Teething and Vomiting in Babies - Is It Normal?
It is still a controversial factor whether vomiting is caused because of the emergence of teeth in a baby. Most doctors advocate that vomiting, diarrhoea and rash are not caused due to teething. When such severe symptoms occur, the family doctor must be consulted. No other drug, homoeopathic medicine or herb is recommended when the doctors need to evaluate why the baby is suffering from vomiting.
What is Teething and When Does it Begin?
Between 6 to 24 months of a baby’s birth, teething generally occurs. When the baby’s teeth emerge or break through the gums, they show various symptoms to express their discomfort by being irritable or putting objects in their mouth. If the baby happens to be an early developer, the first tooth may sprout as early as 3 months. The day the first tooth appears it is a milestone to be celebrated, and the date can be noted in the baby diary. By the time your baby is 3 years, a full baby set of 20 teeth can be seen. The first few teeth to cut through the gums are called ‘pegs’ which are followed by the top centre teeth. Most parents remember the teething period of their baby as they experience a lot of discomforts.
Does Teething Cause Vomiting in Infants?
Teething, an exciting milestone in a child’s life, is often not a very pleasant experience for some. Every baby experiences different symptoms during the process of teething. Experts do believe that teething can cause localised pain or soreness, but it is less likely to cause rashes or vomiting. The paediatrician should try to find out if any other reason is responsible for the vomiting. The passive immunity that a child acquires from the mother gets affected because of exposure to a range of food to bite and chew after acquiring the first set of teeth. You might wonder at the question, can teething cause vomiting at night? It is very rare that babies vomit during their sleep unless they have a bacterial infection or indigestion. It is tough to predict the onset of teething in babies accurately.
How to Manage Teething Symptoms
Teething toddlers do not ever show any normal teething symptoms. Some babies drool, some become irritable whereas some have trouble in sleeping during their teething period.
An indicator when your baby is teething is slight visibility of a white mass below the gum and mothers can anticipate the emergence of teeth.
When babies start teething, you need to keep your drooling baby dry by making the baby put on a bib. The baby is sure to feel uncomfortable in wet or damp clothes.
When babies start behaving cranky, it is understood by mothers that they are uncomfortable and so, sullenness is another indicator of a baby’s teething duration.
If your baby happens to have inflamed and red gums, some relief can be provided to the baby by gently massaging the affected area with your forefingers.
Another symptom which confirms a baby’s teething phase is crying very frequently when the discomfort of teething becomes unbearable. The new moms should try to find out the other symptoms and try to pacify the baby.
Babies show different symptoms during teething. When they start chewing anything that comes their way, it is a sure sign of teething, and they should be provided with clean, hard toys or eatables that can soothe their gums.
Babies can be given relief for their unbearable pain by painkillers, but parents must avoid doing so and try giving cold compress, a teething ring or chilled spoon to reduce the discomfort.
It is quite a known fact that teething apart from being a joyous milestone can cause sleepless nights. It is quite a challenging task for new parents to understand the cause of discomfort of their babies. As the babies keep growing older, they become susceptible to many diseases which can cause vomiting. Sometimes intolerance to a specific food can also cause vomiting. Parents and caregivers should deal through the process of teething very gently and patiently.

10 Effective Ways for Disciplining a Toddler
Disciplining a toddler can be tricky. It can be particularly demanding as kids at this age start believing that they are independent and try to find their identity. However, they still have limited ability to reason and communicate. Not all kids have social skills, therefore parents are required to teach toddlers about appropriate behaviour. Disciplining a child at the right age can shape your little one's character.
But disciplining a toddler doesn’t mean restricting him to a set of rules and resorting to punishments. Parents need to realise that children are adventurous by nature and hence you should not stop them from experimenting and exploring. Discipline should be a way of instructing and training a toddler to implement good behaviour. To discipline a child, parents should try positive reinforcement when the toddler resorts to inappropriate behaviour.
For most parents, disciplining their kids is not an easy job. Of course, raising and disciplining a child is never easy, but with some efforts, you surely can succeed.
