9 Easy and Creative Newspaper Craft Ideas for Kids
Origami or paper crafts can be one of the most fun things to teach your child. Rather than using spanking new paper, however, old newspapers might serve as better craft material so that you can keep your children entertained. Not only does this provide entertainment but also helps in developing fine motor skills and creativity.
9 Amazing Newspaper Crafts for Children
Here are some arts and crafts for kids with newspaper with step by step instructions:
1. Newspaper Tree
This little tree can be left as it is, or painted to look more realistic. Either way, it is a great way to show off your little one’s talent, especially around the holidays.
What You Need
Newspaper
Rubber bands
Scissors
How To Make
Roll the newspaper and tie the bands around it, one at the bottom, and the other at the middle.
Make four cuts around the roll from the top and all the way to the middle band.
Put your finger into the centre of the roll and pull out the inner pages to make layers.
You now have a newspaper tree.
2. Rolled Newspaper Roses
Learn how to make decorative newspaper roses! Stick them on whatever you like as decorations, be it on your books, picture frames, or you can even help the kids stick them artfully onto a wooden stick or plank, spray paint it and use it as a more elegant piece of décor.
What You Need
Square pieces of paper
Scissors
Pencil/pen
Glue
How To Make
Take the circular piece of paper and draw a spiral shape on it. You needn’t be too precise as this will give your rose a more random look.
Starting at the outer edge, start cutting the spiral, till you reach the centre of the paper and are left with one small round bit in the middle. You should now have one long spiral strip.
Start at the outer edge and start rolling the entire length of the spiral. Make sure that you roll it tightly.
When you have rolled it all up, paste the last circular bit at the base of your roll. Make sure to adjust the tightness of the rolls before you do this. glue the bottom of the roll together.
When you let go of the rose, the petals will open out, the glued part being the bottom of the flower. Stick it to whatever you like - an ice-cream stick, a dried twig, wooden skewers, etc. - to add some floral flavour to it.
3. Newspaper Sailors Hat
Teach your kids how to make a very easy newspaper hat.
What You Need
Newspaper sheet
Scotch tape (optional)
How To Make
Fold the newspaper in half.
Keep the side that opens facing you. Now pull the top corners of the paper towards the centre. You will now have a triangle, with a thin strip beneath it.
Fold one of the bottom flaps upwards, to tuck the triangle in.
Flip the hat onto the other side. Fold the other flap up.
If you want, use scotch tape to secure the folds. Your hat is ready.
4. Newspaper Sword
Children love to act out scenes from movies or even play pretend games. If your kids are fascinated by pirates or musketeers, why not indulge them in a couple of rapier-style newspaper swords?
[caption id="attachment_219734" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Source: en.origami-club.com[/caption]
What You Need
Newspapers
Tape
Cardboard
Markers
How To Make
Lay two newspaper sheets one on top of the other.
Fold the top right corner in to form a little triangle on the top right corner of the paper.
Begin to roll the paper tightly from the folded part. This will make the sword sturdier.
Once you have rolled it completely, tape down the loose corner.
To make the handle, take the bottom third of the sword and fold it over to make a 'D'-shape, bringing the end over to join the length of the sword. There should be a wide enough gap in the 'D'-shape so that your child can grip the sword handle easily. Tape it into place.
Take the cardboard piece and cut it into an oval shape of about 12 cm in diameter. Cut a hole in the middle of the oval that is big enough for the “blade” of the sword to go through. This will be the guard just above the D-shaped handle.
Use the markers to decorate the guard before you slide it into place.
Cut out a small rectangle from the cardboard and decorate it. Once done, wrap this into a cylindrical shape around the blade of the sword, just above the oval-shaped guard and tape this securely. The cylindrical piece of cardboard should go around the newspaper blade and rest on top of the oval-shaped guard This will make the sword guard remain in place. Your sword is ready!
5. Newspaper Picture Frame
This one is so easy that is will be the perfect handmade gift from your child.
[caption id="attachment_219733" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Source: www.instructables.com[/caption]
What You Need
Newspaper
Cereal box
Scissors
Tape
How To Make
Cut out a frame from the cereal box.
Cut out a matching frame-back to go with it and tape it together on three sides. Make sure to leave one side open so that the picture can slide in.
Your child can now use the newspaper to decorate the frame. You can shred the pieces of newspaper and simply stick them onto the frame; or if your child is really creative, you can cut out some shapes to stick onto the frame as well.
