No Heartbeat At 6 Weeks - FAQs
Foetal heartbeat is one of the indicators of a baby’s growth, health and development. Normally, a baby’s heart begins to beat after the 6th week of pregnancy. If, during an ultrasound, you don’t hear or see a heartbeat at 6 weeks, it is quite natural to get worried.
What Is a Normal Foetal Heartbeat?
A normal foetal heart rate ranges from 120 to 160 bpm (beats per minute) when it is first detected. The heart rate can then rise to 170 bpm around the 10th week and fall to 130 bpm until the end of the gestational period.
While the myocardium in your baby starts contracting around the 3rd week, a sonogram picks it up only after 6 weeks. The table below lists the ideal heartbeat rate at different weeks of pregnancy.

No Heartbeat At 6 Weeks - Is it Normal?
It is very common to not hear a heartbeat at a 6-week ultrasound scan. In some cases, moms-to-be don’t hear their baby’s heartbeat until they’re 7 weeks pregnant.
Not hearing a foetal heartbeat at 6 weeks is normal and there’s no reason for worry. The gestational age of your pregnancy may also be inaccurate. Due to an irregular ovulation pattern or inaccurate estimate of your last menstrual cycle, you may not really be 6 weeks pregnant. This could also be the reason for not hearing a heartbeat.
The mom-to-be’ds body itself may be one of the factors. A tipped uterus or a large abdomen may make it difficult to hear the foetal heartbeat.
Apart from these, the type of ultrasound also matters. An abdominal ultrasound is less sensitive and may take longer to identify a heartbeat. On the other hand, transvaginal ultrasound is more accurate, especially during early pregnancy, as it is inserted into your vagina and has better access to the uterus.
Is There a Chance of Miscarriage If You Don’t Hear or See a Heartbeat During the Ultrasound?
Lack of foetal heartbeat indicates a miscarriage in the following instances:
There’s no heartbeat and your hCG levels start
You don’t hear a heartbeat in subsequent ultrasound checkups.
Ultrasound measurements indicate that a heartbeat should have been present.
Your doctor may also measure the crown to rump measurements with the foetal pole as a basis to determine the risk of a miscarriage.
If an embryo is larger than 5 millimetres and has no heartbeat, it may indicate a miscarriage. Also, if a gestational sac which is larger than 8 millimetres has no yolk sac or a gestational sac which is larger than 16 millimetres has no embryo is could indicate a miscarriage.
What If There Is No Heartbeat At the 7th Week Ultrasound Scan?
While no heartbeat in follow-up ultrasound scans may signal a miscarriage, there is still hope. If there’s no heartbeat at the 7th week ultrasound, it may still be too early. Assuming seven weeks have passed after your menstrual cycle, you may still be at four weeks during your first ultrasound and five weeks at the subsequent one in case of irregular periods.
No Foetal Heartbeat At 8 Weeks Ultrasound – Is There Any Hope?
If your conception date is accurate and there is no heartbeat at 8 weeks, then you might have lost your baby. However, there are also instances of healthy babies who didn’t have a heartbeat at 8 weeks.
What If You’re Told That You’ve Had a Miscarriage?
If your gynaecologist tells you that you’ve miscarried and suggests a particular course of treatment, make sure you’re confident of the treatment being the right choice. If you aren’t 100% sure, ask for another follow-up ultrasound. You can also wait for a few more days so long as you’re not at risk of an ectopic pregnancy. Alternatively, also get a second opinion from an Ob-Gyn.
Is It Possible to Hear the Baby’s Heartbeat At Home?
According to doctors, it’s difficult to hear foetal heartbeat at home with the human ear. Some expecting mothers claim that they can hear their baby’s heartbeat through their belly, but this can only be possible in a quiet room and in the later stages of pregnancy. If you can’t hear your foetus’ heartbeat at home, schedule a sonogram with a qualified gyneacologist.
How Can You Keep Your Foetus’ Heart Healthy?
There are several reasons why you may not hear your baby’s heartbeat at 6 weeks. Although there’s little you can do about it, you can take the following steps to ensure your foetus’ heart is healthy.
Take folic acid during pregnancy as it prevents congenital heart defects in the baby.
Quit smoking if you do. Did you know that 2 percent of heart defects in babies are caused due to smoking in the first trimester?
Keep your blood sugar levels under control, especially if you have gestational diabetes.
Avoid using Accutane if you have acne as it puts your baby at risk of foetal heart defects.
Stay away from alcohol and drugs to avoid foetal alcohol syndrome and other complications.
Remember that 6 weeks may be too early to hear your baby’s heartbeat. But if you don’t hear it even after 8 weeks, then consult your gynaecologist to rule out possible complications.

