Water Cycle Explanation for Kids - Process and Fun Facts
The water cycle is an environmental phenomenon that consists of three processes, evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. Kids are taught about the water cycle phenomenon in school. But if your kid is inquisitive and asks you different questions about water cycle or different forms of water, we have all the information you need to explain him in the simplest way possible. So, get familiar with the topic and explain your child.
What is the Water Cycle?
The water from the various water bodies on the earth gets evaporated because of the Sun’s heat. The water in the form of vapours then cools down at a certain height and condenses to form clouds. The water keeps condensing to form clouds, but when too much water gets accumulated, the clouds become heavy and then the water falls from the sky in the form of rain, snow, or hail. The water then gets collected in oceans, lakes, or ponds. In due course, this water again gets evaporated initiating the whole cycle over and over.
What are the Steps Involved in Water Cycle?
The water cycle process for kids can be explained in a way that will enjoy learning about it. The water cycle explanation for kids can be done using colourful illustrations which may help them grasp the concept better. The water cycle involves the following steps:
1. Evaporation
In this process, the heat from the Sun causes the water present on the Earth (seas, oceans, rivers, ponds and lakes) to evaporate in the form of vapours and rise up to the sky. The water vapours then accumulate to form clouds.
2. Condensation
When these water vapours cool down sufficiently, they turn into the liquid state again. The procedure of converting from a gaseous form into liquid is called condensation.
3. Precipitation
Precipitation takes place when water vapours condense to turn into tiny water drops, which falls from the sky in the form of rain, sleet, snow, or hail.
4. Collection
The water falling from the sky due to precipitation gathers in different water bodies like oceans, seas, rivers, lakes and so on. The water then evaporates again and the cycle continues.
Other Interesting Facts About the Water Cycle
Some interesting facts about the water cycle for kids are as follows:
Plants also contribute to the process of evaporation by way of transpiration. Plants may release some water on to their leaves which gets evaporated owing to the Sun’s heat.
The combination of transpiration and evaporation is called evapotranspiration.
Sometimes water may convert directly into a gaseous state like water vapours from snow or ice without first melting into liquid. This process is called sublimation.
Evaporation affects only the water’s surface.
Hot water tends to evaporate faster than cold water.
Water trapped in ice caps and glaciers is the purest form of water available on the Earth.
Some of the groundwater may sooner or later makes its way to the oceans gathering salts and minerals during the journey thereby making the ocean water salty.
Global warming has impacted the water cycle causing wet places to become wetter and dry places drier.
About 97% of Earth’s water is salt water. So, 3% of the water on Earth is freshwater out of which 2% exists in the form of icecaps and glaciers. Thus only 1% of the Earth’s water is available for the living beings.
The process of the water cycle is reversible which means liquid changes to vapours and the vapours condense to form liquid again.
The water cycle is like a loop with no starting point nor an end.
Teaching the process of the water cycle to kids is important to make them understand the different environmental phenomenon. It may also make them realise the importance of saving water.

How Does Your Child Behave?
My child's version!
Have you ever thought about the version of your child? Yes, it sounds funny, but children have numerous versions, precisely like the ones of a software! We keep updating them like a software program, and only a mother can understand the version since she is the programmer.
My version is one that is difficult to understand. For the rest of the world, my child is a calm, cool kid who is so easy to handle, but reality differs. He is an entirely different person at home, somewhat like " Ghar ka Sher". He behaves nicely in front of the entire world, and once he's home, all he does is throws tantrums. He is so full of anger! A complete attention seeker. Yet, he is a fun-loving child who keeps on enjoying and never gets tired. Sleep is his biggest enemy since the day he was born. He asks me this one question every day - "Aaj hum log nahi soyenge na mumma". For him, sleeping is just a waste of time!