Slide a picture into the frame and your baby’s DIY gift is complete.
6. Newspaper Autumn Leaves
There is something so magical about the autumn season. All the leaves turn to shades of red, brown and gold as winter approaches. Get your little autumn fairies to help you make some of these lovely decorations.
What You Need
Newspaper
Freshly fallen leaves
Autumn coloured crayons
Scissors
Twine/Ribbon/Tape
How To Make
Lay the leaves on the floor and place a newspaper over it. The idea is to trace the shape of the leaf and its veins onto the paper.
With one of the crayons, begin to lightly colour the paper until the shape of the leaf begins to form.
Your kids can use the different autumn coloured crayons to define the veins and give the shading more life.
When satisfied with the colours and shades, cut out the leaf.
You can use the strings or ribbons to string them together, or you can use tape if you want to stick it to the children’s bedroom window. The light will filter through beautifully.
7. Newspaper Heart Streamer
Make this easy DIY heart streamer for Valentine’s Day, or just for decoration.
What You Need
Newspaper
Heart Stencil
Scissors
How To Make
Take a sheet of newspaper and stencil in the hearts so that they are in a row and touching one another
Cut out the shape of these hearts, not cutting in between them. This way they will remain together without having to use a string or any other material.
Your heart streamer is ready.
8. Newspaper Lamp Shade
If you have an old paper lampshade lying around that you haven’t used in a while, try redecorating it with your kids. It will be a fun project that you can all have fun doing together. Not only that but looking at it will bring back fond memories of your children.
[caption id="attachment_219732" align="aligncenter" width="533"] Source: stowandtellu.com[/caption]
What You Need
Water
Glue
Newspaper
Paint of different colours and brushes
Old Paper lampshade
How To Make
Shred the newspaper into pieces. You will be sticking these onto the old lampshade.
For sticking, use a glue mix which has equal parts water and equal parts glue to make the sealant.
Take the old paper lampshade and use the glue mixture to stick the pieces of newspaper. The old paper of the lampshade should be completely covered with the newspaper pieces without any gaps. Now leave this to dry.
When it is completely dry, laminate it with another coating of the glue mixture. Once it is completely dry, you can either draw and paint some colourful designs over this or leave the newspaper covering as it is to give an artsy and rustic look to the lampshade.
9. Xs and Os
Forget about playing this with paper and pen, try playing it like a board game instead. Follow these steps with your kids to make yourselves a fun and giant size game of Xs and Os.
What You Need
Six to seven sheets of newspaper
Cereal/cardboard boxes
Tape
Acrylic paints
How To Make
Roll one of the newspaper sheets along the length and stick tape on it to form a pipe. Flatten this pipe to form a flat stick. Make four such 'sticks'. Paste them together like a hashtag ('#') sign to form the grid for Xs and Os.
Use the cereal/cardboard box to cut out Xs and Os (5 each) of the desired size. Cover them with newspaper. Allow your kids to colour code them if they want! Your family-size Xs and Os is ready!
Keep an eye on your children if they are going to be using scissors and ensure to do the cutting for them if they are too young to do it themselves. Other than that, your children should have a marvellous time getting creative with something so easily available, cheap and versatile. There are many more recycled newspaper crafts for kids once you are done trying these simple ones out. You kids will love this new pass time and so will you.

Elegant Safari-themed Baby Shower Ideas
It takes a lot of time and works to plan the perfect baby shower. Aside from finding the ideal location and guest list, you must also create the perfect theme and stick to it throughout the whole event. It is just as important as picking the right venue, inviting the right people, and deciding on a theme ensures that the entire event adheres to it. If you want a safari-themed baby shower that is worthy of being a pinnacle, you must pay attention to every detail. With that said, there are other variations to the safari baby shower decorations to choose from, whether you're looking for the most creative invitations, the most delectable cuisine, or décor.
A safari-themed baby shower along with jungle-themed baby shower games are great alternatives for a mother-to-be who appreciates nature or animals (or both). To get you started, here are some ideas.
