that showed that women taking omeprazole were not at a higher risk of having stillborn babies in comparison to women who did not take omeprazole. However, stillbirth rates have not been studied enough in women taking omeprazole to provide conclusive evidence.
Does Consumption of Omeprazole While Pregnant Cause Preterm Birth or Low Birth Weight in the Baby?
As in the case of the studies on stillbirth, there have been 2 studies that researched the risk of having premature babies and babies with low birth weight in women taking omeprazole in pregnancy. One study that examined 1,500 babies exposed to omeprazole as a foetus showed that there was no effect of the drug on their birth weight. Similarly, another study found that in over 450 pregnancies that were studied, there was no evidence of an increased risk of premature delivery in women taking omeprazole. Studies have found that taking omeprazole in pregnancy third trimester did not increase the incidence of stillbirth.
Despite this encouraging evidence seen from these studies, a lot more research needs to be done, and bigger numbers of pregnant women taking omeprazole need to be studied to conclusively prove that this drug is not harmful to the unborn baby.
Is There Any Risk Involved If the Father Has Consumed Omeprazole?
There has been no evidence of risk to your baby if the father has consumed omeprazole before you became pregnant. Omeprazole has been found to be a safe drug and is commonly prescribed for GERD, acidity, and stomach ulcers.
Omeprazole has been found to be safe for pregnant women and is commonly prescribed for pregnant women experiencing heartburn, GERD or acidity. However, as with any other medication, you need to consult your doctor before taking omeprazole while you are pregnant.
Like most prescription medications, omeprazole could have some side effects. Not every person who takes the drug experiences the side effects, but it can also interact with other medicines that you may be taking and affect the way they work. Similarly, other medications can also affect the effectiveness of omeprazole. Therefore, it is important to let your doctor know if you are taking any other medication.

However, with some super-effective hacks, you can clean your microwave in no time. Make the monotonous task of cleaning a microwave fun by following these quick 8 easy hacks mentioned in this article. In order to maintain appropriate functioning of the unit, it becomes very important to clean the microwave regularly, at least once a week depending upon the usage. These hacks are just perfect and suitable for all oven types – whether built-in or counter-top.
Simple and Quick Tricks to Clean Your Microwave Oven
Before starting with the chore of cleaning a microwave we need to take into account a few important points. Microwave being an electronic appliance, you need to switch it off and unplug it from the socket before cleaning. Secondly, you may also inspect the chord for any damage as it carries a risk of fire if anything goes wrong. Wipe off the chord and socket free of any dust or dirt.
Read on to follow some ingenious cleaning tips for your microwave:
1. Baking Soda and Water Solution
Baking soda is a well-known cleaning agent, and here we’ll teach you how to clean microwave with baking soda. Mix in two parts of baking soda with one part of water and make a fine paste devoid of any lumps. Apply this mixture on the stains on the turntable or internal walls of the oven and leave it for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, wipe it with a wet towel, and you’ll be amazed at how wonderfully the baking soda works on hardened stains!
2. Vinegar
You need a microwave safe bowl for this. Fill in the bowl halfway with water and vinegar solution in the ratio of 1:1 and microwave for roughly 4 minutes. This will loosen up the tough stains inside the microwave and once done you can remove the bowl and wipe off the walls with a sponge or wet cloth. You can wash the turntable rack separately and place it back once dry.
3. Vinegar and Baking Soda
You can try ingredients separately, or a combination of both since both these products are inexpensive and easily available. To start with mix half a cup of baking soda in equal proportion with warm water and make a smooth paste. Apply this mixture on the internal walls of the microwave using a cloth. Once this is done, mix in equal parts of water and vinegar in a microwave safe bowl and microwave it for 4-5 minutes. Let the microwave cool down for 15 minutes and then open the door and remove the bowl. Now wipe clean using a wet sponge or towel. You may repeat the process if needed.
4. Dish Washing Soap
If none of the natural ingredients is available, then you can always give the dishwashing soap a try. Just fill in some warm water in a microwave-safe bowl and add in required quantity of dishwashing soap gel and microwave it on high power until the steam appears on the glass lid. Once it is done, switch it off and remove the bowl. You can now clean the microwave using a sponge or damp towel.
5. Lemon
Thinking of how to clean the microwave with a lemon? Well here is your answer! The best and cheapest solution is lemon. Moreover, the best part of lemon is that it refreshes not only your microwave but the entire kitchen while you do so! Take some water in a microwave-safe bowl and squeeze in the juice of one lemon and also put in the leftover in the same bowl. Microwave it for about 4-5 minutes. You’ll see that the solution starts boiling and steam appears on the glass door, that’s the point to switch it off and let the microwave cool down for a bit before opening the door. Once done, you may open the door and remove the bowl and clean the insides with a damp towel.
6. Window Cleaning Solution
Mix in the window cleaning agent with water in the ratio of 2:1 in a bowl. Dip the sponge or towel in this solution and wipe clean the insides and outsides of the microwave. Remove the glass tray from the base of the microwave and clean off all the dust and stains beneath the tray. Also, clean the internal walls and vents of the microwave until spotless. In case there are any tough stains on the side walls of the microwave soak it in the cleaning solution for roughly 5 minutes before you wipe it off. An important point to note while cleaning is that the power should be turned off while cleaning.
Once the inside of the microwave is clean, wipe it off with a fresh, clean damp cloth to remove any remnants of the window cleaning solution. To finish it off again wipe it completely with a dry cloth as well. Since the cleaning solution is composed of strong chemicals, you need to completely remove it from the insides of the microwave. Not just the insides but microwave need to be cleaned from outsides as well. So you can use the same solution for the same. Just dip a cloth in the solution and clean the handles, glass door and outer body of the microwave. It removes the dirt and gives a sparkling shine to the surface!
7. Store Bought Cleaners
You can also clean the microwave using store-bought cleaning solutions which are easily available in the market. If you wish to use store-bought cleaners, then go for the products with fewer chemicals and those who do not emit pungent fumes. Most of the store-bought solutions emit fumes and destroy the taste of food baked just after cleaning the microwave. Another tip while using a store-bought cleaner is to keep your microwave doors open for about an hour once the cleaning is done. This will help remove the odour and vapours if any caused due to the cleaning solution.
8. Paper Towels
Well, if on a lazy Sunday you wish to clean the microwave and do not have the above-mentioned ingredients then you can surely opt for the easiest way out, and that’s wet paper towels. Just wet some 5-6 paper towels and place them inside and microwave it on for 2-3 minutes. The steam will slacken up the hard stains inside the microwave. Remove the towel, and once they cool down, you can use it to clean the microwave.
Cleaning the microwave is an inevitable task! However, depending upon usage, you need to clean the microwave at least twice a month. The above simple hacks will guide you to clean the microwave quickly and easily saving a lot of time and energy on a busy day.

