Simple Tricks to Remove Marks from Walls (Pencil, Pen and Crayons)
It is a moment of pride when you see your child turn into an artistic genius - however, not so much when his works of art are splashed along your walls! Children are curious. You give them a few pencils, pens, and crayons, and they are bound to scribble on pretty much any surface they see, and unfortunately, walls seem to be their most popular victim. Read on to find out easy ways to remove pencil, pen, and crayon marks from the walls in your house.
How to Get Pencil, Pen and Crayon Marks Off the Walls
You cannot always possibly keep an eye on your child and ask him to stop scribbling all over the walls. You can make your child understand that a paper or book is a better choice, but meanwhile, you will have to deal with the existing marks all over your house. So if you are wondering how to remove pencil and crayon marks from walls, then here’s how:
Ways to Remove Pencil Marks
Pencil marks are easier to remove, as opposed to pen or crayon marks. Here are a few ways to remove pencil marks from walls:
Using an eraser to strike off pencil marks is a no-brainer. You can use a good eraser to erase the marks on the wall gently. Make sure you do this slowly and gently; if you don’t, it might make it worse.
Art gum erasers are strong enough to absorb graphite. You can try removing pencil marks on your walls with this as well. They are available at stationery or art stores, and online too.
We all know that baking soda can do wonders when it comes to cleaning. This holds good for pencil marks across walls as well. Mix some baking soda in a bowl of water, and dip a clean cloth into this solution. Use the cloth to gently rub away the pencil marks.
Your daily white toothpaste can do more than just cleaning teeth and killing germs; it can help remove pencil marks on walls as well. Squeeze a tiny amount of toothpaste onto a soft, clean cloth, and gently rub the marks off your walls.
You can try using a dry cleaning solvent as well. These are available at local stores. Dry cleaning solvents are used to remove stains and dirt from surfaces.
Melamine foam erasers or melamine foam sponges are another great way of removing pencil marks from walls. All that you should do is wet the sides a little and rub it gently along the marks. It is an effective abrasive cleaner and is used for cleaning stains on various surfaces like the walls, counters, and floors.
Mild detergent can be used to remove marks from walls as well. Dilute a very small amount of detergent in water, and use a clean cloth to wipe away the marks gently. Make sure you use a very mild detergent to avoid the removal of paint from the walls.
Ways to Remove Pen Marks
Here are a few effective ways to remove pen marks from your walls:
Nail polish removers can remove tough stains like nail paints, so it can come in handy while trying to remove pen marks along walls as well. Dip a cotton earbud in some nail polish remover, and gently try to remove the marks. Use it carefully, as rubbing too hard might cause the paint to come off, too.
Toothpaste, as we mentioned above, can help remove pencil marks, and it can help remove pen marks as well. Gently dab a small amount of toothpaste onto a soft cloth, and wipe it across the stains.
If these tips and tricks do not work, you can get yourself some commercial products from the stores like ink and stain removers that can help remove pen marks from walls.
Ways to Remove Crayon Marks
Crayon marks happen to be one of the most stubborn stains there are, as compared to pencil and pen marks. But removing these marks is possible as well, and here is how:
Crayons are usually wax-based products, which means they can melt. Use your hair dryer to melt the marks off your walls. Once the stains start to melt, gently wipe them away with a cloth and some mild detergent.
While mayonnaise makes for a great dip and spread, it can also work wonders in removing crayon marks from walls. Apply a large amount of mayonnaise over the marks, and let it be for a few minutes. After this, use a clean cloth to wipe away the crayon and mayonnaise. Once you have done this, use another clean, soft cloth and some water to wipe the wall.
Use a ruler or a flat object to scrape off the crayon marks. Do this gently. Once you have removed the most of it, wipe the area with some mild detergent and water.
Most of these methods work effectively. You might be tempted to go ahead and paint your walls, but do this only when you are sure that your kid has learnt to stop scribbling on walls. Before trying the methods suggested above for removing marks from your walls, do keep in mind the type of paint you have used. This is because some of these methods may not be good for specific types of paint and you will end up ruining the wall.