Best Jungle-themed Baby Shower Ideas
The jungle is a beautiful spot to obtain ideas for a baby shower because of the animals, the beautiful environment, and the delicious food. In any event, giraffes, monkeys, and natural vegetation are all ideal for celebrating an impending baby's arrival, regardless of whether this is the motif of the pregnant mother's nursery. Sending out invitations is the first stage in party planning. You must choose an invite that appropriately reflects your topic since it sets the tone and tells your guests what to anticipate. Food, decorations, and party favors are just a few of the items you'll need for the event.
This post is a comprehensive reference to shower accessories inspired by the rainforest. You have ten alternatives in this situation:
1. Baby Shower Invitation With Greenery and Wild Animals for a Boy
Everything starts with the invitations, which serve as the beginning point for everything. Consequently, here is the most suitable place to begin discussing the subject. There are beautiful safari baby shower invitations of friendly animals around information about the location, the time, and the title. These include an elephant, a giraffe, an impossibly gorgeous juvenile zebra, and a cheetah, as well as an incredibly adorable monkey! Choosing a proper invitation, such as this one, might assist you in setting the tone for your jungle adventure trip. This theme is centered on a newborn boy's fascination with safari animals. The invitation may be personalized and printed on card paper or professionally printed, depending on your preferences. Jungle creatures and beautiful nature heavily influence the design. This is a fantastic option if you're planning a small safari-themed baby shower.
2. Greenery From the Wild Jungle Safari and Gold Paper Cups
The jungle theme is a fun one to employ for a baby shower, and if you're organizing the event, you'll want to give your guests beverages in safari-themed paper cups to keep them entertained. Beautifully designed with delicate greenery and golden creatures like the giraffe and monkey, you may personalize this charming cup to suit your specific needs with soft foliage and golden animals, such as the giraffe and monkey. We propose making an uncommon punch, such as a combination of pineapple juice and sparkling water, to produce a suitable drink. Your guests will not feel bloated from the additional sugar in their beverages if they drink sparkling water and pineapple juice, a more healthful combination. Consider garnishing with a variety of fruits and gold straws in various hues, including greenery, gold, and ivory, and they elevate the overall appeal of the shower. Additionally, you can buy a choice of different accessories and decorations to go along with these adorable party cups.
3. Ten-inch Paradise Safari Hanging Paper Lanterns
This collection of animal print paper lanterns, whether simply strung from a tree branch or artfully arranged on a tree branch hanging over an outdoor table, would provide a charming touch to a jungle-themed baby shower, no matter where they are put on the table. Every one of these ten Paradise Safari Hanging Paper Ledgers has 12 pieces. These lanterns are surprisingly simple to create and make a lovely ornamental touch to any celebration. You can get the instructions here. Even though they are made of paper, they are pretty resilient and will survive for many years before replacing them.
Moreover, they are far more nuanced than they first seemed, and they are pretty easy to install and remove. However, they do not come with strings, so you will need to purchase some on your own to complete the look. They, on the other hand, are pretty amusing to watch. We believe they'll look fantastic when combined with lots of natural greenery, maybe some pale pink flowers, and brilliant fairy lights.
4. Vintage Rectangle Small Table Cloth With Lace and Macrame
Flower centerpieces for jungle theme baby showers or sparkling fairy lights may be used with a small, rectangular tablecloth to create an even more fanciful appearance. A must for any jungle-themed baby shower, this tablecloth is available in various colors and designs. If utilized alone, antique-style tablecloths have the potential to elicit feelings of wonder and awe, especially when paired with wonderfully picked floral accents, lighting, and bright jungle animals.
5. Arch With Sage Balloons and Garland Kit
It is a lovely centerpiece for a baby shower or birthday celebration using the Sage Green Balloons Garland Kit. A balloon arch provides an excellent picture opportunity for everyone attending the event. Fill the basket with a range of exciting goods, like pacifiers, hilarious masks, and other stuff that the pregnant woman and her friends will find entertaining. These balloons are a beautiful shade of blue that will go well with the color scheme of your celebration. In this arch, we appreciate the color scheme because it is modernistic, with sage and olive green balloons, and it is accented with gold, which is a color that has been explored extensively throughout this essay. Adding a few sprigs of tropical greenery to finish the appearance is a great finishing touch. This balloon garland kit is simple and includes a decoration strip and assembly instructions. Using it to decorate a space is an excellent method of breaking the budget. The balloons arrive flat, so you'll want to put them together a day or two ahead of time, according to the directions provided in the enclosed booklet.