Does Vitamin D Affect Your Fertility?
Getting pregnant is a special joy experienced by moms around the world. However, sometimes due to certain deficiencies in the body, your fertility may get affected, and your dream of becoming a mother may seem a bit far-fetched. One such kind of deficiency that may occur in your body and affect your fertility is vitamin D deficiency. So, how exactly this deficiency affects your fertility, if you wish to know more on this topic, we suggest that you read the following article for the same.
What is Vitamin D?
Most of us have heard about vitamin D and how it is important for us. However, many may wonder what exactly does this vitamin do and why it is so important for many vital functions in our body. Well, vitamin D is a vitamin that is produced by our skin in response to sunlight exposure. Apart from the sunlight this important vitamin can also be obtained from various food sources and can also be taken in the form of supplements. This vitamin is also known as the sunshine vitamin. Vitamin D is also a hormone that is required by our body for some of its vital functions. This fat-soluble vitamin is essential for many functions in our body, which may include reproductive functions too.
How Does Vitamin D Help to Improve Fertility?
Apart from being linked to various health benefits, vitamin D and female fertility also have a strong relation. This vitamin helps the body in creating sex hormones. The apt amount of sex hormones in the body ensures better fertility, and it also lowers the chances of having any medical issues such as PCOS, PMS and even infertility issues. Lack of vitamin D may affect men's fertility too, as it may lead to impaired sperm motility, low sperm count and other such issues. Therefore, there are many vitamin D benefits for fertility, and you should get ample amounts of it to increase your chances of conception.
Ideal Vitamin D Level for Fertility & Successful Pregnancy
There have been certain studies that prove the success rate of various fertility treatments because of ample amounts of vitamin D in the body. However, there has not been enough scientific evidence available that is indicative of the fact that 30ng/ml or higher levels of vitamin D in the body increase the chances of having a successful pregnancy. In one of the studies, it was observed that 25-OH vitamin D > 30ng/ml of vitamin d for fertility dosage might improve your chances of getting pregnant.
How to Get More Vitamin D?
The amount of vitamin D requirements may vary from person to person; therefore, before you follow any of the below-mentioned recommendations to pep up your vitamin levels, you should get a lab test done. Here are some ways of getting more vitamin D:
1. Exposure to Sunlight
Sunlight is one the best and most effective ways of getting your daily dose of vitamin D. You may bask yourself in unprotected and unadulterated sunlight for approximately 15 to 20 minutes every day.
2. Food Sources
If you are not able to avail the sunlight benefit you may consider including some of the following food items to pep up your vitamin levels:
Eggs
Cod-liver oil
Mackerel
Salmon
Sardines
Grass-fed beef
Shiitake and button mushrooms
These are some of the sources of vitamin D rich foods that you may consume.
Vitamin D Deficiency and Fertility
Though there are still many ongoing studies to prove the relation between vitamin D deficiency on fertility and reproductive capacity, however, there is substantial evidence available which indicates positive effects of vitamin D supplementation on conception through IVF. There has also been a study indicating the positive effects of this vitamin on the male fertility.
So, if you are wondering, can low vitamin D cause infertility? Well, to get a full-proof answer to that question, we may have to wait until more substantial studies come forward. Meanwhile, what you may do is, increase your vitamin D intake if you are planning on getting pregnant and increase your chances of conception.
Should You Take Vitamin D Supplements to Boost Fertility?
Self-medication or taking any kinds of supplements on your own may not be a good idea. Vitamin D supplements must be taken if it has been prescribed by your doctor. Before prescribing you any kind of supplements, your doctor will first establish your deficiency levels by suggesting some lab tests. Your doctor may recommend supplements that may contain vitamin D3 with vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 is very important for the proper absorption of calcium and vitamin D by the bones, and it also ensures that does not go into the arteries.
You may be prescribed supplements to pep up your fertility, but it cannot replace any fertility treatment that you may have to undergo. Therefore, if you are 35+ years and you have been having unprotected sex for more than a year, you should meet a specialist to get your reproductive health assessed before you plan to take any vitamin D supplements.
Vitamin D can be easily produced by our body if you get adequate amounts of sun exposure. However, multiple factors may affect the absorption of this vitamin by your skin. Well, this may happen if you are a dark-skinned woman or you may be overweight. If you have any such issues that may fiddle with your natural vitamin D absorption, you may like to meet your doctor, especially when you are trying to pregnant.
A healthy body is vital to become pregnant and nurture a baby in your womb. Therefore, if you plan to get pregnant, you may like to get yourself thoroughly examined to see if your body has any kind of deficiencies. Once any kind of deficiencies is established, your doctor may help your guide how you may overcome that. Talk to your healthcare provider to know more about vitamin D deficiency.