How to Discipline a Toddler - Useful Tips for Parents
Most parents keep wondering about the ways to discipline their toddlers. There is no 'one' full proof method of disciplining a toddler as all children are different. It is desirable to try diverse disciplines tools and watch your toddler’s reaction to determine which particular method may suit your kid the best. Your toddler tantrums can get annoying if you do not handle them in time. So, here are some useful strategies to discipline your naughty little one:
1. Be consistent
As a parent, you need to be unfailing in your approach while trying to discipline your child. If your responses to a circumstance keep altering you may end up confusing your toddler with mixed signals. Toddlers may need constant reminders and checks to break their patterns of bad behaviour and adopt improved ways of behaving. Setting a routine for your toddler will provide him with the necessary security to behave in a calm and proper manner. This means following a consistent schedule for mealtimes, playtime, naps, and bedtimes. Do prepare him in advance for any changes in his routine to prevent any likely scenes or tantrums later on.
2. Identify the Triggers
Recognising the common causes or behavioural patterns of your toddler may go a long way in effectively dealing with him. If a toddler is hungry or sleepy, he will be agitated. With careful planning in advance, try to avoid all such potential triggers. For example, do not plan a trip to the market if your toddler is sleepy. One good way to discipline a child is to not provoke him when he is not in a good mood.
3. Develop a Sense of Self
Try involving your toddler in activities that you can do together like putting away his toys, cooking his meal, taking a bath, or getting dressed. This may build up a sense of importance in him as he is bound to enjoy your attention. Instead of giving your toddler directions give him responsibilities. For example, ask him to decide whether he wants to wear a black or a red shirt for the birthday party. Giving choices to your toddler may convey the message to him that you respect his feelings and he has a say in a particular situation.
4. Consider Your Toddler’s Perspective
Kids may have difficulty in expressing their displeasure in an appropriate manner. They may resort to tantrums to display their disagreement in a particular situation. For example, if you take away his ball saying his playtime is over but he wants to play more and you still refuse, then he may show his annoyance by crying loudly. Looking at things from your toddler's point of view may help you prevent a budding meltdown. In such a situation, understand his point of view and find ways in which you can keep his point and yours as well.
5. Try Distraction
Toddlers usually have short attention spans. You can use your toddler’s short attention span to distract him with some interesting activity when he throws tantrums. Redirecting your toddler to some productive activity may help him forget his tantrum.
6. Positive Reinforcement
Make it a point to appreciate the good behaviour of your toddler which may encourage him to repeat it. For example, praise his good conduct at the table or the way he tidied up his room. When you appreciate him, he will be happy and understand that he did a good deed. This will strive him to do even better and he will improve.
7. Use Proper Language
When disapproving of your toddler's unacceptable behaviour, do keep in mind your language and tone. Losing control and shouting at your toddler may not be a good idea. This will only aggravate his bad behaviour. Of course, you might be angry but take some time to calm yourself before talking to your child. The best approach can be to use a firm tone to condemn the action but not the child. If you want to discipline your child, you must keep your tone in check.
8. Express Affection
A parent's touch meets a child needs for physical affection and stimulation and makes him feel secure. A nurturing touch may help fulfil your toddler’s need for physical affection and security. Parents who opt for a nurturing approach while interacting with their toddler encourage healthy attachment and good behaviour. Freely express your love by cuddling, hugging, kissing or simply holding your toddler in your arms. A nurturing touch may also promote the overall healthy physical growth and intellectual development of your toddler.
9. Ignore
Sometimes simply ignoring your toddler’s improper behaviour may help diffuse a stressful situation. Try to be patient and allow his bad mood to pass. He may eventually feel tired of yelling upon realising that he is not getting the attention he sought. Later, he will realise his mistake and apologize to you. Sometimes, staying quiet also disciplines a child.
10. Modelling of Behaviour
Toddlers commonly copy their adults. They learn their responses to situations after seeing their parents' reactions. For example, the way you treat other people, how you manage stress, how you cope with your negative feelings, your toddler is silently observing you and will behave the same. Be mindful of your behaviour and try and set up the right examples for your kid to copy. Becoming a constructive role model for your toddler can be the best way to discipline your child and inculcate good behaviour in him.
It is normal to feel stressed while trying to discipline your toddler. The initial years of a child are of extreme importance, this is the time when a child's personality and a behavioural pattern develops. So, isntil good behaviour in your little one through affirmative reinforcement and observational learning.

12 Most Important Nutrients Needed for Strong Immune System in Kids
Your little one is growing up pretty fast and you're wondering where the time has gone. Somewhere in the middle of his first feed and his thousandth sleepless night, you've found yourself reading and re-reading hundreds of nutrition charts for your child. As parents, it is important for us to figure out the best diet for our little ones, in sync with their developmental needs. While breastfeed is enough and essential to build a baby's immunity for the first 6 months, the struggle begins when it’s time to introduce solids. What should we feed our babies to ensure their immune system becomes strong and they stay healthy?