6. Artificial Tropical Palm Leaves in a Pack
A few replica palm leaves that are reasonably realistic in appearance are a must-have for any event. In minutes, these tropical leaves can transform any party or house into a tropical haven. These fake leaves are composed of a long-lasting, glossy silk material that will lend a splash of color and texture to any space.

A Lifelike Stuffed Animal for a Baby Shower is a beautiful present for parents expecting their first child. Demonstration of Lifelike Stuffed Animals With a height of more than 4 feet, this enormous plush giraffe will undoubtedly be the main point (or at the very least one of the focal points) of the whole baby shower. If you want, you might wrap him in one of our gorgeous embroidered baby blankets and place a few ornaments around his neck. Perhaps you could try to include him in some baby-shower ring-throw game of some sort. Because it can be incorporated into the design while simultaneously functioning as a nursery feature, it is a win-win situation for everyone involved. You may customize these lovely plush animals with the child's name, birth date, weight, and height, as well as other information. In many cases, the enormous stuffed animals come with additional accouterments, such as a pacifier and a baby's clothes. A plush animal may be a wonderful present for a new baby or toddler.
8. Plates With a Chic Leaf Palm Leaf Design
Whether you're hosting a tropical-themed baby shower or a simple BBQ, palm leaf plates will add a touch of elegance to the occasion. The blend of childlike, beautiful, and natural components has us swooning with delight. With all of the sparkling greenery and a sprinkle of dazzling gold on them, these eco-friendly, biodegradable bamboo plates could not be more lovely. You can make a difference for the environment while still looking very stunning while doing it. The bamboo table settings would look great when combined with a few pieces of flatware you already have and a candy bar for each visitor. The sturdy, shatter-resistant plates are ideal for food ideas for safari-themed baby shower parties and serving any meal, even hot dishes. Because palm leaf plates are fully biodegradable, there are no concerns about chemicals or pollutants released into the environment. Not to mention that you may microwave them for an extra-hot supper if you like.
9. Jungle Safari Animal Faces Cookie Cutter Set

You may take several different ways with your jungle-themed meals. Because they're composed of tin-plated steel, they're entirely safe to eat. The animal shapes may then make a cookie buffet when the celebration is over. To put it differently, no matter which safari animal cookie cutters you choose, there will almost surely be something you can create with them.
10. Leaf-shaped String Lights

Setting Up a Bedroom For An Older Foster Child
Welcoming a foster child into your home is exciting and a little overwhelming. The child needs to feel secure and wanted. It's very important that you provide her with a space she can call her own. Have a look at these older foster child's bedroom decorating ideas for help.
Welcoming a foster child into a family can be an exciting yet apprehensive time for both the foster parents and the child. Each side has to make adjustments and learn to be accepting of one another. If you’re planning to foster an older child, it’s important that she’s made to feel safe, secure and comfortable in your home. The first place you can start with is her bedroom. It should be appropriate for her age. You can’t have too many stuffed toys in a room meant for a teenager!
Important Tips for Decorating an Older Foster Kid’s Room
Involve the Child
Try and take your foster child’s opinion whenever you can. Remember her age and know that she has likes and dislikes. It’s considerate to ask what colour she’d like her room to be, or what drapes she’d prefer. This will make her feel like her opinion matters and that she’s a part of the family. You can choose the basics yourself, but when it comes to the things that matter, take her opinion.
Make the Room Welcoming
An important tip to decorate your older foster child’s bedroom is not to crowd the space with toys and gadgets you think may make it look nice. Too many items can make a child feel overwhelmed. Instead, put a light rug on the floor, a few soft pillows and a colourful blanket on the bed, and maybe a beanbag in the corner. All these things impart a sense of comfort and security without leaving the room feeling swamped.
Avoid Stereotyping
Try to avoid categorising the room according to your choice. Just because the new member of your family is a boy does not mean you have to paint the room blue, or if it’s a girl, you don’t necessarily have to go with pink. Choose a neutral colour such as light green or pale yellow. If your foster child is a teenager, don’t assume she’d like a poster of the latest teen heartthrob on the wall. The room needs to be a reflection of the child’s personality and each is different, so don’t generalise.
Let the Child’s Creative Juices Flow
When planning how to decorate an older foster child’s room, be open to her suggestions. She’s new to the family and if she has a suggestion for her bedroom, it’s probably taken a lot of courage to voice it. If you don’t think it’s a good idea, don’t shoot it down immediately.
