7 Best Running Games for Kids
Most kids like to run naturally, but having them run around a track just for the sake of exercise takes away the fun. Therefore coming up with organized games that will let them run around is a great way to get your kids do some exercise.
Why Should You Encourage Your Child to Run?
Running is good for health and kids love it. But there are many benefits of it. Know what they are:
Running is fun! Kids love to run especially when they run in a group. Running is not only a result of unbridled joy but also leads to it. So why not harness the energy and channel it into an activity?
Running is inexpensive, unlike other high energy sports. All the kids need are a good pair of running shoes and no other fancy equipment or class enrollment.
Running is the easiest sport out there. There are no rules to adhere to, except for some general safety and etiquette. All they have to do is stay in the lane, tie their shoelaces and run once they are asked to do so.
Running is the most basic movement involved in many other sports. So being a good runner helps kids build the core muscles involved in other sports and excel in them too.
Anybody can run. Kids who are reluctant to play other games can find running well within their comfort zones. There is no competition, just running at their own pace is all that’s needed.
Marathon running and sprints are some great example to show to children and develop their interest in running. It teaches them endurance and perseverance.
Running Games for Children
Here are some outdoor running games for kids that you can try:
1. Capture the Flag
This is a great game that works on team effort and involves plenty of running. It’s best when there are 8 or more kids and a big ground available.
How To Play
Divide the children into two teams with equal players. Mark the centre of the field with several cones or other markers and plant flags of two different colours belonging to each team on opposite sides of the field such that the flags are at least 50ft from the centre. When the whistle is blown the kids rush to opposite side to grab the other team’s flag. If a player gets tagged on the opponent’s side of the field, they go to jail (a designated spot on the field away from the game). The jailed player can only be back in the game when a teammate frees them.
2. Where to Run Next?
This is quite an intensive running game and all that’s needed are pieces of paper with run-to locations written on them.
How To Play
The game has to be played outdoors, preferably around large parks that have plenty of locations to choose from or in school premises. The coach or an adult supervising the game writes the names of different locations and landmarks in the vicinity such as a fountain, equipment shed, flower garden, sandpit and so on. The papers are put in a bag so that no one can see them. One kid pulls out a paper randomly and reads out the location. Then all the players have to run to the location. Once everybody reaches the location, another kid pulls out a paper and reads out the next location and everybody run there.
3. Candy Hunting Game
A fun running game for young children that involves retrieving candies.
How To Play
Take the kids out to an open field and spread out lots of individually wrapped candies on the grass. The game is to run from the starting point, find a candy and run back with it. The kids are allowed to come back with only one candy at a time and drop it at the starting line. Once they have done that, they can run back to get another candy. The kid who brings back the most candies wins the game.
4. The Puzzle Game
The game involves the thrill of hunting packages containing puzzle pieces and finally putting together the puzzle.
How To Play
A large floor puzzle containing about 40 pieces or so is put into several envelopes and placed at different distances from the base. When the whistle is blown the kids run to find and retrieve one envelope at a time back to the base. They need to run several trips to different locations to collect all the envelopes. Finally, the pieces are put together to complete the puzzle.
5. Water Balloon Relay
Water games are always a fun. And, any game involving water balloons is a blast! For this one, you’ll need plenty of water balloons and a bucket to hold them.
How To Play
The game is played similar to a normal relay, except, using sloshy water balloons instead of batons. The kids have to run fast while balancing the balloon, careful not to drop it. If one is dropped, they can run back to the bucket and pick up and other one and get back to the place where they dropped it to continue the run. The winning team gets one water balloon for each runner and 30 seconds to soak the losing team.
6. Marathon Challenge
Long distance runners start out young.
How To Play
Children are not physically equipped to run as far as 10 or 20km in one stretch. Therefore the distance is broken down into segments that can be achieved every day. Keep a distance log for each child and let them run as far as they can each day. As they reach levels such as 3 or 5Km, give them levels of experience like in martial arts. 2km can be a white belt, 4 km - a yellow and so on. When the marathon is complete, give them a marathon challenge T-shirt.
