Action Words To Teach Your Toddler
Before learning to converse, there's a whole list of action words to teach your 19-month-old toddler. Easy to learn and fun to teach, it's important for him to combine all of them to expand his vocabulary and know how to form phrases.
A toddler’s introduction to language begins by learning a few basic words and then expanding his vocabulary to form phrases and gradually conversing. The learning starts with basic sounds and words and moves on to names of people, places, and things. To make toddlers eager to learn a language, parents need to create enthusiasm. One of the best ways to do this is to teach action words. Toddlers find it easier to learn if they associate an action with a word.
How to Teach Action Words to Toddlers in a Few Simple Ways
Firm Introduction
Children must be introduced to the word action first. This can be done by showing them how an action is performed, i.e. by doing something. These actions could be simple things like eating, coloring, playing and sitting. Note some easy action words for kids and encourage your child to do them by performing them along with him.
Introduce Groups
It’s a good idea to introduce action words in groups. Compile action words in a group of words and read them aloud. Then, while calling out an item from the list of action words for toddlers, add a few non-action words and see if he can spot them.
Draw The Action
Learning a word becomes easier if you ask your child to draw a picture of that particular action word. It will also help in the development of motor skills aside from your toddler’s vocabulary list. This can also be played as a fun game where other kids have to guess what the action is.
Sing with Rhymes
A simple way to teach action words is by reciting rhymes that focus on actions. It makes them much easier to remember too. Some popular rhymes are:
Row your boat
Incy wincy spider
One, two, buckle my shoe
Rub-a-dub-dub
Teddy bear, teddy bear
Hop a little
Word Association
Another method of teaching your toddler action words as well as helping him remember different body parts is to associate the two things together. You can tell them the action that each body part does, for example, the eyes wink and blink, and the legs walk and run.
Keep Reminding
Make a board of all the action words for toddlers that you want your child to learn. Cut out pictures from magazines and discarded books, and put words beside each one for easy teaching.
Common Action Words
Here’s a list of the most common action words that can be used for teaching your toddler:
Jump, crawl, eat, drink, go, stop, run, walk, sleep, wash, kiss, open, close, push, pull, play, hug, tickle, dance, shake, sit, stand, throw, catch, and come.
Teaching and learning become easier if taught in a fun and playful way. The same should also be done with action words. Read more

Antioxidant Rich Foods Your Kids Must Start Eating Today
Pizzas, burgers, French fries – these are the kind of foods your kids enjoy and eat readily. Yummy as they are, they are loaded with fats and carbohydrates, and have little else to offer. And being well aware of that, you try to sneak in healthier foods like green vegetables and whole grains. But it’s an uphill climb, what with your child refusing to eat them. For no child cares about the nutrition value of their meals; all they care about is that it should be yummy! What if we told you that there are certain foods whose goodness you are missing out on - foods that are as healthy as they are delicious and actually make your kids stronger and more resilient?
So can you guess what it is you have been missing out on? Antioxidants.
What exactly are antioxidants and how do they benefit us?
In our increasingly polluted world, our bodies have to fight hard against infections and diseases. Did you know there's a secret and all-natural weapon to fight these and improve immunity? Yes, that secret weapon is known as antioxidants. Simply put, antioxidants are nutrients like vitamins A, C and E found in certain fruits, vegetables and legumes. Let's take a look.
1. Sweet potato
Loaded with vitamin A, the sweet potato is the healthier and sweeter version of the regular potato. The high percentage of beta-carotene content—which, by the way, is more than that in green leafy vegetables— makes it an extremely rich antioxidant.
How to get your child to eat them: Sweet potatoes taste best roasted and even fried like regular French fries.
2. Prunes
Prunes or dried plums are one of the best sources of antioxidants. Rich in soluble and insoluble fibre, vitamin A, iron, and even essential minerals like potassium, magnesium and copper, prunes have totally earned their superfood status. Low fat, low salt, low calories, and still lip smacking...what’s not to love?
How to get your child to eat them: Puree some Del Monte prunes and add them to plain yogurt for a sweet new flavor of yogurt your child won’t be able to resist. These prunes are of premium quality and dried from the freshest plums. You can also try some of the creative (and yummy!) recipes with prunes available on the Del Monte India Facebook page. These recipes may just become the next family favourite!
3. Red capsicum
Sweet and crispy, red capsicum is far healthier than its green and yellow counterparts. Low in calories, it has two times more vitamin C and A. Not to mention its vibrant red color makes it far more appetizing!
How to get your child to eat them: No, you do not need to order a pizza to get your child to eat red bell pepper. Simply roast and puree them and serve hot...it tastes just like tomato soup.
4. Raisins
Who would have thought that this yummy treat is good for your little ones? With all the debate surrounding whether raisins are healthy or not, truth is that raisins are healthy and should certainly be a part of your child’s daily diet. The dried form of grapes, these little fellows have three times more antioxidants than grapes. And since they are easy to carry wherever you go and adored by kids of all ages, this is one food item you must certainly not forego.
How to get your child to eat them: Pack it as a snack in their tiffin – and don’t expect the tiffin to return home empty.
5. Cocoa Powder
This one is something that will make your kids love you even more! Packed with minerals like calcium, magnesium and sodium, cocoa is better than chocolate in more ways than one.
How to get your child to eat it: Add a spoonful of cocoa and a dash of sugar to your child’s daily glass of milk – and watch him gulp it down in minutes.
Including these items in your child’s daily meals will ensure he gets his quota of antioxidants. This will help him stay stronger against infection and disease and allow him to make the most of the glorious days of childhood. So moms, go ahead and treat your child to a serving of yummy prunes and a glass of cocoa right away! Read more

