CBSE or State Board - Which is Better Option for Your Child?
While most of the dilemmas pertaining to parenthood might have ceased to matter, there still remain a few which can have a huge effect on the future of the child. Education is of utmost importance for any individual, as it can define how high your child progresses in life. The importance of education can never be understated.
One of the common problems faced by Indian parents is choosing the board of education their child is going to be a part of. Considering the multitude of options and schools available around the country, it can be a really hard decision. Some of the frontrunners include the Central Board of Secondary Education, Indian School Certificate Examination and the State board where the parents are based out of. While each one has its advantages, this article will try to compare CBSE and the State board in a general manner.
Let us try to settle it- CBSE or State Board, which syllabus is the best?
CBSE vs State Board
It can be hard to compare these two syllabi, as they both have their own advantages and disadvantages. State boards cannot be generalised as they differ from state to state, but here we shall try to do so for the sake of this article.
In terms of involvement and ease of learning, CBSE trumps most state syllabi. While the state syllabi may be content heavy, the textbooks are usually difficult to read and contain heavy doses of details and facts. CBSE texts are constructed so that the students can understand the topics easily, and have a range of questions and activities between chapters to help students get a gist of what is being talked about. This makes way for more conceptual, sustainable education.
Many state syllabi blatantly expect their students to know everything in the texts- every single little detail. They promote the system of mugging up, and their exams measure how much the student has managed to memorise. In contrast, CBSE promotes conceptual learning among the students of the board. The questions asked during the exam are not answerable if the student has just learnt the text by heart- he needs to understand the concepts well in order to tackle most questions.
For higher education options, there is no board that helps the student as much as CBSE. The entrance examinations for both medicine and engineering are based out of the CBSE syllabus, and the questions are derived from the topics covered in NCERT textbooks. If you want your child to pursue his higher education in elite institutions like AIIMS or IIT/NITs, CBSE is definitely the board you should choose for your child. Right from the primary education levels, CBSE molds your child to tackle the entrance examinations which decide whether your child gets to be a doctor or an engineer.
If you want your child to get the highest marks in his board exams, the state board is a better choice compared to CBSE. Most CBSE exams are considerably harder than their state board counterparts, so the children may find the latter easier to study for. The evaluation also tends to be controlled strictly in the case of CBSE- high marks are harder to obtain, although they have great value. Contrarily, evaluation for state board exams are controlled by the state governments themselves, so it is a lot more common to find the children obtaining higher marks compared to their counterparts studying in the CBSE.
Syllabi in the CBSE are updated more often and tend to be more up-to-date and uniform compared to their state board counterparts. Also, the importance given to the state board may vary according to the state you are based out of- in Tamil Nadu, you can get admissions based simply on the performance of your child in the board exams, but in most other states, entrance exams are a must. Therefore, take into consideration the aims your child has or the aims you have for your child, before settling on a board for him.
Choosing the right board can definitely be extremely important for your child, in the long run. However, it does not mean that that is the only thing that matters in the development of your child- there are plenty of people who have been successful even after studying in the state board. It all depends on the attitude and capabilities of your child, more than the board itself. However, the better choice would be to go for CBSE over state board for the long-term development of the child.

Fun With the Fish: What you Must Do With Kids at the Aquarium
Excited about taking your kids for a trip to an aquarium? You must have told them about the fun and excitement coming their way. But do spare a thought for a list of important dos and don’ts. Here are some general instructions and safety tips for kids at an aquarium.
Kids love outings and if the place they’re visiting includes an aquarium then they’ll be all the more delighted. The experience is one of a kind and even you’ll be amazed. However, there are certain things that you need to consider when taking children such as how to stay safe and make the most of the visit.
How to Plan a Visit to an Aquarium with Toddlers
1. Prepare Them
The atmosphere inside an aquarium is completely different from that outside. It’s darker and cooler and if you don’t share this piece of information with your little ones beforehand, they may get nervous when they enter. Make sure you tell them how an aquarium looks like and also a bit about the kind of creatures they’re likely to see.
2. No banging!
Kids get really It’s not surprising to see them knocking and banging on the glass of fish tanks to try to get their attention. Too often parents let their kids run wild with no regard for rules. Give clear instructions to your children on how to behave in an aquarium. Tell them that they can go close to the tanks and look at the sea life, but banging, kicking and shouting are a big no.
3. Give Them Touch Tank Instructions
Instruct your kids to use only two fingers to touch the sea life and under no circumstance should they grab fish or take them out of water. You can ask them how they’d feel if someone were to grab them unexpectedly to help them understand the concept better.
4. Schedule The Visit Smartly
There are a few activities that they can enjoy on a trip to the aquarium but only if you plan the visit well. A two-hour walk through the place will only wear your children out. Take a break, visit the cafeteria and let them relax for a while to get ready for even more exciting activities such as live demos and touch tanks. This way, they get to catch almost everything without being dead tired.
5. Be Prepared to Leave Anytime
Even as you prepare the kids for a visit, you never know how they’ll behave once inside. Aquariums these days have fish tanks by the side, overhead and even beneath the floor. Young children may freak out a little seeing so much all around. If you find your little one getting uncomfortable, take him to the cafeteria or a walk outside to calm him down. Leave if you feel that your little one is uncomfortable.
The instructions and safety tips for kids at aquariums shared here should give you a fair idea about what to expect on your visit and on how to keep your children safe and comfortable. You want them to enjoy the trip to the fullest so take the time to follow through. They’ll probably want to return again and again! Read more

When and How to Potty and Pee Train Your Child
Potty training is something every mother worries about. I am a mother of two kids and they were potty trained by the time they were 1 year old. You must be wondering how?
So let's begin.
Potty Training
1. When is the right time?
Whenever you as a mother feel you and your child are ready you can start with it. According to my experience, one can start with it when the child has good head support and when their spine is strong enough.
2. How I did it? A step-by-step process.
Every time I realised my child was going to poop in his diaper, I would hold him against my stomach in a squatting position. Gradually he got used to pooping in that position, and later he would ask me to hold him in that position as he would get very uncomfortable while pooping in his diaper.
Now when he started sitting, I would take him to the potty, and whenever he was about to poop I would make him sit on the pot.
It will be a tedious task in the beginning, but gradually when the child will be 8-10 months he will completely stop pooping in his diaper.
3. Take your time.
So I decided to potty train my kids really early, there are mothers who decide to do it later in life and definitely, it's completely a mother's choice but the only thing I want to add here is whenever you decide to go down that road, make sure you follow it through. Don't get interrupted, don't break the routine in the middle because that confuses the child.
Pee Training
Pee training is a bit tricky, but again I started with my kids really early. I timed his pee schedule and took him to the loo in a squatting position and make a hissing sound.
Every child has his pee schedule. My younger son had a schedule of 10 minutes after his feed. Then he used to take his nap. He didn't pee during his nap. And as soon as he woke up, he would pee five minutes later, then ten minutes later again.
So by keeping an eye on the watch, I would take him to the washroom where he would pee.
After a few months when he was around 7-8 months old, he started giving signals that he was about to pee by touching himself first. Second, when he was busy in some play he would suddenly stop and look at me for 5-10 seconds and I would know that he was about to pee and every time he would give those signals, I would take him to the washroom.
And thankfully, now at 12 months of age whenever he wants to pee he says 'mumma susu'.
I hope my experience helped you and I would really love to hear your feedback.
Thanks!

A. A lot of times normal delivery is actually seen in these cases also if the doctor is quick and the child cooperate then yes normal delivery is very much possible but some doctors don’t take a chance with the health of your child and so they normally suggest C-section so let’s see what’s your situation by the end when you are into your labour