7. Sharks and Minnows
A fun running game where kids have to run while avoiding getting tagged.
How To Play
The kids are split into two groups and start out from either side of the field. In the centre of the field is one kid who is a shark, the rest are minnows. When the whistle is blown, the minnows sprint across the field to reach the opposite side without getting tagged by the shark. If a minnow is tagged, it becomes a shark and goes after other minnows. The last minnow remaining is the winner.
Running games not only boost physical fitness levels of kids but are also fun and enriching as they learn to play as a team and adhere to rules.
Running games help kids work on their physical strength, body mobility, and endurance level; and are PERFECT for body smart-oriented kids. If you want to know more about your child’s other ‘smarts’ and make sure that his development is taking in all sense, do try FirstCry Intellikit - active learning for little ones.

Hearing Loss in Children
Hearing ability is of utmost importance for the development of speech and language skills in a child. In the earlier times it was very difficult to detect hearing loss in children. However, with advanced medical science and technology hearing loss in children can be detected at an early stage. If you feel that your child may have a hearing problem, you should get immediate medical help to avoid any complications. Here is all that you need to know about hearing loss in children and how you can effectively manage this medical condition!
How Common is Hearing Loss in Kids?
Hearing loss in children can occur due to various reasons but 60 percent of it is because of preventable causes. As per the recent study conducted by WHO on deafness and hearing loss, around 360 million people across the world have hearing problems and out of this population 32 million are children. These figures state that over 5 percent of the entire world population suffer from hearing disabilities.
Are Hearing Loss and Deafness Same?
Hearing loss or deafness is when a person is not able to hear sounds partially or completely. Hearing loss is when the child is not able to hear sounds below a certain decibel (25 decibels or more). The child may have mild, moderate or profound hearing loss. If a child is unable to comprehend or listen to normal conversations then it may be a case of mild or profound hearing loss. Sometimes the milder cases of hearing loss may become profound hearing loss. A child with a profound hearing loss is not able to hear from both the ears and use sign language for communication. However, deafness can be classified into three categories:
1. Pre-Lingual Deafness
Loss of hearing ability before the child could speak or understand words
2. Post-Lingual Deafness
Loss of hearing ability after the child could speak and understand words.
3. Unilateral or Bilateral Deafness
If hearing impairment is in one ear it is called unilateral deafness and when it is both ears, it is called bilateral deafness.
Types of Child Hearing Loss
Hearing loss can be broadly classified into following categories:
1. Auditory Processing Disorder
Auditory processing disorder is a condition where the brain is unable to process or convert the speech or words into meaningful messages. The person with this disorder may find it difficult to comprehend the source of the sound.
2. Conductive Hearing Loss
Conductive hearing loss is a condition where the body’s ability to conduct sound waves is hampered. This disruption results when passage of the sound waves is affected in the ear canal. In children otitis media, which is the inflammation of the middle ear, is the most common type of conductive hearing loss. This type of hearing disability in children affects the hearing quality, which means your child may find it difficult to hear few sounds frequencies.
3. Sensorineural Hearing Loss
This type of hearing loss results from the problem in the inner ear. Sensorineural hearing loss is when the inner ear or the inner ear nerves are damaged and the child may find it difficult to hear dim sounds. This is a kind of permanent hearing loss that may result from head injury, serious illness, genetic factors or ill-effects of medicines.
4. Mixed Hearing Loss
In case where conductive hearing loss and sensorineural hearing loss occur at the same time, it is called mixed hearing loss. This may happen when the middle as well as the inner ear of the child gets damaged resulting in hearing disability. This condition may result from a chronic ear infection that may infect the middle and the inner ear.
Apart from the above mentioned categories, hearing loss can also be categorized into high frequency hearing loss and low frequency hearing loss.
5. High Frequency Hearing Loss
This type of hearing loss occurs when the child has difficulty in hearing sounds within 2000 to 8000 hertz. This type of hearing loss may result from genetic factors, exposure to loud sounds, certain illnesses, side effects of medicines etc.