Bleeding or haemorrhage in late pregnancy and the risks associated with it are the most prevalent causes of pregnancy-related mortality of both, the mother and the baby. It affects around 10% of all pregnant women and is usually indicative of a more serious problem.
What Is the Difference Between Spotting and Bleeding?
Bleeding involves a heavy blood flow, requiring you to protect your underwear from staining by using a liner or a sanitary napkin. Spotting, on the other hand, is the leakage of only a few drops of blood, like you see right before your period starts and just after it ends.
Causes
Bleeding in late pregnancy is most likely due to a placental issue, but might also be due to problems with the vagina or the cervix. Some of the most common causes are:
1. Placenta Previa
Placenta previa refers to the condition in which your placenta falls onto the cervix, which is located below the uterus. It can sometimes hinder delivery as it creates a cervical blockage, preventing the baby from emerging. During the final weeks of pregnancy, when your cervical walls dilate to get ready for the baby, the placenta might tear, which may cause bleeding.
2. Vasa Previa

3. Placental Rupture
In some cases, the placenta detaches from the uterine wall, which is known as placental abruption. It only occurs in around 2% of pregnancies but might induce premature labour.
4. Vaginal Infection
Your hormonal ups and downs increase the risk of contracting infections like thrush, herpes, vaginosis and chlamydia. These infections can lead to inflammation in the vagina, causing bleeding.
5. Cervical Ectropion
In this condition, the glandular cells that line the inside of the cervical canalform a red, inflamed patch on the outside of the cervix. The delicate cells on the outside produce more mucous and bleed easily, especially after sex or intense exercise. This may lead to bleeding or pain inlate pregnancy. Cervical ectropion is one of the most common causes of bleeding during pregnancy; however, itdoes not pose any long-term damage.
6. Uterus Tearing
In some rare cases, the uterus might rip apart, forcing the foetus into the abdominal area. Due to its severity, this condition can be fatal for both you and your child. The risk factors involved in the case of a uterine rupture include previous surgical procedures done on the uterus, such as caesarean sections.
7. Premature Labour
Bleeding during the 9th month of pregnancy could be due to early labour, which might occur due to the stretching and tearing of the cervix while trying to dilate. In case of premature labour, you may observe some vaginal mucous in the blood, indicating that your baby is ready to be born.