A good way to build your child's immune system is to understand their nutrient needs and supplement their daily diet with the nutrients needed for developing a strong immune system. Doctors recommend that parents start following an immunity-friendly diet early in life, as this is the time when our children are most susceptible to catching infections. Also, if children develop the habit of eating a balanced, wholesome meal right from babyhood, this habit will continue when they become adults.
Here are the top 12 nutrients - and the associated foods - that your little one must eat to build his immunity.
Vitamins
1. Vitamin A
Vitamin A acts as an antioxidant that effectively helps strengthen the immune system of your baby by protecting him against infections, measles and carcinogens.
What to Feed: Foods rich in Vitamin A include colourful foods like carrots, sweet potatoes, peas and tomatoes.
2. Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an important antiviral and anticancer nutrient that is used by white blood cells to combat infections and inflammations. It is most commonly found in citrus fruits. However, you'll be surprised to know that Vitamin C is found in all kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables too!
What to Feed: Citrus fruits like oranges and lime, spinach, bell peppers, papaya and strawberries.
3. Vitamin E
Similar to Vitamin C, Vitamin E also helps fight off infections and is an extremely crucial immunity booster. It is also great to maintain healthy skin.
What to Feed: You'll find Vitamin E in nuts like almonds, peanuts and hazelnuts.
4. Folate/Folic Acid
Folate is the natural form of this nutrient, while Folic Acid is the synthetic form of a type of Vitamin B that helps in maturity and multiplication of white blood cells. This is key to developing a strong immune system.
What to Feed: Green vegetables like broccoli and spinach and dried legumes like beans and lentils are a good source of folate. These are excellent foods for developing a strong immune system in kids.
Minerals
1. Manganese
Manganese helps your child's immune system protect them from heart disease and certain types of cancer too! It is also helpful in balancing blood sugar levels.
What to Feed: The best sources of Manganese are nuts, cereals and leafy vegetables.
2. Selenium
Selenium is a powerful antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic mineral that helps in protecting your body from a range of diseases and infections.
What to Feed: This mineral is found in tuna, barley, Brazil nuts and sardines - all these are excellent immunity boosting foods for kids.
3. Zinc
Zinc helps in controlling any inflammations in your body and it helps restore weakened immunity as well.
What to Feed: Zinc is found in oysters, lean meats, baked beans, yogurt and chickpeas.
4. Copper
Copper deficiency slows down the activity of infection fighting cells. Copper is essential in traces for healing and repairing injured tissues too.
What to Feed: Copper is found in foods like lentils, almonds and beef.
5. Iron
Iron helps your little one's body produce energy by carrying oxygen to the cells. Iron deficiency can weaken your immune system drastically!
What to Feed: Good sources of iron that are excellent immunity boosters for kids include lean meant, legumes, leafy vegetables and fortified foods.
6. Sulphur
Sulphur fulfills a lot of functions to help you maintain a healthy immune system. It helps clean your body of toxins, and along with Vitamin C, helps develop healthy cells as well. Sulfur also helps reduce allergic reactions and parasitic infections.
What to Feed: Sulphur is found in cruciferous vegetables, dry fruits, eggs and legumes.
Other Nutrients
1. Proteins
Adequate intake of proteins is essential in maintaining your body's immunity system. Proteins are categorized majorly into antibodies, enzymes, messengers, etc. and help your body fight foreign particles and regulate the immune system.
What to Feed: Meat, eggs, nuts and seeds are excellent sources of proteins.
2. Essential Fatty Acids or Good Fats
Fats in general have become associated with obesity and an unfit body. However, in an effort to cut down on non-essential fatty acids we end up cutting down on the intake of essential fatty acids or good fats too! These are extremely important in enhancing the immune system's function, so make sure you do not deprive your child of them.
What to Feed: Flaxseed oil, hemp seed oil, and cod liver oil are good sources of essential fatty acids and are excellent to increase immunity in kids.
Now that you know the best foods to develop your child's immunity, start including them in his day-to-day meals. Your little one's body will be able to stay safe from infections, germs and diseases. Read more

How to Dress your Baby?
As your baby grows older and more active, dressing her up can become quite a challenge. But with these tips, dressing your baby needn’t be a stressful situation. In fact, it can be fun for the both of you!