When bringing a foster child into your home, it’s important that you treat her as an equal member of the family. These room decorating ideas for an older foster child should help you do that. The bedroom is the place she can call her own, which is why it’s crucial that it’s welcoming and calming. You can place a few healthy snacks in the room as well since she may be hesitant to ask for something to eat initially. Read more

BREASTFEEDING ISN'T A SOLO JOB!!!
PARTNER'S SUPPORT IS EVERYTHING
Breastfeeding is the process of feeding human breast milk to a child, either directly from the breast or by pumping out. It is also called NURSING. It is the best way to make skin to skin contact to make a stronger Bond with your baby.
so,I exclusively breastfeed both my sons for intiall six months and here I am sharing some of my experiences.
Initially due to over milk production and blood flow I had to face problem of breast engorgement, due to which my breast was kind of swollen tender breast that felt extremely full all the time. My newborn was not able to suck all the milk which causes extreme pain in my breasts and which used to make me cry.Another problem ,I faced that I was an exhausted Sleepless mother whose child could not sleep without nipples in his mouth.Sleeping in one position throughout the night after C .section started giving me back pains. Along with these major problem sometimes I had problem of cracked nipples as well, but all this could not have been easy for me without support of my husband and my mother-in-law. My husband was always there, supporting me mentally as well as emotionally in all those Sleepless Nights. He used to take care of my meals. He used to cuddle ,burp our baby after long tiring sessions of breastfeeding. After all these exhausted moments ,when he used to said," Really, it's not easy to be a MOTHER." worked as a magic. He always made me feel special by Reminding me That he Always Find me Sexy. ..used to Spend Time With me as much as he could.. .by taking care of his Gross Stuff. ... used to Offer a Lot of Little Compliments. ...by helping me out with little things.

Birthday Blues: How to Smoothly Sail to Your Child's Next Milestone
Being a full moon night, there was enough light coming from the window, for Shalini to sit by the sill and ponder. It definitely had been one heck of a day, again. Since the last few days, Kairav had become extremely difficult to handle. There was no particular reason for him to behave so. Neither had there been any change in his schedule, nor was any other evident reason that she could think of. His first birthday was approaching and she had planned an elaborate Theme Party for the upcoming event. She had loads of tasks to get done but Kairav's behaviour, his stubbornness and his crankiness, was not giving her a spare minute. She was unable to comprehend his behaviour pattern. Her otherwise, always smiling, playful and cheerful child was exhibiting some unusual traits; not eating well, not following his routine, screaming for every small thing that he was not allowed to do. Shalini was puzzled and worried.
Can you also relate to Shalini's situation?
As adults, we also go through mood swings; we have Monday Blues or Morning Blues. Similarly, children experience Birthday Blues. When your child is about to reach his/her next milestone, such as the First/ Second/ Third Birthday, you may notice him/her becoming overly cranky. It happens because around that time, their bodies are going through immense physical changes, internally. Most of it are invisible. The child has no knowledge about this ongoing development which has a direct connection with their mood. Like, when women are closer to their menstruation cycle they have extreme mood swings. Similarly, even kids are experiencing some difference in their body. Children have only one way of expressing disappointment, and that is through crying or acting in ways where they can command attention.
Also, kids are highly sensitive. They can sense the preparations happening around them during this time. Some children are not very people friendly. For them their 'Themed Birthday' will not necessary be fun. Imagine that suddenly you have been asked to go and perform on the stage, with your costume, act, and everything pre-prepared. Wouldn't you be nervous?
The same is with children who are not so people-friendly. Their anxiety levels increase, and they don't know how to control them; therefore, they get extremely cranky. The easiest and simplest way to deal with your child's tantrums is by, firstly, keeping calm. Don't get annoyed or irritated with your child. Keep your calm while dealing with your child. Second, must have lots of patience. Your child is not a slave of your commands, and so, he/she might not do everything you want. Last and most important, give your child ample amount of time. Keep yourself relatively free. Do not take up any extra assignments or work. Spend a lot of time with your child, helping him/her accomplish daily goals and move comfortably towards the upcoming milestone.
Your child is going through certain changes, which are too much for him/her to deal with. You are their only recluse, so make it a point to give all your time to your child during this time. This is how you can help your child beat Birthday Blues and make his milestone truly joyous for everyone.