Fleshy, bloody emission from the vagina

Methods to Diagnose the Causes of Bleeding in Late Pregnancy
There are two main methods to diagnose the causes of bleeding in the later stages of pregnancy. They are:
1. Reviewing Your Medical History:
First off, your doctor will review your medical history to check whether you’ve had any infections or congenital disorders like haemophilia, and also, to check whether you’ve consumed tobacco or not. He might also ask you questions about any symptoms you might be experiencing, as well as their severity and frequency. You will also have to inform him about your previous pregnancies, miscarriages, placenta previa, placental ruptures, abortions or C-sections.
2. Conducting a Physical Exam:
Firstly, your doctor will check your blood pressure. Your cervix and vagina will be examined for any soreness or injuries, including a qualitative and quantitative measurement of pelvic cramp pain. A microbiological examination of your vaginal tract will also be done to rule out the possibility of any infections. In the third trimester of your pregnancy, an abdominal ultrasound scan will be performed to test for placental problems like placenta previa or abruption. Bleeding in late pregnancy might require round-the-clock monitoring for sepsis, anaemia, and foetal stress. Blood transfusions might also be required if there is heavy and consistent blood loss. Although you may prefer a vaginal birth, your doctor will insist on a caesarean surgery as the likelihood of bleeding due to uterine rupture will be decreased. If you are yet to reach the 36th week of pregnancy, you might have to undergo premature labour. In this case, your doctor will prescribe steroidal medication to hasten the development of your baby’s lungs, so that he can learn to breathe outside the womb. In some cases, the uterus may have to be removed via a hysterectomy; although the damaged uterus can be surgically fixed in some cases.
Follow Up After Your Treatment
Your doctor will ask you to take bed rest until delivery. Douching, using tampons, and having sex will not be recommended if the bleeding doesn’t stop. If you still experience symptoms such as recurrent bleeding and abdominal pain for a few days after being treated, contact your gynaecologist again.
Self-Care Tips to Try at Home
Bleeding during early pregnancy requires you to take it easy, avoid intense exercises, and stay hydrated. However, if you bleed in the third trimester, taking care of yourself at home or trying out different remedies won’t help. It may result in serious complications and hence, it is suggested that you contact your doctor immediately.
Preventive Measures You Can Take
Bleeding during pregnancy can be prevented by –
Stopping the consumption of tobacco, as it increases the risk of placenta previa.
Regulating your blood pressure by avoiding salty foods, as eating salty foods canlead to placental detachment.
Taking good care of yourself to avoid physical trauma as it could rupture the uterine wall.
Bleeding in any trimester of pregnancy might have complications, so don’t hesitate to consult your doctor if you observe vaginal bleeding or spotting. Also, seeking medical help for bleeding in late pregnancy is non-negotiable. With timely care and support, there is no reason why you should not have a perfect and successful pregnancy.

Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a non-stick pan. Once the ghee is hot, sauté the oats until they turn light brown in colour.
Transfer the oats to a bowl and pour 2-3 tbsp of ghee in the same pan.
Add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped onions, and ginger and sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
Add all the vegetables and cook them. Don't add tomatoes.
Once they are almost cooked, add the tomatoes and a little salt.
Then add the turmeric powder and chilli powder, and give it a nice stir.
Add 2 cups of hot water in it then add the oats.
Stir it a bit, put a lid and let it cook for 4-5 minutes on a low flame.
Once cooked, turn off the flame and garnish it with the coriander leaves.
2. Dalia
Dalia is basically broken wheat and it is one of the best Indian breakfasts for weight loss. Since it is a good source of fibre and protein, it can keep you full for longer and prevent you from eating more. Eating dalia can also help in increasing your metabolic rate.
What You Need
Dalia - ½ cup
Moong dal - 1/4th cup
Ginger (finely minced) - 1 tbsp
Carrots (diced) - 2 tbsp
Green peas - 1/4th cup
French beans (chopped) - 2-3 tbsp
Onion (chopped) - 1/4th cup
A tomato (chopped) - 1/4th cup
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