Just when you think you’ve mastered the art of dressing your newborn, your baby decides to take a U-turn and throw all your practice out the window! Older babies are entirely different from their newborn selves and demand different treatment as well. At 4 months, they’re double their birth weight, their hands are quite strong, and they’ll grab anything within reach. Their necks are also sturdier, they can kick and may have begun rolling over. While you’ll be delighted at your little champ reaching his milestones, a fidgety baby on the changing table doesn’t make for an easy dressing up session! But babies are messy, and there’s no escaping changing their clothes several times during the day. To make things easier for both of you, here are some tried and trusted tips for dressing your baby.
Five Tips on Dressing a Baby
1. Get the basics right
The last thing you want to do is go about hunting for things with a fidgety baby in your arms. Set a regular spot for dressing your baby, with all his clothes and supplies within easy reach. 4-6 months old babies are usually dressed up lying down while older babies can sit up or stand. A change of clothes is usually preceded by a bath or bowel movement, so start with a clean diaper. During cold weather, keep baby covered with a blanket while dressing up.
2. Get the right clothes
Babies hate fussy clothes, and soft fabric is ideal for their sensitive skin. Try to stay away from zippers as they can snag skin and from buttons since they can be ingested. Snaps and tie-ups are best but consider the age of your child. While lying down, a t-shirt or one that opens in front is ideal. For babies, who sit, you can try clothes that open at the back. Try to get clothes without tags since they can irritate delicate skin.
3. Make it fun
If you’re dressing your baby after a bath, take the opportunity to apply some lotion and give his arms and legs a gentle massage. Sing songs to entertain your baby or hand him a rattle to distract him. Many moms put mobiles over the changing table, so that kids have something to look at while lying down.
4. Make it easy
Most babies hate their heads being held, so putting on t-shirts might be difficult. To make it easier, stretch the head opening with both your hands before slipping it over your baby’s head. Another problem area is inserting their arms into sleeve, try bunching up the sleeve and slipping it over baby’s hand, then un-bunch it by stretching it up his arm. Pants are relatively easier, but socks can be tricky. Again, try bunching the socks and then inserting his toes into the socks.
5. Make the clothes last
You’ve taken a lot of trouble to get your munchkin all dressed up, so try to make it last! Always make your baby wear a bib, so that all that drooling and spitting doesn’t soil his shirt. Ensure your baby’s bottom wear is easy to remove, so that you don’t have to take off his entire outfit just for a diaper change.
When shopping, it makes sense to buy clothes that are slightly larger, since babies grow pretty fast. For the same reason, it’s best to avoid extremely expensive clothes, since they’ll get outgrown quickly. Try to include older siblings and grandparents in the process, and dressing your baby will soon be one of the most-enjoyable parts of your day! Read more

My Witchy Eyebrows and Mom's Reaction 😁 This Story will make some people may or may not laugh. Pitch-in to know more!
Isn't my title little bit scares you?! Yes,of course for many it will be scary but for me and family it's actually funny. Do you want to know the whole story. Let's jump into my childhood memories. I was on my Annual vacation during 5th grade, am a kind of child who does always searching for some or the other things from my own house, and try to play, explore it. One fine day, I got to see my daddy's shaving razor and decided to explore it :) so this is what happened next, sometime at home, I have noticed my dad uses to remove his moustache or beard. So took the razor happily from his cupboard with so much of excitement within me, tried to remove hair in my wrist, yes it did worked I was like ok, since I'd tiny hairs in my wrist didn't get that complete satisfaction. So with one step high, decided to experiment with my EYE BROWS, there comes a WITCH; hahaha , yes I just removed half of my eyebrows that too only in one side and seen mirror. Totally shocked, in order to match with other side, wiped off other side of my eyebrow as well. Finally both were matching, but no hair left in the place of eyebrows. Really got into panic mode, my mom was a strict teacher and she was about to come home, by that time only I had realized , shit man I've done something ridiculous and need back my eyebrows before my mom returns home, praying to all the God to bring back my eyebrows, applied coconut oil. No luck guys, nothing didn't work out unfortunately. Finally mom reached home, and I've decided to apply kajal or atleast draw in the place of my eyebrows to make me look like a normal human. Oh, no! Since my mom is a teacher , figured out that I've explored something on myself and the results made her AWESTRUCK. She was like unable to react anything,by looking at my witchy eyebrows either laugh or beat me badly. Ah, it took one solid month to bring back my eyebrows. This was my best, funny, adventurous, serious childhood memories. Hope you guys enjoyed by reading this and ah, make sure your kids don't try this at home at any cost, laughs! Read more