It's not like I have experienced just this one version. I have seen other mothers struggling with their version of kids too! Some are too naughty to handle in public, while others are over-smart and demanding. Every child is unique in his own way, and we mothers keep editing their version as per society norms. If I have a shy kid, I will teach him how to be expressive; if someone has a naughty child, his mother will teach him how to stay silent and polite.
The real question is 'WHY?'
Why are we trying to disturb the version that is made purely by God? Why do we expect our children to be someone they are not? Can't we appreciate them the way they are? Yes, it's okay to discipline them, but they will learn slowly and gradually. They have an entire life ahead to learn how to be "normal", but now is the time for them to be children. Every child is the same - born with a golden heart, unbiased, no politics, no judgement and no hatred.
And the funniest part is that the version of mothers is the same everywhere on the entire planet - over caring, overprotective, and always worried about the health of their children.
So what's your child's version?

A Guide To Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer(ZIFT) – Infertility Treatment
Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT) is a fertility treatment that may be offered to couples who require help conceiving through assisted reproductive technology (ART). Doctors may recommend this treatment in those cases, where the fallopian tubes are blocked, thereby preventing the fertilization of the sperm with the egg. This procedure, though not as popular as in vitro fertilization (IVF), is quite similar to it. The only difference being, in ZIFT, the eggs are first fertilized in a lab and then the fertilized embryo is directly implanted in the fallopian tubes and not the uterus. The fertilized eggs are known as zygotes. Zygotes are embryos that are single celled as they still haven’t started dividing into further cells. Zygote Intrafallopian transfer is also called “Tubal Embryo Transfer” (TET) as the fertilized egg is directly placed into the fallopian tubes. ZIFT is often compared to another fertility treatment named gamete Intrafallopian transfer (GIFT). Research opine that ZIFT may have a higher success rate than GIFT as doctors have better chances of making sure that the egg fertilizes during the ZIFT procedure.
What Is Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer?
Zygote Intrafallopian transfer is an assisted reproductive technology treatment. This process involves fertilization of the eggs with the sperm in the lab. After the fertilization, the egg is laparoscopically placed into one of the fallopian tubes. The fertilized egg then travels through the fallopian tubes to reach the uterus, where it may get implanted, leading to pregnancy. Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer is considered to be a very invasive procedure as it involves laparoscopic surgery, wherein, small incisions are made in the abdomen. Therefore, it may not be a preferred option with childless couples.
Who Is Treated With ZIFT?
Doctors may advise ZIFT, if other means of treatment have failed. A woman with healthy fallopian tubes or even with one open fallopian tube has more chances of conceiving through ZIFT process. Zygote intrafallopian transfer cannot be performed, if there is a significant damage to the tubes, blockage in the tubes or severe uterine impairment. This procedure may be recommended in cases where the sperm count of the man is low the woman has problems with ovulation. ZIFT may most effectively help women who are in their early 30’s or younger. The success rate of the treatment and its possible health risks to the expecting mother may raise with the increasing age of the woman. If the sperm count of the man is really low, ZIFT may be performed in combination with Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection(ICSI), a process which enhances the fertilization rate by directly inserting the egg with a single sperm.
ZIFT Procedure
The stepwise procedure of how is zift performed is as follows:
Stimulation of The Ovary: Doctors prescribe fertility medications to be taken at the start of the menstrual cycle. This is done so that ovaries get stimulated to release more mature eggs and to prevent them from producing the eggs prematurely.
Development of Follicle: Doctors will then constantly monitor the eggs and the development of follicle though ultrasounds. Blood hormone levels are also regularly checked.
Collecting The Eggs: On maturing, the eggs are collected by inserting a thin needle into the vaginal wall.
Fertilisation: The mature eggs are then combined with the husband’s sperm and fertilized in the lab. After a day or so, the successfully fertilized eggs develop into zygotes (one-celled embryo).
