What is Best Time of the Day to Get Pregnant - Morning, Afternoon or Night?
From tracking ovulation to taking the right supplements, conceiving can be a tricky process. But, does the time of conception bear any relevance during this entire process? We know that there is a fertility window between your last period to the next, where you are at peak fertility. This three to five day window is the ovulation period when the chances of getting pregnant are high. Now let’s find out if the best time to conceive is in the morning or at night.
What is the Best Time of the Day to Conceive?
A study found that getting intimate in the morning, precisely before 7.30 a.m will increase your chances of getting pregnant. The semen quality at this time is much higher than during the rest of the day. This was found to be true especially in the spring months of March, April, and May.
However, a team at the University of Modena found that men’s sperm motility and quantity are at their highest during late afternoon hours. If you were also to consider that most women ovulate in the time leading to midnight, you have the best time of day for intercourse to get pregnant.
With testosterone levels in men increasing substantially between 6 am to 9 am, and libido at its peak between 10 pm to 1 am, you have several windows to choose from to try and get pregnant.
As it may be hard to keep track of your ovulation window if your periods are irregular, it is ideal to get cosy with your partner every alternate day or every day, to increase your chances of getting pregnant. Remember, semen thrives in a healthy body, so you will need to quit smoking and drinking, and consume healthy food items if you intend to get pregnant. More importantly, remember to have fun and not turn it into a routine.

Is Eating Biscuits during Pregnancy Safe?
Craving for snacks and tasty treats is not uncommon during pregnancy and biscuits too often make their way into your grocery list. Generally speaking, biscuits are a favourite when it comes to satisfying hunger pangs. However, not every biscuit type may be safe to snack on while you are pregnant as your baby’s health may be at risk due to its consumption. Since the health of your unborn baby is at stake, it is best to verify facts before snacking on biscuits. You can prepare a mental checklist of which pregnancy biscuits are good or bad for you.
Types of Biscuits You Can Eat when Pregnant
In order to confirm if the quality of biscuits and its ingredients are safe for you to eat, you will have to check and double-check every time you buy them. To make things simpler for you, here are a few types that can be trusted with your baby’s health and yours too:
1. Flavoured Biscuits
Pregnant women love to pop in biscuits with lemon or ginger extracts in them. These flavours help in fighting pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness and nausea. When consumed in moderation, these flavoured biscuits prove to be quite helpful.
2. Digestive Biscuits
Biscuits that are made from whole wheat or whole grain can be useful during pregnancy due to their high dietary fibre content. Most pregnant women suffer from constipation. Digestive biscuits can help in addressing issues related to constipation and bowel movement. Once again, they should also be consumed in moderation.
3. Nutritional Biscuits
Biscuits containing supplementary nutrients like calcium, proteins and magnesium are useful in countering dietary insufficiencies if any. Protein biscuits during pregnancy can help in meeting the dietary needs of your growing baby too.
Types of Biscuits to Avoid While Pregnant
There are a few types of biscuits that should be completely avoided during pregnancy as they could give rise to health issues. Read on to know more about them.
1. Sugar and Cream Biscuits
Although sugar and cream biscuits are extremely delicious, they have high quantities of cream or sugar, which should be avoided during pregnancy. These biscuits will not only cause quick and unwanted weight gain, but you will also find it difficult to lose all that weight after delivering your baby. Gestational diabetes is also a possibility if you consume too much sugar during this period. Check the labels for gluten-free biscuits if you are suffering from a gluten allergy. Commercially made biscuits often contain a high amount of gluten which can cause an allergic reaction in your body and affect the baby too.
2. Gram Flour Biscuits
One of the most common causes of gas or flatulence during pregnancy is the consumption chana (gram flour). So, even if they come in the form of biscuits, you should avoid them completely. Gram flour is also known to lead to heartburn in pregnant women, and therefore, you are better off away from these biscuits.
Recommended Biscuit Intake During Pregnancy
Like all other food and snacks, you should ensure that biscuits too are consumed in moderation. Check with your doctor about the number of biscuits that are safe to be eaten during the day. However, under normal circumstances, and if you do not have health complications, you may eat 2 to 3 biscuits (or less) a day if you have a sweet tooth.
Things to Check Before Buying Biscuits During Pregnancy
The first and foremost thing you must do before buying a packet of biscuits is to check the cover for the list of ingredients. If you already are in the habit of checking labels on everything you buy at the grocer, then this should help you in good stead during pregnancy. The quantity-wise list of ingredients mentioned at the back of every packet of biscuits states the percentage of ingredients used to make the biscuits. If items like wheat flour, artificial sugars or hydrogenated oils are mentioned at the top of this list, it should ring alarm bells instantly.
Hydrogenated oils are artificially produced, and coupled with trans fats, are known to cause cardiovascular diseases. Reading labels is a good habit and gives us a clear idea of all the ingredients that have gone in the making of the biscuits.
In case you still crave biscuits, you may want to try this recipe and make a batch just for yourself. Baking your own biscuits is a great way to control which ingredients enter your system and also ensure you use them in the right quantity.
Healthy Biscuit Recipe for Pregnant Women
Ingredients:
5 cups of muesli (untoasted)
1/2 cup of whole wheat flour