# New born skin, common issues and skin care in a nutshell
Hai friends.
Today I am writting in breif about the newborn skin and its difference from and adult skin.Skin is one the largest organ in our body with a lot of very important functions. Its the primary barrier against all pathogens. But is the newborn skin as equipped as adults skin to compact all pathogens...Definitely not....Hence care of new born skin is very important and is entirely different from that of an adult /child.Discussion will be under these broad headings

1-Difference between adult and newborn skin
2-Goals of skin care
3-skin care and issues:bath,diaper use,umbilicus care
1-DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NEWBORN AND ADULT SKIN
#new born skin is thinner than adults
#functionaly immature- more immature if gestation age is low as most maturation and fat deposition occurs in the last trimester of gestation
#increased permeability
#increased absorption
#increased evaporation-increases risk of dehydration with water loss(insensible water loss)
#very fragile due to very thin dermis
#decreased elasticity
2- GOALS IN SKIN CARE
#Minimal handelling-newborn should not be handled by many (common problem with too many visitors )..It increases risk for infection
#decrease water loss through skin:prevents dehydration.
#avoid exposure to toxins
#decrease exposure to unnecessary substances-most commonly seen is application of large amounts of kajal (contains lead),powder ect
#promote normal skin development
3-SKIN CARE
#Apply emollients (vaseline, petroleum jelly)- decreases water loss and gives temperature stability
#UMBILICAL CORD CARE
*Clean cord during bathing
*maintain it dry
*avoid applying herbal medications/turmeric powder
*fold diaper down so that it doesn't come in contact with the cord
*watch for pus discharge /redness around umbilicus(signs of infection )
# FIRST BATH
* If vitals stable ,weight normal(>2.5kg),temperature normal...then within 2-4 hrs after birth
*soap (mild/low alkaline)
*duration 2.5kg(however varies with the cleanliness and facilities of newborn care in institutions)
*term /small for date/preterm(2.5kg
*sanitize and dry hands before handling the newborns
# CARE OF DIAPER AREA
*diaper area is prone for infection because urine and faeces are alkalinising agents which alter the normal skin pH.Change in pH causes damage to the skin.
*avoid diaper usage as much as possible when indoor
*skin should be dried and aired between napkin changes
*observe for redness/rash in diaper areas.
I hope this articles gives a brief about the neonatal skin and common issues ..Kindly provide your valuable opinion and reviews.

Moodswings of babies in 19 months and how to handle them.
Most babies at 19 months of age feel independent and want to do everything by themselves.so let the Toddler do their work by themselves to an extent it's safe for them.if we refuse for something they actually want to do or actually want to play the mood swings start and they become crankier some times.so handle their mood swings with patience.stick to the situation it is correct or wrong don't confuse them by your decisions.example-by giving them the toy which is harmful for once and let them play and at another time refusing him by saying noThey learn quickly say no if it is no for it strictly but in a polite manner.so handle them by their mood not by your decision on certain time and situation.gradually by passing months they know about everything and inhale the habit which is correct or wrong.please give them some time tt adjust by themselves and everything will be normal as time goes on... every child is different from other so don't compare them with others and ask them to do the same.Toddler can get and become angry when they encounter a challenge are unable to communicate want he want to say or do of a basic need. Such as going to poti or hungry want some milk or water or else Some toy etc. Some uncommon triggers for angry they outbursts and show tantrums.tanturnms can be controlled by many things ask them help in your daliy needs and make them busy with the work or any play Toddler mood Change from time to time as the age increase the need for every thing increase .Parenting Is a huge task at the same time it's important to teach the toodler how to behave in public and in private don't confuse them by your actions at different times.Think it's a milestone of this month it goes of by time when you teach them how to handle it effectively and make them go through it calm understand what to be done and what not to be done.