6. Low Frequency Hearing Loss
When there is a problem in hearing sounds below 2000 hertz or below than that, it is called low frequency hearing loss. Sensorineural hearing loss may hamper the child to hear low frequency sounds.
Causes of Childhood Hearing Loss
There can be many causes of childhood hearing loss; some of the causes are as follows:
1. Causes of Congenital Hearing Loss
Congenital hearing loss is a hearing loss that is present at the birth. This loss can be because of genetic or non-genetic reasons. Some of the non-genetic causes can be:
Alcohol or smoking in pregnancy
Diabetes in pregnancy
Infection in pregnancy (German measles, Herpes simplex, toxoplasmosis etc.)
Brain or nervous disorder in the baby
Premature birth
Low birth weight
Birth traumas or injuries
The possibility of non-genetic factors causing hearing loss in babies in only 25 percent, however the possibility of babies born with hearing disability at birth due to genetic factors is up to 50 percent. Some of the genetic causes can be following:
Autosomal recessive hearing loss may occur when the child gets the recessive or abnormal gene from the parents. Autosomal recessive hearing loss constitutes 70 percent of all genetic hearing loss cases.
Autosomal dominant hearing loss may occur when the defective or abnormal gene from one of the parents with hearing disability may gets passed on to the child. This kind of hearing loss occurs in 15 percent of the genetic hearing loss cases.
Though the above mentioned genetic and non-genetic causes may result in congenital hearing loss but the cause of some of the cases of hearing loss at birth may be difficult to establish.
2. Causes of Transient Hearing Loss
Transient hearing loss may be caused due to infection in the middle ear or otitis media. Otitis media is a very common type of infection in young children due to the positioning of Eustachian tube, at this stage. This tube is smaller and horizontal during the developmental stage thus may cause blockages and infections. This type of hearing loss is temporary and heals on its own but if the reoccurring infection goes untreated, it may damage the eardrum, bones, and auditory nerves.
3. Causes of Acquired Hearing Loss
This type of hearing loss is not present from the birth rather it is acquired after the birth. Following are some of the causes that may result in acquired hearing loss in infants:
Diseases such as whooping-cough, mumps, measles and meningitis.
Perforated ear drum
Injury or trauma on the head
Ill-effects of certain medicines
Ear infections
Exposure to loud noises
Hearing loss in children may occur in any age. Some children may also experience sudden hearing loss, though this is not very common but it may result from the damage to the inner ear, outer part of the ear or the entire ear.
Symptoms of Hearing Loss in a Child
1. General Signs
If your child appears to be inattentive
If your child has speech or speaking disability
If your child has difficulty in learning (not been able to listen in the class)
If your child gives weird or irrelevant answers
If your child has a habit of bending towards the person who is talking, to be able to listen carefully
If your child speaks loudly
If your child tries to read your lips while having a conversation with you
If your child experiences ear pain or hears unusual noises
2. Signs of Hearing Loss in Babies
If your baby does not feel startled at loud noises
If your baby does not respond to the source of sound (after 6 months of age)
If your baby respond to some sounds but not all sounds
If your baby reacts after seeing you but not to your voice
If your baby is unable to babble single syllables (by 1 year of age)
3. Signs of Hearing Loss in Children
If your child’s speech is not clear
If your child’s speech is delayed
If your child is unable to follow instructions
If your child turns up the TV’s volume too high
If your child often requests you to repeat what you said
Though every baby or child is different, however, they are expected to reach a certain benchmark at a certain age. If you find that your child is missing that, you need to get in touch with your doctor as it may be a sign of hearing disability.