Wash and soak the dalia in water for half an hour.
Wash the moong dal and soak it in water.
Heat some ghee in a pressure cooker; once the ghee is hot, add the cumin seeds, bay leaf, and dried red chilli to it.
Then add the chopped onions and ginger, and sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
Then add the vegetables one by one.
Mix the vegetables well then add the turmeric powder and chopped tomatoes.
Strain the water from the dal and dalia.
Add both to the pressure cooker and add 1 ½ cup of hot water.
Add salt and let it cook for three whistles.
3. Paneer Paratha
Surprised to know that paneer parathas help in weight loss? This is because paneer is low on sugar and cholesterol and rich in calcium and protein. Paneer helps in keeping the stomach full for a longer period, therefore, curbing your chances of eating unhealthy foods.
What You Need
Multigrain flour - 1 cup
Paneer (grated) - 1 cup
Onion (diced) - 1/4th cup
Green chilli (finely chopped) - 1-2 tbsp
Ginger (finely minced) - 1-2 tbsp
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Coriander leaves (finely chopped) - 2-3 tbsp
Salt to taste
Ghee - 4-5 tbsp
Water as required
How to Make
Take the multigrain flour in a large bowl and add water to it to knead a dough. Keep it aside.
In another bowl, mix the paneer, chopped onions, chilli, chilli powder, ginger, coriander leaves, and salt.
Take a small ball from the dough, make a depression in the middle, and keep some paneer filling on it.
Seal it and roll it out.
Place the rolled out paratha on a hot tawa.
Cook the paratha from one side then flip it and add some ghee on top. Let it cook from the other side.
Let it cook well from both the sides on a low flame until golden brown.
4. Ragi Dosa
South Indian cuisine has several weight loss breakfast recipes for vegetarians out of which the ragi dosa is one of the best. Ragi is a healthy grain. It is low on the glycemic index and rich in calcium and protein.
What You Need
Ragi grains - 1 cup
Urad dal - 1/4th cup
An onion cut into half
Salt to taste
Ghee
How to Make
Soak ragi and urad dal in two separate vessels overnight.
In the morning, grind both of them separately.
Mix them in a bowl and some salt to it.
Let it ferment for 6-8 hours.
Heat a non-stick tawa and pour a teaspoon of ghee on it, and spread it with the onion.
Take some batter, pour it on the hot tawa and spread it evenly all over.
Lower the flame and let it cook.
After sometime flip it to the other side and cook it.
Serve it with tomato and green chilli chutney.
5. Egg Bhurji
Egg bhurji is one of the healthiest breakfast options. It can be eaten as an accompaniment with chapati, paratha, or bread. For weight loss, make egg bhurji with only the white of egg and ghee instead of the usual vegetable oil.
What You Need
Egg whites - 2
Onion (diced) - 1/4th cup
Green chilli (chopped) - 1 tbsp
Capsicum (diced) - 2-3 tbsp
Carrots (diced): 2-3 tbsp
Tomatoes (diced) - 1/4th cup
Ginger (finely minced) - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves (finely chopped) - 2-3 tbsp
Garam masala powder - 1/4th tsp
Salt to taste
Ghee for frying
How to Make
Heat 2-3 tbsp of ghee in a non-stick tawa.
Once the ghee is hot, add the chopped onions, green chilli, and ginger.
Once the onions turn golden brown, add the vegetables and fry them for 2-3 minutes on low flame.
Whisk the egg whites and add them to the fried vegetables.
Add the salt and garam masala powder to it and scramble the eggs.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
So, there are some of the healthy breakfast options that you can include in your weight loss diet plan. Losing weight can seem tough, but by eating healthy foods and exercising daily, it won't seem that hard.

So medically there are valid reasons for why one should do a family planning at the young age.But practically in today's world it is not always possible.Today's generation is career oriented. We invest time on our education and profession then get married once we are financially sound enough. After marriage we want to enjoy the marital life with our partner.
And then comes the big decision of "Family Planning. Now some couples would go for it only due to family pressures especially if it's an arranged marriage. Few people believe in enjoying those initial glorious years of marriage and then plan a baby. Some people get jealous of other couples of similar age who have planned a baby and they also decide to have one.
But personally I feel that it's not about anyone else but only the couple who can decide whether to have a baby or not. I mean both the individuals should be physically, mentally,emotionally and financially prepared to plan a family. Yes, personal conviction to become a parent is very important. If any of the partner is not prepared completely the other needs to give them time and have patience. Never force your partner for this big decision. There is no race going on for a family planning. And no one has any rights to judge your family planning decision. It's all about you and your partner. Both of your decisions matter nothing else.
With baby comes the financial burden of pregnancy scans, gynac visits, birthing expenses, baby shower,etc before the baby is born. Nowadays maternity shoots have become a popular choice amongst alot of expecting parents.Also after the baby is born there is a series of vaccinations, pediatrition visits, Naming ceremony, Newborn shoot, Birthday,etc.All these additional expenses needs to be considered while planning a baby.
Couples who are completely ready on above mentioned parameters stand a high chance to become successful parents.
So there is no hurry. Your child deserves your complete dedication. Even if you have 1% doubt I suggest to hold on and give yourself some time. Parenthood is a beautiful process and each of the parent deserves to enjoy his amazing journey.

