Do You Have Veiny Hands? Check 7 Causes of Veins Popping Out
Many women suffer from the problem of veiny hands – a condition where the veins seem to bulge and are extremely prominent near the surface of the skin. This makes the hands look wobbly and old. It is a common belief that women get veiny hands as they grow older. However, the truth is, growing older is NOT the only reason behind visible veins in your hands!
From anti-ageing creams to moisturisation, you probably have a set beauty routine in place for your face. You need it too, after dealing with all the stress of taking care of your kids and managing your other tasks too! However, it’s not just your face but also your hands and feet that need extra attention! Not going the extra mile for your hands may result in stubborn, veiny hands and feet - something you may not be able to get rid of, despite all the manicures and pedicures you could splurge on!

Of course, the most common reason for your hands to look old with bulging veins is ageing. But what if your hands are veiny for a completely different reason? Ageing isn't the only reason behind veiny hands! Some of the reasons behind veiny hands are downright dangerous and need to be checked even if you have the smallest of indicators. After all, it’s your health we're talking about and you can never be too careful with it! So what should you watch out for if you have veiny hands? Read on and find out.
7 Reasons Why Your Veins Pop Out
1. Exercise
Yes! Exercise – the ultimate way to maintain beauty and fitness can, unfortunately, have some harsh effects on your delicate hands! Doing strength exercises can cause your arterial blood pressure to increase. This can cause your muscles to harden and push the veins to the surface of the skin, making your hands veiny.
What to do: No matter what its cosmetic effects, exercise (when done in the right way and in right amounts) is completely healthy. You should worry and contact the doctor only if the veins are painful or swell up.
2. Ageing Skin
As mentioned above, your skin needs extra care as it ages and this includes taking care of your hands. However, if you had disregarded your hands completely in your younger days, then you might see veiny hands despite care routines you may have adopted as you've grown older, as you missed out on caring for your hands before they showed signs of ageing.
What to do: Don't worry, it's really never too late! Continue to care for your hands and you are bound to see a positive difference! A few basic steps like moisturising and scrubbing can help you get younger-looking hands in no time, when done regularly.
3. Genetics
An unavoidable cause of veiny hands may lie in your genes! Genetics play a major role in determining how we look, what diseases we are at risk for and so much more – and include veiny hands as well. If your relatives (e.g. mom, dad, siblings, etc. ) have veiny hands, there's a high chance you already have or are going to have veiny hands too.
What to do: If this is the reason you have veiny hands, there's nothing to be anxious about! However, if you want to resolve your problem regarding your veiny hands, you can opt for laser treatments or fat-filling procedures as well.
4. Cardiovascular Diseases and Disorders
Of the lot, the scariest cause behind veiny hands is the presence of cardiovascular diseases or blood-clotting disorders (problems in the heart or cardiovascular system). These problems can result in varicose veins (enlarged, twisted and spiderweb-like veins that can be painful) which can appear on the hands and legs as well! This is due to the fact that the veins weaken due to over-stretching.
What to do: If you notice varicose veins on your body – especially on your legs, it's best to consult a doctor for further diagnosis and treatment.
5. Low Body Fat Percentage
If you have a low body fat percentage, the amount of fat under the skin would be quite less. This makes the veins appear closer to the skin and results in veiny hands. The ideal body fat percentage doesn't give the hands an unhealthy look, even if your veins are visible.
What to do: If you feel your body fat percentage is below the ideal requirement, then consult a nutritionist to design a diet plan that will help you gain body fat.
6. Pregnancy
Due to an increase in blood and nutrient supply to nourish the baby in your womb, the blood flow in your veins will be up by 20 to 40 per cent during pregnancy! As a result, not only will you see veiny hands, you will also see visible varicose veins in your breasts, abdomen and feet!
What to do: You don't need to worry about this. The veins will eventually go back to normal after you give birth.