Diagnosis of Childhood Hearing Loss
Following measures may be adopted to diagnose hearing loss in babies and young children:
1. Birth to Four Months
Your baby should respond to loud noises
Your baby should respond or react to your voice (by smiling or cooing)
You baby should wake up or startle at high pitched noises
2. Four to Nine Months
Your baby should smile or react when spoken to
Your baby should turn head at various sounds
Your baby should turn head to the toys that make sound
Your baby should reciprocate or understand hand movements (like bye or hi)
3. Nine to Fifteen Months
Your baby should respond to the name
Your baby should repeat common words
Your baby should make babbling sounds
Your baby should understand common words
Your baby should use voice to get parent’s attention
4. Fifteen to Twenty Four Months
You baby should be able to follow simple instruction
Your baby should be able to say simple words
Your baby should name common objects
Your baby should be able to point to various body parts when asked to do so
Your baby may point to familiar objects when you ask
Your baby may listen to songs and rhymes
However, the auditory screening test can be done once:
When the child stats going to school
When the child is 6, 8 or 10 years old
When the child in middle school
When the child is in high school
Following are some of the test that may be recommended for the babies and children to diagnose hearing loss:
Auditory brainstem response
Central auditory evoked potential
Otoacoustic emissions
Middle ear muscle reflex
Tympanometry
Treatment for Children with Hearing Loss
The treatment for hearing loss in children varies according to the severity and symptoms. Based on this, your doctor may advise following treatment option:
1. Medicines
If the hearing loss is due to the infection in the ear, the doctor may prescribe antibiotics to cure the infection that may be the cause of hearing problem in the child.
2. Hearing Aids
If the child is suffering from sensorineural hearing loss, then your doctor may recommend hearing aids for the child, as medicines or surgery will not able to cure this kind of hearing loss.
3. Surgery
If the child is experiencing hearing loss due to blockage or wax in the ear, surgery may be prescribed to cure this kind of temporary hearing loss.
4. Cochlear Implants
If the child is facing deafness or profound hearing loss, the doctor may recommend these implants. These are surgically implanted to convert the sounds into the electronic impulses which then get transferred through the inner ear.
5. Speech Therapy
If the hearing loss has affected the speech or speaking skills of the child, the doctor may advise for speech therapy after the child gets the cochlear implants or hearing aids.
If the child is suffering from otitis media, the doctor may advise you to wait because this condition usually gets better on its own after a certain time.
Prevention
Hearing loss (acquired hearing loss) can be prevented. Here’s how you can effectively prevent hearing loss in children:
Do not expose your child to loud noises or sounds at an early stage. This may damage the child’s eardrums.
Refrain your child from using headphones or earphones (till 6 to 7 years of age)
Make use of earplugs or ear protectors whenever exposing your child to loud noises or sounds (music concerts, live matches or other such events)
Do not let your child play with very small toys that your child may accidentally put into the ear.
Refrain from watching TV or listening to music at high volume
Tips for Parents
Here are some tips for parents of a child with hearing disability or loss:
If any symptoms or signs of hearing loss in a child are established, it is suggested to seek immediate medical help to avoid any further complications and get timely medical treatment.
If the child is facing deafness or total hearing loss, it will be a good idea to make the child learn sign language.
You may enrol the child in special educational institutes or school that specializes in imparted education to children with hearing disabilities.
It is very important to lend emotional and social support to the child to deal with hearing loss.
Timely medical intervention may prove to be extremely beneficial in case of a child as well as paediatric hearing loss.
Hearing loss can affect your child in more than one ways; therefore it is of utmost importance that you get medical help as soon as you register any signs of hearing loss in your child. Proper medical guidance and support will help you deal with this problem effectively.

