Pest Control with a Baby Around - How to Go for It
If you want to do pest control in your home but there is a baby in your house, then you will have to be extremely careful. Pesticides come in many forms, namely bug sprays, weed killer, insect repellent, flea shampoo, or rat poison which are all dangerous for babies. Exposure to pesticide happens by skin contact, ingestion, or inhalation. Hence, it is suggested that you should keep your baby away for minimum two to seven days when pest control is being done. However, herbal pest control is considered safe for babies, even if it is swallowed. But it is wise to keep your baby away.
Is Pest Control Safe for Babies?
Infants are prone to health problems as their immune strength is low. Hence, the risk of being affected by the harmful effects of toxins is more. Pesticides are very strong and contain harmful chemicals. Some pesticides may even lead to learning disabilities, childhood cancers, and asthma in children. In order to minimize the exposure, vacating the house and moving to a local park when the treatment is being done is a precautionary measure that you can take as parents.
What Are the Risks Associated with Wrong Pest Control Practices?
When kids toddle around the house, you must opt for pest control services that are baby safe and child-friendly. Some risks with incorrect pest control practices are mentioned below:
Some products are not environment-friendly and contain strong chemicals. These chemicals may harm the immune system of the newborn babies as their tolerance level is extremely low.
If pest control products are incorrectly and improperly labelled, it may be mistakenly consumed by small infants thinking it to be some edible product.
There is also a high health risk associated with poor knowledge on natural pest-controlling methods. If babies put things lying around the house in their mouth, it may cause a major risk.
A child may suffer from childhood cancer or learning disability if the dangerous effects of side effects are not considered.
If you use home remedies and your child is exposed to the pesticide, it may cause health problems if inhaled or touched by the skin.
Tips to Minimize the Risk of Pest Control on Infants
Certain tips, if borne in mind, can help minimize the risk of pest control on infants.
Keep the common household pesticides out of children’s reach.
Install safety latches on cabinets where pesticides are locked up.
Read the directions written on the label carefully before using any product.
The container must be tightly sealed with child-resistant packaging after every use.
Avoid storing pesticides in containers which can be mistaken for some drink or food.
How to Choose a Baby Safe Pest Control Company

Interesting Facts about Babies in the Womb
1. Stress Affects Them Adversely
Can babies see in the womb? Yes, they can feel all palpable tensions too. Anxiety reported by moms make foetuses use their left hands for touching their face. This clearly suggests that a mother’s emotions do impact a baby’s movements in surprising and subtle ways. This also means that moms-to-be must be relaxed at all times.
2. They Taste Your Supper Too
Certain food ingredients such as ginger, garlic, anise, and other sweet flavours find their presence in the amniotic fluid. They often alter the flavour of the same. Now, this seems to be nature’s way of introducing an unborn baby to other food flavours that she’s likely to enjoy after entering the world. 3. They Smile and Express Emotions
From the onset of the thirty-sixth week, babies start showing facial expressions. They bring forth a downturned mouth, wrinkled nose, or a frown in their mom's womb. Yes, foetuses may also sport a beautiful smile, relax their faces, or shut their eyes in complete bliss. So cute!
4. They Love Your Stories
According to studies done on babies during reading times, foetal heartbeats become less hurried as they are more relaxed while listening to the stories narrated by their would-be-moms. Among the many facts about babies in the womb, this proves to be the most interesting one, as babies are known to become receptive to the calls of their relatives too. They start recognising others by their voices once they are born – wow!
5. Your Baby Knows How to Breathe
True that the umbilical cord is useful for providing the oxygen needed by the foetus during pregnancy, but then the baby knows how to breathe too. At just nine weeks, they start practicing breathing, going through the respiratory motions and thus perfecting this necessity of life. Really! There’s no end to what babies learn in the womb to think of it.

Vaccination - the Key to Healthy, Sickness-free Living for Babies
Vaccinations begin from the time you open your eyes on earth. It's the key to healthy, sickness-free living for babies and cannot or should not be missed. It gives parents the assurance that their kid will be safe. There are two main types of vaccinations available in India - one that's affordable for all, and one that's painless which comes at an extra cost. I chose the painless one for my baby and it worked wonders. My Shaarav did not catch a fever post any of his vaccinations - just a little cry and then all was good. My baby just got a shot of swine flu recently, and one more is due for next month. I urge parents to not miss even a single shot of vaccination as it can spoil your child's life properly. Take out the time to get your kid vaccinated or you will regret it for a lifetime. Healthy living comes with vaccinations!
I travel by the local train daily and see the differently-abled compartment, where a lot of polio-affected people travel. Somewhere, someday their parents missed to take out time to get them vaccinated and ruined their life. I feel so sorry to see them in pain. There are cases of swine flu in babies. If they were well-vaccinated they would never have contracted it, it's that simple. We nurture our baby in the womb for 9 long months, then why don't we take out time for getting them vaccinated?
Somewhere, some negligence on our part becomes a struggle for the kid for his entire life. So please take it seriously and pay close attention to your child's vaccination schedule. Also, it is now easily available at all government hospitals, child care centres, hospitals, etc.
My kid has got all his doses on time and, touch wood, till this day hasn't suffered even from fever. He is my heartbeat; how can I not let him live safe and healthy?
Live happily, stay calm, and definitely get your child his/her shots on time!

A. Typically, your bump becomes noticeable during your second trimester. Between 16-20 weeks, your body will start showing your baby's growth. For some women, their bump may not be noticeable until the end of the second trimester and even into the third trimester. The second trimester starts in the fourth month.