7. Weight Loss
When you start losing weight, the fat layer under your skin starts to melt away and your veins become more visible. This can result in veins popping out from your hands.
What to do: You don't have to panic about this, as it is a normal part of the weight loss process. Consult the doctor only if the veins get painful or swollen.
To correct the appearance of your veiny hands for cosmetic purposes, you can look into a procedure known as sclerotherapy, which is used to treat spider or varicose veins. It's a treatment in which a solution is injected into a protruding vein, causing it to scar, then rerouting the blood through healthier veins. The collapsed vein then gets absorbed into local tissue. The procedure does come with certain risks and side-effects, in order to prepare for which you'll need to provide your doctor with all your medical information.
Now that you know the different reasons behind your veiny hands, you can choose the way forward to deal with them! But remember, veiny hands are just a cosmetic issue (in most cases). So until and unless you feel that it's a serious indicator of a health issue, you don't have to worry much about them! Read more

Saga of the Rash - Not-so-rare Cow Milk Protein Allergy Decoded
So the dreaded rash - Mr R chose Baby A’s bum as his new abode.
Not a big deal, right? Mr R visits almost every tot. I had read about it in several parenting blogs. To notify about Mr R’s entry, I phoned my ever-busy hubby who was out of the country. Like a good father, he did some research and told me to get a "Sudocrem". Tada! "Sudocrem" worked its magic and Mr R sluggishly started making its way out rendering Baby A somewhat settled.
Then came the night - the night of howling, crying and sobbing accompanied by projectile vomiting and episodes of diarrhoea. Poor Baby A was terrified, as Mr R had now taken over her bum once again. The next morning, I fixed an appointment with the doctor. He told that my baby was colicky and scolded me for using too many diapers. This was far from actuality as I always gave a lot of diaper-free time to her. Nevertheless, I made up my mind to stop the use of diapers entirely. My modest dressing table that once bragged of Mac and Chanel, was now sporting antifungal ointments and diaper rash creams. Debugging began on Baby A’s bum; some with technical expertise and the others with “gharelu ilaaj”. But Mr R was adamant. He did not go away. I prayed, I chanted and even bribed Mr.R and offered him my own bum, but alas! Mr R was harsh and stubborn. He was brazenly multiplying like anything. Most of the doctors asked me to wait as the rash takes time to ebb.
Then one day, Baby A bawled repeatedly and turned blue. I grabbed her and took her to the doctor instantaneously. This time I was advised to stop my consumption of dairy. What doctor suspected now was 'Cow Milk Protein Allergy'.
None of the family members believed that Baby A could suffer from this allergy. They were hearing about this for the first time and in fact, encouraged me to have dairy, as I was exclusively breastfeeding.
Things started to deteriorate and Baby A whimpered profusely. She was gassy, suffered from diarrhoea and rashes, and was irritable to a great extent. I decided firmly that I would do an elimination diet as I was exclusively breastfeeding her. Kicking out Mr R became the sole purpose of my life. Mr R was undervaluing the power of a new mom. I was prepared to do anything to shoo him away.
The voyage of my dairy-free life started - it encompassed the non-consumption of butter, ghee, milk, cheese, curd, ice cream, reading of food labels carefully if they had any milk solids, switching to soy, cutting down on dinner dates and eating home cooked food.
It has been 7 months since I've stopped taking any dairy products and Mr R has disappeared. And, no, I don’t miss eating dairy products as all I see now is an ecstatic and a playful child.
I am glad that I took a stance and worked towards kicking off Mr R from baby’s bum.
Cow Milk Protein Allergy
CMPA, in layman terms, is nothing but a reaction to the protein found in cow milk by the immune system. The reaction can cause an injury to the stomach and intestines. Do not mix it up with lactose intolerance.
Symptoms of CMPA are very diverse; skin rash, vomiting, abdominal pain, blood in stool and diarrhoea to name a few.