It's True that You Never Understand Life until It Grows Inside You
As a PCOD patient, I suffered weight gain, hirsutism, mood swings and the most heartbreaking miscarriage. Yes, I lost my first pregnancy due to PCOD and with that also lost my hope of becoming a mother. After some years of marriage when you dont become a mother, in-laws start taunting for no reason then I decided to do anything to lose weight and the journey of motherhood started from here only. I joined yoga and followed strict diets and with proper medication, I conceived but by the end of pregnancy, the doctor started saying that I was somthing abnormal and my tummy position was awkward, asked me whether I have fabrioid or not, then she said I have a tumor and I became very sad. I did exercises throughout the journey but it didn’t help me. I still remember when at 3 am my water broke at home and with that turmoil of blood came and I was screaming with pain. When we reached the hospital, they said I have a history of water leakage and they may took me for C-section but initially they tried for normal delivery and they gave me injection shots of pain. The pain was unverifiable so I had epidural but my LO heartbeats went low and ob gyno said my uterus can’t bear more pain, so they took me for operation and they gave me local anesthesia and i vomited in OT. When they started cutting the side I started feeling cut. I felt the pain of cutting, I tried shouting but couldn’t gain energy to shout out loud and started throwing my hands, then they gave me full anesthesia and I dont remember what happened after that. When I woke up, they were shifting me in ICU and I asked, "baby hogaya kya?", they smiled and said "madam baby boy hua h". I thanked my god but when I came into my room from the ICU, I got to know that he had abnormal head due to tremendous pressure, his head had swollen badly and he caught an infection from me. I was crying because my baby was in NICU and I was blaming myself for everything but slowly my baby and I recovered. My husband showed me his pics and was crying seeing my bundle of joy that came into his life from me. After 2 days they handed over my baby to me. When I saw my baby first time, he was soooo delicate and soft. I was so afraid of touching him. When I fed him for the first time and he touched me with his tiny tiny hands, I forgot all my pain. He is a very healthy child. I wish he gets all the happiness in life and thank god for making me his mother. ?????

Meet the Sun in Style With the Perfect Pair of Sunglasses
You know summer has finally hit town when the harsh glaring sun-rays make you squint every time you step out. Protect and smarten up your eyes by picking out glasses for your face shape. Now you’re ready to beat the heat and look great while doing it!
Nothing spells summer quite like a pair of sunglasses. Oval, cat eye, rectangle, or plain round - there are a million shapes you can try out. While we crush on the latest sunglasses trends and can't wait to flaunt one, it's folly to think every style we lay our eyes on will suit us. In reality, choosing the perfect glasses for your face shape is a tricky business. Understanding what style looks best on your eyes has a lot to do with the shape of your face.
Figure out The Geometry of Your Face
If you're wondering how to find the right sunglasses for your face shape, you must start off by identifying the shape first! Keep a notepad handy to jot down the measurements as you find the distance between your cheekbones, the length of your jaw line and face, and the width of your forehead. Depending on what your measurements are you will be a round, heart, oval, or square face shape. Here are a few thumbrules to guide you:
You know you’re blessed with a heart shaped face if your jaw line is the narrowest point.
Your face is a cute round if you have wide cheekbones with a narrow jaw line and forehead.
Does your face have more length than width? It is then a stylish oval.
If you have wide cheekbones and forehead as well as a strong jaw, your face is a square-shaped beauty.
Choosing The Perfect Sunglasses for your Face Shape
Some designs in sunglasses work for all face shapes. For instance, you can try the metallic, unisex aviators that shot to fame with Tom Cruise’s Top Gun. Oversized butterfly frames also work for a lot of women as they cover most of the face - a perfect choice to protect from both the sun and nosy friends enquiring about your dark circles! However, it is a good idea to get a pair tailor-made for your face shape and say hello to summer like never before.
1. The Heart-Shaped Diva
Experts advise the aviator range as the best bet for women with this face shape. While a rounded silhouette or cat-eye sunglasses will compliment your face, oversized aviators can give the appearance of dragging the face down! When in doubt, pick frames that have a wider top than bottom.
2. Playing it Fair and Square
The strong facial structure of a square-shaped face can be offset with rounded or slightly curved silhouettes. The rounded edges soften your sharp angular features. The best glasses for your face shape will be those with soft lines or rimless edges.
3. The Curvy Belle
Are you confused about how to know what sunglasses suit your face? Fear not! According to fashion experts, a round-faced belle can use the angular lines of square frames to add definition to her visage. Aviators, wayfarers, and rectangular frames will make your face look sharper and thinner.