Raising the Need to Learn Parenting and Understanding Attachment Parenting
The term 'parenting' turned out to be a complex term when the advice on parenting came from all corners. From uncles and aunties in my friends' circle to the ones in our neighbourhood, or for that matter, the unknown faces I met in the park - literally everyone has parenting advice! So I was loaded with tons of advice and at a point, I questioned if I could be a good parent. Then I flushed out all the free advice and began to hear my inner sense.
Raised by a stay-at-home parent and being a single child, I am lucky to have gotten the best attachment with my parents through their love, restrictions, and life lessons. I was sure to do intensive mothering and nurture my baby with the same attachment that I still have.
I risked my career, quit my job, and chose Dev as a priority as I know I can give the best only when he is the only person of concern to me. I could restart my career in the future (not as easy as it sounds though), but it is in the initial days of Dev that we both needed to bond, and if lost, I can never dream of my baby being unattached with me.
Here are few things I have been following as a part of attachment parenting:
Birth Bonding - Parthu and I sang songs as we walked in the evenings, my mom narrated my childhood stories, and my dad shared every happening around us. This way, I had my baby bonding well with me and my family.
Breastfeeding - I am exclusively breastfeeding, and there is no moment when I had felt exhausted about it. I am there for Dev whenever he demands, be it 2 am or even when it requires a whole sleepless night. I had bad days too when my supply ran low, yet I didn't give up.
Babywearing - Keeping Dev close to me whenever possible is making both of us more attached.
Bedding Close to the Baby - Co-sleeping has reduced my anxiety and I believe Dev feels safe in my arms rather than being in a crib.
Belief in the Language Value of the Baby's Cry - I respond sensitively to learn the reason for his crying, as I know he is trying to communicate his needs.
Beware of Baby Trainers - I don't believe in scheduling Dev's activities and let him decide in his own way for I can't decide when he should be hungry or when he should be playing.
Balance - Happy mom = happy child.

We had been planning to start our family for a few months, and after many negatives (urine pregnancy tests) I was overwhelmed to find a positive one. I couldn’t believe my eyes so did another test, and it was positive too. It was the best day for me.
Then came the hard part. Morning sickness, no, it was 24-hour sickness and vomiting. They said it should go away after the first trimester, but it was my companion in all the nine months. In the later months, it was accompanied by a migraine which could only be relieved by vomiting. From being a happy, friendly and fun loving woman, I stopped my job and preferred staying at home all day. Even car rides made me vomit. Not only, did I not like going out but I did not like people coming home to meet
me too. I wanted to stay alone. And everyone said why you are depressed; it was a planned pregnancy. Yes, I wanted it. But my dear family and friends, though it was very much what I wanted and I was happy to conceive I was still under pregnancy depression. It is then I realised that depression is not with what you have and what desires are fulfilled, but it is to do with hormones in the body. The day I delivered my baby, I was back to my old self with a bang. Thankfully postpartum depression did not get to me but trust me that is very common too. I openly discuss with family and friends as when I was in distress and realised that many of my friends were in the same phase but never disclosed to anyone as they knew they would not
be understood. The most common response is that " oh! She has everything in life then why is she depressed. We are struggling but still happy."
We need to understand depression is not about having things in life. It is a medical disorder, and it needs family and friends support and doctors help. I am a doctor, but it took my depression to realise this. Be supportive friends.

A. it is very faint line better you get beta hCG test ok. if there is no relief it is better you see your doctor for proper examination particularly physical examination if there is need for doing investigations to find out the problem and treatment ok

ur baby is 15 month okd, give all family food in roughly mashed form, include seasonal fruits n veggies.

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much and please have coconut water on daily basis and also have more green leaves vegetables fruits and dairy products in diet and also home made food. Also go on regular check ups. Also be happy and stress free .