A pinch of salt
Method:

Add the egg and mix well.
Make round balls of the biscuit mixture and flatten them before placing them on a baking tray lined with butter paper.
Bake the biscuits in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees Celcius for 15 minutes.
Remember that pregnancy is a delicate phase and choosing your food wisely is the key to safe and healthy pregnancy. Biscuits can satisfy your hunger pangs if consumed sensibly and also help meet your dietary needs in certain cases.

Picking Toys and Books for School Kids
All kids are not the same and their individual personalities begin to show up when they start going to school. While choosing toys and books for a school-age kid, parents should know his likes and dislikes; and choose accordingly.
When children start going to school, they start learning numbers, letters and language skills. A lot of toys, games and books, ranging from simple puzzles to high-tech electronic gadgets, encourage this type of learning. If children enjoy practicing the things that they learn at school, it increases their capacity to retain whatever they learn.
This is why it is important to pick the right toy or book for a school going child. However, finding appropriate toys and books for your school going kid requires an understanding of the play ideas that will suit his age so that he is able to enjoy and learn from them. What is more important is that the parents take out time to indulge in the play activity with their school going kids. They can bond over an interesting game or story in a book. During this engagement, the child learns and parents understand about his likes or dislikes.
Types of Toys and Books for Your Kid
1. Science Toys and Books
Toys that help in bringing out the little scientist in your kid include: magnifying glasses, kaleidoscope, periscope, telescope, microscope, a garden kit, anatomy kit or a magnet kit. Children love to play with these toys, reinforcing the knowledge they learn from school.
2. Video Games and Computer
Computers have several educational games that teach maths, reading and language skills to your child. There are also role-playing games that count strength levels, points or money, helping in developing maths skills. Strategy games improve your child’s ability to think and solve a problem, and the ability to work towards a goal. Other racing and action games help in improving hand-eye coordination.
3. Board Games and Strategy Toys
School going children are able to understand things better, and hence, enjoy playing games with rules with their friends and family. This helps in improving their social skills. There are many board games that require a lot of logical thinking and strategizing. These games improve your child’s maths skills, memory, spelling and also reading skills.
Some good board games might include:
Scrabble
Chess
Pictionary
Monopoly
Scrabble
Othello
Checkers and Chinese checkers
Dominoes
Snakes and ladders
Pick-up sticks
Bingo
4. Brain Teasers and Puzzle Games
Playing games like puzzles and brain teasers help in improving a child’s hand-eye coordination, visual perception, problem solving skills and patience.
5. Creative Toys and Art Books
These help to enhance your child’s creativity and bring out their talent. They refine your child’s ability to communicate their feelings and ideas visually.
6. Sports
Children require physical activity for better health. Sports also develop intelligence in your kids. Most popular ones include tennis, basketball, bikes, baseball, etc.
7. Musical Instrument
School age children should be encouraged to learn to play musical instruments according to their interests like a keyboard, guitar, drums or a karaoke. This way they can discover their musical talents.
School going children require complex games and toys that stimulate their intelligence and enhance the skills they learn at school. So the next time you are out shopping for your little one, make sure the toys or games are not just fun but educational too. Read more