Diagnosis - You should see a doctor if your child has any of the above symptoms. Also, the doctor would see the child’s condition once you are put on an elimination diet.
This is how I shooed away Mr R from Baby A's bum. Have you heard about CMPA?

How does a mommy manage twins alone. Is it okay not to have any help?
Oh,how are you managing twins when it is a roller coaster ride for me taking care one my little ONE.
You have bumper offer,it is exciting right ?
How do you feed both at once,do they sleep at same time?
Like any other mom of twins,I went through all these questions and many more.
First three months ...
Life was never tough than this stage.Bejng a new mum and blessed with two, happiness must overpower every bit of toughness but believe me it surely is difficult with feeding two, getting their sleep routine set, understand their gas, hunger, sleep problems etc.Thank god first few months babies are mom fed with her milk, this alone gives so much positivity about babies health to mom.
If you are not breastfeeding,DONOT be guilty of giving formula milk.IT IS OK.
Believe me,for all the tough times ,for all sleepless times and all the dietary you couldn't give now,you will surely compensate it later.
Four to Eight months...
You actually wait for this stage because many say babies will understand sleep routine after three months. It didn't happen with me.I had to make both of them sleep thrice a day plus night which is 8 times and soothing them, music, milk nothing made them sleep themselves,I HAD TO make them sleep somehow. And of course feed both one after the other every two hours. Then people said, every difficulty you are undergoing now will disappear once they turn one year .
Then my babies starting communicating,aaaa-uuuu-hehehe etc and started smiling ,this is when I started enjoying all my tough time.
This stage ,a big relief to mums but never knew that's one more challenging task,INTRODUCING SOLID FOOD.I thought it's a relief when I stop running ,carrying one after the other kid for breastfeed if I introduce solid food(solids stay for longer time in their small tummy than milk obviously, mum have some buffer time with this ).
Here, started all kinds of sounds from my house ,my dad turns on the musical toys, entertains them while I feed each baby, what is challenging is not making them eat but to make them stay still so mum can feed.Arghh!! Ooph !!
8 months to 15 months ...
Oh wow, however difficult it is,you definitely enjoy those moments when your babies with their tiny little feet tries to walk.Mum is a great singer at this stage, and you surely be a big fan of rhymes than your child because you start enjoying them more.See your baby clapping her hands while you sing and not to forget, how proud daddy is when he tells about all the things his baby does to his friends and family(mum,be proud ,u taught your baby all of that ).
There are milestones, there is difficulty with two .With time definitely everything will be okay because ,Oh,mom,it is you afterall and babies know that one thing.Mommy will surely figure out a way.
Every kid is different and experience with every kid to a mom is different,so is the effort you put in and the happiness they bring is all different. Read more

Taking Your Toddler's Help To Sort Laundry
Still wondering how to get your child to help in laundry? These hacks show how toddlers love to waddle through piles of clothes, sort them as per color, and push clothes into the machine too. With encouragement and right learning processes in place, this can be a fun skill.
Toddlers begin learning at home by observing their parents go about their daily chores. Involving themselves in the day-to-day functions of a household bolsters a child's self-relevance and makes them feel wanted, competent, and responsible. Get your kids involved in chores by teaching them day-to-day tasks like looking after their toys, tidying up their room, or getting the laundry done.
How Toddlers can Help with Laundry
1. Start them young
As a parent, you do everything for your child and it's easy to continue doing so. But the question is till when? If you want to turn your child into a responsible adult, then you need to teach her to do simple things on her own, including laundry. So, try to explain why clothes get soiled and need to be washed regularly. A visit to the local mart will introduce her to detergents, clothes brushes, fabric softeners, etc. Once through, grab 2-3 soiled clothes and offer a ‘hand– washing’ demo to make her understand the basic laundry processes in easy-to-perform ways.