Interesting Neptune Planet Facts for Kids
With the nine planets of your solar system, Neptune is the eighth one of the lot and doesn’t get enough attention. However, it ranks third when it comes to size and we’ve spotted it via a spacecraft only once. There’s a lot of Neptune information for kids that can reveal more about the beautiful blue planet.
Facts About Neptune for Kids
Neptune is a pretty interesting planet and there are a lot of facts about it that are mesmerising and can leave you excited to know the planet better. Here are a few fun facts about Neptune for kids.
1. Neptune Was Discovered Later Than Most Planets
While most of the planets closer to Earth were discovered in the early years, that was truly possible because the other planets are closer to us as well as pretty large in size. In 1846, Jean Verrier was able to identify its presence correctly.
2. Neptune Was Originally Called La Verrier
Since Jean Verrier discovered the planet, the initial name that it was given was after him. However, it was decided that it should be named after a Roman God just like the other planets. The name that was chosen was Neptune since it's referred to its blue colour, that is in line with the Roman God of oceans.
3. Uranus Is the Reason Why Neptune Could Be Discovered
Neptune is a planet that’s quite far away, so its presence couldn’t be determined easily. However, Uranus was visible and there was a peculiar orbital behaviour in it that was noticeable. That led to the belief that another body might be pulling it by its gravity, which helped in discovering Neptune.
4. A Year on Neptune Would Equal Nearly 60,000 Days on Earth
Yes, Neptune is the slowest planet to complete its revolution around the sun. By the time the Earth completes 165 revolutions, Neptune ends up completing one. After being discovered in 1846, Neptune completed its first revolution in 2011.
5. Neptune Does Not Have a Surface
Did you know that you won’t be able to stand on Neptune at all? That’s because there’s no solid surface. Neptune is fully made of gas, making it one of the gas giants of your solar system. It just has an inner layer of ice made up of water and a few other gases.
6. Earth Is as Small as Neptune’s Core
Neptune is truly a giant. The solid core at the centre of Neptune is roughly equal to the size of Earth. And just like Jupiter, Neptune has its own storm circling around it as well. That storm is a big black spot on the surface, which itself is slightly larger than Earth.
7. A Day on Neptune Is Just 18 Hours Long
Remember how we mentioned above that a year on Neptune is equal to 165 years on Earth? Surprisingly, a day on Neptune is quite shorter than ours. This is because Neptune rotates at a speed higher than that of Earth, making its day 6 hours shorter than ours.
8. Neptune Has 14 Moons
Imagine a sky with 14 moons glowing back at you - that’s how it would feel like to be on Neptune! Each of its moons is named after a Greek God of water, since the name Neptune refers to the Roman God of oceans. One of its moons rotates in the opposite direction as that of Neptune itself.
9. It Is Extremely Cold on Neptune
Whether it is due to the atmospheric composition of gases or just the sheer distance from the sun, Neptune is extremely cold. It is already about 47,000 kilometres far from the sun, causing its temperature to be close to -200 degrees.
10. Neptune Also Has Its Own Rings
Well, you may not be able to spot the rings easily as you can with Saturn. However, Neptune does have its very own set of faint rings that have a reddish shade. These are primarily made up of icy particles and dust floating around it.
To put together information about Neptune for kids is a decision to be made between data and keeping things exciting. Helping invoke the wonder of space and planets can help your child develop an interest in the sciences and discover more facts by herself.

Differentiating between Domination and Bullying
There is a very thin line between bullying and dominating behavior and parents often fail to recognize the difference. It is important to read and recognize the signs, so that you are better equipped to help your child.
All children, especially pre-teens, express some degree of dominating behavior. It may be to protect their belongings or to express their resentment against something they do not like.
However, domination turns into bullying when a child’s aggression targets another purely with the intention of upsetting or hurting him. Parents should be observant towards such changing behavior and step in to prevent bullying at as early a stage as possible.
How to Differentiate Between Domination and Bullying
Look for the Intent
The key to differentiate between the two behaviours is that of intention. As a parent, looking for ‘Why’ your child behaved a certain way might give you a clue to whether he is simply dominating or is in the danger of turning into a bully. If the action stems from a desire to hurt or trouble someone, it is bullying behaviour.
Dominating Behavior is Often Reactive
Dominating behavior usually arises from the child’s desire to protect his belongings, from a feeling of being left out from a game. Similarly, this volatile behavior effects young children too. It may just happen from a simple desire to test his boundaries of control. It is often reactive. As a parent, helping a child identify the reason of such behavior can help him overcome it. However, if your child is using domination simply to get his way either with you with other children, it might be the beginning of bullying behavior.
Bullying is Deliberate and Repeated
For a bully, the intention to hurt is very deliberate. A bully often targets the same person again and again by making fun of him, saying mean things or even hitting, kicking or punching him.
Bullying is Against Specific People; Domination is Not
Being dominating is often a part of a child’s personality. He is the same towards all others. A bully however finds a vulnerable target. It may be someone who is physically weak, has fewer friends or is ‘different’ in any way and is not able to respond in equal measure.
Dominant Behavior Might Arise from a Legitimate Position; Bullying Does Not
Some tasks or positions like being a team leader or a class monitor often demand domineering behaviour. This is legitimate. Bullying, on the other hand, goes beyond the demands of the position.
Both bullying and dominating behavior need to be at check. However, bullying has far worse repercussions. Once a child realizes, he can get away with unreasonable behavior, it is difficult to stop him. Other children might take a cue from him and ape his behaviour too. The earlier a parent or caregiver identifies a bully, the easier it is for him to tackle him. Read more

Babies can become increasingly dependent on their rocker swings to go to sleep and relax.
They are easy to handle and highly portable.
Their weight specification usually restricts their use. Babies between 2.5 to 11kg can safely rock or swing in them.
Built-in music tracks and toy accessories can help babies spend a lot of creative time in their rocker swings.
The swing setting consumes a lot of power and may use up an average set of batteries in about a week's time.
Economical buy: A 2-in-1 product - a cradle and a swing.
The constant rocking or swinging motion may calm colicky babies, but they might take longer to develop motor functions if they spend excessive time in their rocker swings.