How Stress during Pregnancy Causes Miscarriage
Stress is simply our body’s natural response to danger or threat. Stress in small measures may not be all that bad as it can motivate us to perform our best. However, a state of constant stress or high levels of stress can give rise to several health issues. Pregnancy which brings about many physical and emotional changes in a woman’s life can also trigger certain concerns and apprehensions regarding the well-being of the child and the impending subsequent lifestyle changes. Most pregnant women may wonder if stress can cause miscarriage in the first trimester of their pregnancy?
Many studies indicate that women who are constantly stressed or experience greater amounts of stress may be at a higher risk of a miscarriage particularly at the time of conception and during the initial days of their pregnancy. Scientists believe that stress may start a chain reaction in a woman’s body during which certain chemicals are produced that negatively impact the growing foetus. This theory can probably explain why some women experience a miscarriage despite no clear medical reason.
Constant stress or increased levels of stress when pregnant can lead to possible pregnancy complications. However, no conclusive evidence is available which can prove that stress during pregnancy results in a miscarriage. Nevertheless, women should take care to avoid taking stress while pregnant to prevent needless complications.
Can Stress Cause a Miscarriage?
Miscarriage due to stress - is it a myth or a fact? The answer to this question is not simple. Several studies have established a connection between elevated stress levels during pregnancy and increased risk of a miscarriage. But the results of these studies are non-conclusive mostly because it is difficult to assess stress as a reason for pregnancy loss. Moreover, every individual may handle stress differently. Some people tend to worry a lot more than others. What may seem like a trivial irritation to one individual can prompt a nervous failure in another.
It is normal to stress during pregnancy. But it seems highly unlikely that normal stress can result in a miscarriage. However, it is possible that augmented stress and anxiety during pregnancy can lead to pregnancy loss. In any case, greater stress levels during pregnancy are not desirable as it can result in pregnancy complications. So, it is crucial to address stress issues and practice stress management when pregnant to improve your chances of a smooth pregnancy.
Chronic Stress and Loss of Pregnancy
According to a scientific study when a person is under great stress the brain releases several hormones including a hormone called CRH (corticotrophin-releasing hormone). CRH may also get produced during labour to set off uterine contractions. But during chronic stress, the hormone CRH may attack the mast cells present in the uterus causing them to emit chemicals that can trigger a miscarriage. The study found higher levels of CRH in women who had suffered multiple miscarriages in comparison to women who had experienced miscarriage once. The study also revealed that the hormone CRH is locally produced in a woman’s uterus and not in her bloodstream. But despite such studies, the notion that stress can cause miscarriage cannot be stated with conviction.
Tips to Keep Stress Away during Pregnancy
First and foremost, it is vital to recognize the cause of your stress. Try and analyse whether the reason for your stress is financial or is it because you are concerned about the welfare of your pregnancy or how will you manage things after pregnancy. Whatever may be the reason, it is important to keep that stress away during pregnancy. So, here are some tips for your help:
Practice deep breathing or belly breathing during pregnancy to lower the stress levels.
You can try cognitive reframing wherein the mind may be consciously trained to perceive probable stressful situations in a rather positive light.
Don’t shy from seeking emotional support during pregnancy. Sharing or talking about your concerns and problems with your family or friends may help you see things in the right perspective and can bring some relief.
Learn to take things easy during pregnancy. Avoid taking on too much work upon yourself and do ask others to lend a helping hand to you whenever required.
Ensure that you get adequate rest and sleep. Taking frequent breaks will prevent you from over-straining yourself.
In case you are a working woman and your work is the basis of your stress, talk to your boss regarding reducing your workload and flexible work timings. You may also discuss comfortable working conditions to cater to your bodily changes with the advancement of your pregnancy.
Soothing massages, relaxing spas, reflexology, meditation, yoga or even listening to soothing music when pregnant can help in easing out the stress.
You can also consider availing psychological therapy sessions with a professional counsellor to learn to manage your stress levels while pregnant.
It may not be possible to avoid stress completely during pregnancy, neither is it possible to conclude with certainty that stress can cause a miscarriage. But it is always desirable that you learn to manage your stress in a way that it doesn’t hamper your well being when pregnant.

