20 Fun Movies You Can Watch with Your Family
Movies are fun to watch. They take you to a world of fantasy, wonder, suspense, thrill, comedy and whatnot; you name it, they have it. However, not every movie can be watched with family. Therefore, here is an article that explores 20 Bollywood and Hollywood movies that can be watched and enjoyed with family.
Surprising Benefits of Watching Movies with Your Family
Watching movies with your family, at a movie theatre or at home, can easily be one of the best ways to spend quality time with your family. It is also economical than many other recreational activities that we usually do as a family and has benefits which are listed below.
1. Great Way to Bond
Watching movies together is a great way in which you can spend some quality time with your parents, brothers, sisters, children or spouse. It creates an emotional bond by bringing every member of the family closer to each other and as a matter of fact, the family members look forward to the weekends when they can catch up on a movie together.
2. Children Do Not Have Any Behavioural Issues
Children belonging to close-knit families do not suffer from any kind of behavioural issues like lying, stealing, hurting others etc. Moreover, while watching movies, parents tend to teach children about good values and behaviour whenever they come across any such scene in the movies.
3. Children Don’t Get into the Habit of Substance Abuse
It has been noted that children who get to spend more time with their parents and family members have fewer chances of becoming drug addicts. Getting your children to watch a movie with you every weekend or during holidays will stop them from going out with their friends and getting into bad company.
4. Gives a Sense of Security
Watching movies together brings the family together. Seeing this, the family members feel more secure and confident. They know that if anything happens, their family will be there to support them.
5. Brings Husband and Wife Closer to Each Other
Watching movies together brings the spouses together. It creates an intimate bond when they get to spend more time with each other. Moreover, the love and bond between the parents set a good example for the children to have a good married life in the future.
6. Children Will Not be Abusive and Violent
Some children may enjoy watching violent and fierce movies. However, if you all watch as a family, the parents will select movies that are apt for them and enjoyable too.
7. Makes the Home Atmosphere Light and Happy
A good comedy movie always makes people laugh. Therefore, watching it with your family will make the family feel relaxed after a hard week at work and rejuvenate all for the coming week ahead. Moreover, sitting and laughing together is a great stress buster and it lightens the mood and atmosphere at home.
8. Enhances Children’s Intellect
While watching movies, parents answer the questions that the children ask thereby making them more well-informed and knowledgeable.
9. Keeps Sibling Rivalry at Bay
Sibling rivalry arises from a feeling that the parents are favouring the other child more. This brings in a feeling of jealousy and misunderstanding among siblings, but spending quality time by watching a movie together on weekends, gives the parents the opportunity to sit and interact with every child equally. This makes both the children feel important and loved by their parents and as such, there is no place for sibling rivalry.
10. Children Learn to Open Up With the Family
Indian upbringing is such that children tend to be bit subdued in front of the senior members of the family. However, while watching a movie together with the whole family, the children get a scope to open up with the other members of the family.

How To Explain Sequencing to Preschoolers
The art of sequencing can be incorporated into your daily activities and during play time for toddlers. There are many sequencing activities for preschoolers that will make the process enjoyable, and before you know it, they will learn the skill of sequencing.
As simple and logical as it may sound, a task like sequencing is also a big deal for toddlers. Children between 37-42 months of age generally learn the art of sequencing by observing adults around them. As parents, it becomes your prerogative to help them learn the process by clarifying their concepts and introducing this skill in a fun way.
How to Teach Sequencing to Preschoolers
1. What is Sequencing?
Sequencing refers to the ability of a child to understand how objects and events occur in a logical sequential manner. This is a very important aspect of communication for a child. Understanding of this skill enables him to retell stories and recreate events while narrating. As parents, teaching sequencing to children can be done through the following fun ways:
Ask your child to identify the 'first', 'second' and the 'last' color of the cars that he can see parked.
While playing blocks, ask your child to place a block on 'top' of the other, and another big one at the 'bottom'.
Engage your child in a task like coloring and ask him what he needs first, next and last.
While making your child ready, tell him to wear his T-shirt first, pants second, jacket third and shoes last.
2. Sequence Games for Preschoolers
Engage your toddler in such activities when he is receptive and looking forward to a game. Here are some sequencing activities you can try:
Colors Game
Ask your child to follow instructions and place differently colored blocks or balls in a particular sequence. Your instructions should be 'Put the red circle first, put the yellow square second, the blue triangle comes third' and so on.
Sequencing of Toys
Instruct your child to place toys in a particular sequence and then build a story around it.
Sequence Pictures
Get a picture game that describes events in a sequential manner through pictures and help your child to play with it.
Puzzles
Puzzles also help in developing sequencing skills in toddlers. Give your child a puzzle to solve frequently.
3. Precautions to Consider
Teaching sequencing to children can be fun, but there are also some important points to consider as you start this process:
Introduce concepts one by one and don't clutter your toddler's mind. For example, start with words like 'first' and 'last'. Once your toddler understands this then introduce other words like 'second' and 'third'.
Take small steps and start with simple games. It's advisable not to move on to sequencing pictures game until the concept has been understood well.
Take up this fun exercise with your toddler and you will be amazed to see the change in him. Once your toddler starts narrating stories, you will look at him in amazement and wonder when he became so big!
Has this happened with you too? If yes, share with us the story of you and your baby while you taught him sequencing. Read more