Spinach is good for eyes and improves vision; therefore, it must be given to children.
Young kids drink less water than adults. Spinach helps in this case because of its high water content. It also helps prevent dehydration.

How do you like to portray your child? Attention seeking child or Connection seeking child?
Many parents say that their children always seek attention, and they are attention-seeking children! On the flip side, some parents say,
My child might be having some problems!
I am finding it challenging to handle a child!
I am exhausted!!!"
Is it true that the child is seeking your attention?
Most of the time, it is not. Then, what is the child seeking? Your child is seeking connection rather than attention. Many parents choose presentations to make their children happy and avoid those fussy behaviours.
Do you think the child will be happy? Maybe, for a moment.
A child doesn't need your presentation; a child needs your presence.
How to identify if your children need your presence?
Children may be asking you to play with them
Children may be sticking around you
Children may be crying or sad most of the time or not eating properly
Children are complaining that toys are not working properly and many others
How to help?
Providing undivided attention means being attentive to your child without other disturbances like TV, phone, or other work.
Responding to the child at least one or half an hour a day. You can sit, converse, play, cuddle, hug, paint, sing, listen. Guess what? So many things can be done with your child to have a better connection.
Taking children for an evening walk, playing outside, shopping or to a friend’s house.
Important note:
While doing any activities at home or talking or answering, try making direct eye contact with your child. Hence, the children understand that you are with them.
Attention is one of the factors of connection!
Don't label your child at any moment!!
Your child needs your warmth, laughter, and support. Try providing your child with unconditional love.
Don't let your child down!
"Your child needs you!" Read more

Pregnant lady’s body shows whether it’s boy or girl: Fact or myth
Like new generation’s conceiving mom, I wanted a healthy baby irrespective of its gender. But was alsocurious to know , what I was nurturingin my womb. Since we live in India, neither sex determination is allowed nor we can have sexrevealingparties.
So like all reading my article ,out of inquisitiveness, I also googled the old wives’ tales to know whether it is a boy or girl. And here I will share what old tales andmy body signalled me about the sex of my child.
1. Morning sickness : I started having nauseaand vomitings right from the secondmonth of conceiving . I had so much problem that myweight decreased from 64 to 61 Kg which signalled that I was going to have a princess .
2. Active or Clumpsy : I was active throughtout my pregnancy . Never felt tired and was always in happy mood . This again means it’s agirl.
3. Craving: I ate too much jalebis in my whole pregnancy. Almost every third day , I used to crave for sweets. My mother-in - law also predictedthat I am going to have a daughter after seeing my taste.
4. Heartburn : I used to have so much heartburn during my third trimister that I used to lie down with two pillows under my head.So nowI was expecting a rupenzel with longblack hair like me.
5. Beauty : It is said that babygirl steals mother’s beauty and same happened , pimples, mask of pregnancy on my face.
6. Carrying high or low: My tummy buldge was not near the rib cage , it was somewhat down which indicates towards baby boy.The only sign of having a boy.
7. Lineof nigra:I had a darkbrown line from my belly button to pubic area and not extended towards the ribs. By this time , I was sure and started shopping pink dresses.
By this time , most of you also might have made out about the gender of your baby after reading these . But I want to share that these signs didn’t tuned out true for me.I had a first glimpse of my baby boy in pink clothes and pink blanket. So
I will request all of you to read all this just for theenjoyment purpose and not toshop pink like me.
Happy and healthy pregnancy to all the mothers!!! Read more

A. White spots on the body and face could be there sometimes, which maybe because of fungal infection or some conditions like pityriasis alba or some other factors some conditions are aggravated by dry skiniu, show a proper mousturisation is required. Also, maintain a proper hygiene and a proper assessment should be done to rule out any other causative factor