2. Make them a Part of the Process
The first step is to teach her to separate white clothes from the darker ones. Tell them to also check pockets for change or tissues, match socks, and close up the zippers of pants and jackets. You can teach your toddler to fold dry laundry by starting with easy clothes like towels and washcloth. Ask your child to help you hang clothes for drying too. Teaching toddlers to help with laundry requires a lot of patience and diligence, but then, it's worth the cause.
3. Make Laundry Fun
Ask your toddler to collect all her doll clothes so that she can wash them. Imagine the excitement when you show her how to hand-wash delicate items in a sink full of soapy water. It's a game your toddler will love to indulge in. While running your kiddo’s bath, add some stuffed toys and ask her to give them a bath too. Hallelujah! Her toys will be clean much before she is ready to be wrapped in her cute fluffy towel.
4. Encourage the Smallest Effort
Appreciate every small effort that your toddler puts in to help you, it'll encourage her to be more helpful. The “I can’t do it” will change to “I will do it” with just a little appreciation from your end. Help her to be more responsible and energetic by getting her involved on all laundry days. Very soon, you will be able to conquer that mountain of dirty clothes at the end of the week, without any hassle.
So, are you ready to spend time with your little one by keeping her busy and teaching her a super useful life skill? Start today! Read more

5 Sensible Hacks to Get a Stunning Shoe-Rack
Storing your entire footwear collection in the closet can make it space-starved for apparel and accessories. So, should you buy extra closets to place your shoes? Not at all! With these creative shoe storage ideas, you can organise your footwear in affordable yet efficient style without the extra cost.
Sports shoes, dress shoes, school shoes, flip-flops, rain shoes...these are just a few types of footwear that you have to deal with. Struggling to stow them away so you get a modicum of neatness is every mom's bane. If you always have to contend with too many shoes and not enough space, even after chucking junk shoes, it's time to come up with space-saving shoe storage ideas that work for both small and large homes.
Creative Homes for Your Footwear
1. Floating Shoe Racks
Shoe racks are affordable and convenient solutions to tackle shoe storage woes. You can install a floating shoe rack or two in your bedroom. This beats standing racks that take up much more space. If you don't really like the idea of displaying your shoes for everyone to see, install the rack in a niche and cover the space with a pretty curtain. Try gluing multiple PVC cells to create a pipe shoe rack. You can spruce it up further by painting it in vivid colours.
2. Peek-a-Boo! Shoe Storage Solutions Under The Bed
There's plenty of space under the bed that's not fully tapped. If your children sleep on individual beds, you can ask them to store their shoes beneath them. While they could use the original shoeboxes, it'll be easier to access them from shoe organiser boxes that can slide right under. Another clever shoe storage idea is to attach shoe pouches beneath bedskirts. Nobody will ever know your storage secret but you'll have everyone wondering how you manage to keep your house so neat!
3. Get Shoe Wheels
You can save everyone from tripping over shoes by designating a specific shoe storage place for every family member and setting up shoe wheels. This creative shoe storage idea is often missed even though it's perfect for fitting into small corners. You can also get half wheels if one wheel will take too much space or buy both full and half wheels to place in different sized niches.
4. Try Shelves and Bags
Invest in wall-mounted shelves to flaunt your designer shoes. For a budget storage idea, you can hang economical shoe organiser bags on your bedroom wall. If you have any extra towel rods lying around, just mount them on a wall to hang up your heels, according to colour.
5. Vintage Shoe Storage!
Do you have any old ladders or wood crates lying around? You can upcycle them to create chic vintage-inspired shoe storage spaces. Those gorgeous heels that you take out only on special occasions can be hung on a painted ladder for quick access. If you have more space to spare, a wooden crate with a cover can make for a fine storage unit. You can even ask your little ones to paint pretty things on it and add a few cute stickers.
You can now create ample footwear space for everyone at home with these easy shoe storage solutions. Your children will find it easier than ever to keep their shoes where they belong and you'll have less of a headache trying to tidy up all the time. Enjoy a tumble and stumble-free home for you've earned it! Read more