4 Parenting Lessons By SRK That Are Giving Us Major Parenting Goals!
He is always in the news – for his films, his public appearances, his stage shows…but did you also know that SRK is an extremely loving and affectionate Daddy? In fact, some of the parenting principles we have observed him using over time are so sweet that we couldn’t help but share them with you!
Daddies play a very important role in their kids’ lives. They are the ones the little ones look up to, the role models, the superheroes, the cars on whose backs they ride. This is why it is critical that as a parent, your behaviour reflects what you’d like your children to grow up and emulate. Shahrukh Khan, all his stardom notwithstanding, is a regular Dad in real life. Who’s a regular Dad? Someone who plays with the kids, is their best friend, always protects them, and is forever up to a game as messy for Mamma as possible!
Here are the parenting lessons we loved best. They are great lessons to imbibe not just in your life as a parent but in all your relationships.
Let Your Kids Choose The Important Things In Life
We make a lot of choices for our kids – their clothes, their crib, their toys, the books they read…While all of this is certainly important and up to us to decide, there are some things in life that need to be left to your children. Even though it may seem to you that they are too little or too immature to make such grown up choices, trust us, they will love you for it.
SRK has never imposed a choice of religion on his kids. At home, he keeps idols of Hindu Gods next to the Quran. His love for Gauri, and acceptance for the ways of the world, has made him a person who wants his kids to decide for their own. This is probably why he named his youngest son AbRam – a combination of the names of Prophet Abraham and Lord Ram. Needless to say, little AbRam already seems to be growing up into a lively young man, thanks to the blessings of the Gods!
Be Their Best Friend (the kind who also scold their friends when they’re wrong!)
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Source: https://www.khaama.com/[/caption]
We are often advised to be parents first, friends later. It doesn’t do to be too tolerant of our kids’ misbehaviour or give them more freedom than they can handle. While this is definitely valid, being a friend has its own set of perks. SRK is the kind of friend who has no qualms about telling his friends off when they are wrong! He is the friend who is great fun, participating in all the activities his kids love best. But he is also the pal who knows where to draw the line and make sure life is balanced.
“I love my children not because they are my children, but because I have garnered a friendship with them. I am realising this… as they are getting older, they are my greatest friends.”
We say, wthis eternal sense of warmth and security is definitely the biggest motivation for cultivating such a friendship, right parents?
Give Your Kids a Gift Every Day – the Gift of Time
Our lives are chaotic – to say the least. There are a million things to do every day and seemingly no time. In families where both spouses work, giving children time is even more difficult. We end up equating time to expensive gifts, instead. But unlike time, gifts don’t have the power to create lasting memories of togetherness. This is why SRK makes it a point to never miss the important moments in his children’s lives.
“Make time to be with your little ones. Presentations will come and go, but your baby’s childhood will never return.”
So, right from his daughter Suhana’s first bike ride to taekwondo tournaments, family vacations to graduation ceremonies, SRK is always there for his kids. Whenever they look in the crowd, or behind them when times are difficult, he is always there in sight.
Always Have Their Back (and make sure they know that you do!)
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Source: dnaindia.com[/caption]
Our kids need to become independent, right? They have to stand up for themselves, fight their own battles. But hey, they are your kids first and foremost. Just as they needed you when they were a baby and had no means of expression but crying, they still are children. They need to know that you are there for them and that they are never alone in sorrow. This is why SRK does whatever he can to keep his children safe. He tries and shields his youngest from the media glare. He makes sure his son Aryan is happy in his school in London. And recently, when the internet was full of Suhana’s vacation pictures, he spoke out against it and said how it made him uncomfortable.
“I don’t want him to be a participant in this circus of public life that I am a part of. That is what I do… Public life… The good, bad, ugly, goodness of media, the strangeness… I am part of it, not my children.”
No matter what problems crop up in our life, we want our kids to be away from it all, right? It is harder for celebrities because they have the persistent limelight to tackle. But for his kids, SRK is always ready to fight.
They say love makes the world go around. Love helps us grow up to be happy, well-rounded individuals who can take on any challenges. We must say SRK is doing a fine job of keeping his family snug and safe, even in the mad world we live in. Here’s to you, King Khan! Read more

Kids need Attention and Time of Parents To Grow and Bloom
Time together is what makes people feel most loved especially with the kids. In this period of uncertain lockdown when we the working mothers are struggling between the home, job work, the innocent kids are also locked down within the four walls of a house with no outdoor activities.
So its our responsibility to balance the household chores, job, along with keeping the kids engage in different activities like reading and writting, art and craft, story telling, different innovative games, small projects.
The task is not easy to keep them busy and enthralled them with curiosity, enthusiasm and passion.
Me, a moma of 3 yr old twins, a boy and a girl try to follow some routine activities to keep them engaged.
*10 mins simple basic exercise and 5 mins chanting of Jain Shloks.
Exercise to keep them fit and Shloks for Meditation and to make them know the chores of their religion.
* Story telling which all the kidos generally love, Aarav and Aahana also loves it.
* Drawing to paint the colours of their choice in the books and sometimes when I get busy in other things, I can see the rainbow of colours in the walls and in the tiles also.
* Playing with kids is of utmost important. Play and learn makes the things easy for us and kids also. Cricket, Building blocks, playing with cars, memory games, and other toys. Moreover they love to play with the kitchen utensils like bowls, plates and spoons.
*Art and craft work where they draw, cut, paste and get amused.
*Culinary activities where they cut, peel, make juice, bread-butter, jam- bread and other simple but different activities in kitchen with the help of their mumma.
* Alexa play this song, Alexa play that song and had to groove along with them to different dance numbers. A good workout with the kidos.
*Ludo, Carrom, cards, hide & seek to play and become kid with kidos.
*In this digital era mobile phones attract the kidos. We cannot keep them away from the charisma of phones. So in a day for half an hr they watch poems, cartoons, stories in phone.
We have to keep in mind the digital era also and should come up with the effective way to enhance the growth of kids. The micro moments of positivity, kind words, compassion, play and learn activates the Seeking System and makes the child more happy and healthy.
The Kids are born with sharp and smart minds. Their grabbing power is much more than we can imagine. They learn from the actions and perceive it gradually from what we speak. The kidos just need the full time attention of parents. The childhood once gone will not come again and we as a parent are lucky to cherish each and every precious moments with them. So love, live, and enjoy every moment with kids and make them memorable for future. Read more