Surgery: The fertilized embryo or zygote is transferred directly to the fallopian tube. This entails a small surgery. The surgery involves making a small incision in the abdomen after administering anaesthesia to the patient. The doctor, by using a laparoscope, then places 1 to 5 zygotes in the fallopian tubes. Any additional zygotes may be frozen for later use.
Implantation: The zygote journeys down the fallopian tube to reach the uterus where it may get implanted and develop into a foetus.
Pregnancy Test: About two weeks after the surgery, the doctor may take a blood test to determine if the procedure has resulted into a successful pregnancy or not.
How Long Does Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer Take?
One procedural cycle of ZIFT, beginning with fertility drugs till the pregnancy test, may take about 4 to 6 weeks. This is because the eggs may take some time to mature. Thereafter, a day is required to collect and fertilize the eggs. Another visit becomes necessary to transfer the fertilized eggs into the fallopian tubes. The surgery is a small one and one may go home the very same day.
Success Rate Of ZIFT
The success rate of ZIFT largely depends on factors like the kind of fertility issue a couple has and also on the health and age of the couple, seeking the procedure. A woman in her early 30’s or even younger may generally produce healthier eggs and therefore, have greater rate of success. Studies have established the success rate of ZIFT process to be between 25% and 40%. This implies that about one in every three ZIFT treatments leads to positive pregnancy results.
Advantages
Certain advantages of ZIFT can be listed as follows:
ZIFT process seems more encouraging as the doctor gets to confirm the fertilization of the eggs before inserting them into the fallopian tubes.
ZIFT involves a more natural procedure as the embryo passes through the fallopian tubes to reach the uterus by itself.
According to new research, there is no possible link between fertility medications and cancer.
Disadvantages
On the other hand, ZIFT has a few disadvantages as well. They are as follows:
ZIFT is an invasive procedure as it involves a small surgery.
ZIFT process may lead to multiple pregnancies or births which can pose greater complications during pregnancy like premature birth, miscarriage or decisions to be made regarding partial abortion, keeping in mind the best interest of the mother’s health.
ZIFT procedure is an expensive treatment as it entails costly fertility medications, surgery, lab tests and ultrasounds.
ZIFT requires the doctor to choose the best embryo from the multiple zygotes which implies discarding the remaining ones. Some couples are not comfortable with this selection process.
Similarities And Differences Between ZIFT And IVF
The similarities between ZIFT and IVF are:
ZIFT and IVF are artificial fertility treatments which may be offered to couples who not able to conceive naturally.
In both the methods, embryo culture is done.
Both the processes, empowers the doctor to choose the best embryos for implantation.
ZIFT procedure is often compared to IVF. The key differences between the two methods are:
In ZIFT, the fertilized egg placed in the fallopian tube from where it journeys to the uterus on its own and in IVF, the fertilized embryo is directly transferred to the uterus.
ZIFT requires a small invasive surgery whereas IVF doesn’t need any surgery.
Cost Of ZIFT
ZIFT procedure is a costlier treatment, when compared to IVF and GIFT. It may prove more expensive, depending on the nature of the fertility problem, the place where the couple resides and whether the insurance policy offers any aid to meet the cost of the treatment. The treatment may cost anything around 1.5 lakhs to 2 lakhs for each cycle of ZIFT.
ZIFT procedure offers childless couples a considerable chance of realising their dream of getting pregnant. It is always advisable to consult your doctor at length for proper guidance and knowledge about each aspect of the treatment before opting for it. Read more

A. Nasal blockage is very common, specially in small children because of the narrow nasal cavity. Any kind of saline drops like nasal clear will be helpful in dissolving the stuffy secretions, which can be taken out by vnasal aspirator gently also steam inhalation will be helpful also, try to avoid keeping the child directly under the fan.

A. A lot of times normal delivery is actually seen in these cases also if the doctor is quick and the child cooperate then yes normal delivery is very much possible but some doctors don’t take a chance with the health of your child and so they normally suggest C-section so let’s see what’s your situation by the end when you are into your labour