4. The Proportionate Shape
Did you know that picking out glasses for your face shape is probably the easiest of the lot? Your face shape will look enviably good no matter what type of sunglasses you choose! You're one lucky lady! There is no going wrong for you, except if you pick up a really oversized or uncomfortable pair of sunglasses.
Sunglasses are a summer essential not just to keep you protected from the sun but also super stylish. While the right sunglasses can help set off your killer looks, the wrong one can end up being a disaster. Now that you have figured out the style that will look best on you, there’s nothing to keep you indoors! Step out and give your eyes the perfect protection whilst staying spot-on trend. Read more

How To Teach Preschoolers To Master Rhyme and Rhythm
Teaching rhyme and rhythm is one of the best ways to inculcate basic phonemic awareness skills in your preschoolers. Learning rhyme not only helps your toddler to identify and form new rhyming words, it also helps him isolate sounds in the words and understand how different sounds frame the words. This understanding is important as it helps your kid a lot when he learns to write. So if you are planning to teach your kindergartener rhymes and looking for some of the best sources and tips for the same, look no further. Here, we list some easy yet effective tips to help you teach your little one rhyme and rhythm. Read on to discover all about it.
3 Important Stages Of Learning And Mastering Rhymes And Rhythms
Your preschooler can’t just jump to reciting rhymes. A toddler goes through these three stages that help him learn and master simplest to hardest rhymes. Those three crucial stages include:
1. Listening to rhyme
Your toddler listens to the rhyme repeatedly.
2. Identifying the rhyme
Your preschooler begins to recognize two similar sounding words i.e. rhyming words.
3. Producing the rhyme
Your kid thinks and comes up with rhyming words.
5 Helpful Tips To Teach Your Preschooler To Master Rhyme And Rhythm
1. Recite Rhymes Frequently
Repetition is the key to teach rhymes to your toddler. Recite some interesting rhymes and rhyming songs to your preschooler, and he will find them fun to learn. Sit in the front of your preschooler, recite a nursery rhyme, act some words of the rhyme, clap your hands, and encourage your kid to recite the rhyme after you. Make the recitation of the rhymes part of your kid’s regular learning and it will help develop fundamental phonological awareness skill in your kindergartner.
2. Play Nursery Rhymes On A Music Player
Record some fun nursery rhymes and play them on a music player when you and your preschooler are traveling via car and while your toddler is playing around in the house. Repeated listening to a played rhyme and rhythm will motivate your toddler to recite the rhyme on his own.
3. Let Your Kid Find Rhyming Words
Once your preschooler gets well-acquainted with a nursery rhyme after listening to it plenty of times, recite it by pausing at rhyming words. Encourage your kindergartner to come up with the rhyming word as you pause.
4. Read Out Rhyming Picture Books
Picture books are a great attraction for preschoolers. So, gift your kindergartner a rhyming picture book and read out rhyming words and rhyming songs from the book over and over again. Soon, your toddler will learn words that rhyme with one another and recite simple rhymes.
5. Make A Rhyming Chain
Form a group of six to seven preschoolers and make them sit in a circle. Provide a word to the first child and other kids in the circle should come up with a word, which rhymes with the first word, one-by-one in turn. For instance, if you provide the word ‘Bat’ to a child in the circle, the kid to his right should come up with word ‘Hat’, and kid next to him should say ‘Cat’, and so on in a circular order. When the preschoolers run out of rhyming words or say an improper word, the chain is broken. You can then start a new round.
Similarly, preschoolers can recite rhyming songs in rhythm that they have learnt. First kid should recite the first line of the rhyming song; and the next child should recite the next line. Likewise, complete the rhyming poetry in a rhythm. If a kid misses a line or recites an incorrect line, the rhyming chain is broken. Read more

A. For weight loss diet is good in intermittent fasting a good and but if your body is loose or you feel you really do tighten up your body then gymming or yoga both the things are going to be very good both the things are going to be helpful in tightening up your body and muscles at the same time but it is time consuming we just have to have patience