Can Your Baby Understand the Tone of Your Voice?
Babies already recognize their mommy’s voice when they are born, but what about the tone? Does your baby understand what you are trying to say? Find out now.
Do you wish your little bundle of joy to communicate to you and recognize your voice with all its intonations? At birth and in the months to come, your little one is like a visitor to a new land. She can’t yet understand the language you speak or the tone of your voice at birth, but she is definitely familiar with it as she has heard you all along from inside the womb.
In months to come she will start tuning to the tone of your voice and try to communicate back to you by certain sounds and expressions. Understanding the tone of your voice will be an important development milestone your baby will cross in the first early months of his life.
When Does it Develop?
At birth, your little one may not understand the tone of your voice, the meaning behind the words or the language you use to communicate to her. However, she can perceive emotions like love, happiness, concern, anxiety and anger. She will slowly pick up on vocabulary and in time learn to comprehend what you are trying to say by the tone of your voice.
Following are The Development Milestones of Your Baby’s Understanding and Perception of Language and Communication:
1. Newborn to Two Months
As soon as your baby is born, he begins to absorb and perceive information. Although this information may seem foreign to your little one, your baby is learning to emotionally adapt to you and the rest of the family. Your baby is getting secure in the family environment she is born in.
2. Two to Four Months
Your little one begins to observe everything that goes around him. He is now able to understand your responses to his activities. At three months your baby will start attempting to respond back to your actions. He will start making certain gurgling noises when he hears the tone of your voice.
3. Four to Seven Months
Your little one can now fully tune into the tone of your voice. She will start recognizing the names you call her and will respond to your words in actions or funny noises. When you sound happy, she will respond back joyfully and if you seem angry, she will begin to cry. She will be able to make out the difference between you and other family members. She will link each tone of voice to the personality associated.
4. Seven to Twelve Months
Your baby can now obey orders. He will follow and do what you say. Your little one will also test your responses to his action and behaviour. He will also understand and associate actions and gestures to certain words, such as refusal to eat, or waving someone goodbye. He will slowly start uttering and copying words that you or your spouse speak.
Talking with your baby on a regular basis will help him grasp the ability to understand the tone of your voice, and pick up communication skills. Encourage your baby’s responses to your behaviour as he will understand what is acceptable and what is not. Your baby will soon develop eye contact, body language and communicate the same way you do! Parenting is Raising Our Bundle of Joy with Equal Responsibility!
Are we heading towards a century of robotics, automation, and a completely digital world? Yes.
I came across an advertisement where a mother scolds her married pregnant daughter for telling her husband that it's the father's duty to take care of his pregnant wife and also share parenting responsibilities. The daughter replies that her husband hardly knows how to prepare tea! She immediately realised that her own son is not prepared for anything related to basic household chores.
Mothers concentrate on their daughters learning basic household chores and kitchen work. Sons are told, "You have just to work for your future family, your wife will take care of children and household work."
This mindset is still rattling around. A girl is still told to think before she talks, walks or dresses up, while sons are not told anything.
I remember aunties in the neighbourhood saying if boys don't study, we can open them a shop or business! Girls can get married, which requires a lot of money!
Are we teaching our sons equality?
Equality means girls should be educated and allowed to work and speak their mind! Very right! Does equality mean that girls take 2 steps towards being a man? But a man can take similar steps to share a woman's duties too (which have been labelled since ages, like cleaning, kitchen, kids, parenting, etc.)
Girl and boys need to be taught good manners at home and in public. Both need to be taught to respect each other's gender and the work they do.
Parents should learn to accept that both girls and boys are equal. Bullying men helping their wives or bullying women for going to office should not be accepted.
Let's accept that parenting is the responsibility of both parents. Parenting is fun and learning new things from our children daily.
Let's teach our children to be good parents in future!

An Apology to My First Child
This story is a heartfelt apology to my first child. I wish I could raise my first baby yet again the way I'm now raising my second one.
My daughter is now 4 years old and my son is 1.7 years old. Being a first-time mom, you are not aware of a lot of things and also, there are always extra suggestions that you get from a set of people around you. You get confused while taking care of your child. However, with my second baby, I am much more confident about my routine of care and food.
Now I wish I could do the same with my first child, as there are many habits she doesn't have because she isn't used to a particular routine right from her childhood. One example I can think of is that my second baby has gud and aate ka halwa for breakfast daily, which is an achievement for me. But my daughter doesn't like these foods because she never used to have such a habit when she was younger. I feel bad that I didn't do this with my daughter. My mother-in-law forced me to bottle-feed my first baby and I could not speak at the time. But when it comes to my second baby, I could stand up and say that I want my child to have more of solid foods and milk would be of second preference, which is what doctors also say.
My daughter is not healthy from within, I feel. She has not developed an interest for food whereas my boy who's 1.7 years old only has started having food on his own using a spoon.
So this is just a wish and a apology for my 4 year-old-daughter. I wish I could get back those 4 years and pamper you with much, much more love!
This is also a message for new moms. Listen to your elders, but do what you think is right for your child. Older moms are important but today's moms are much more educated, so there should be a balance between the decisions and advice of both when it comes to taking care of your kids!
