Best Sleeping Positions during Pregnancy
A sound sleep is what all pregnant women crave, but it is often difficult to get. Sleep disturbances are not very uncommon during pregnancy, and almost all pregnant women face these sleep issues, especially as the pregnancy advances past the first trimester.
During pregnancy, getting a comfortable night’s sleep gets harder than ever due to anxiety, hormonal fluctuations, and most importantly, the physical changes. The size of your growing belly, aching back, swelling in the legs, and the urge to empty your increasingly sensitive bladder make it inconvenient to sleep comfortably in your regular sleeping position like sleeping on your back. As pregnancy progresses to the second trimester, you may find it harder to find a comfortable sleeping position. In this situation, it is natural to get worried and have questions such as how to sleep during pregnancy to get a sound sleep and whether sleeping on back in pregnancy is safe.
A good night’s sleep is essential for pregnant women. As per experts, during pregnancy, the best sleeping position is to sleep on your left side which is ideal for you as well as your baby-to-be. This position allows maximum blood flow and increases the nutrient absorption to your placenta and your baby. Sleeping on your side enhances kidney function too which aids in the elimination of waste products and reduces swelling in your feet, ankles, and hands.

Why Normal Sleeping Positions Are Uncomfortable In Pregnancy?
The usual sleeping positions, like sleeping on your belly or on your back, will get difficult as pregnancy progresses to the second and third trimesters. This is because of the discomfort caused by the increasing size of the abdomen, back pain, shortness of breath and heartburn.
What Is The Correct Sleeping Position?
During pregnancy, the correct position to sleep, without a doubt, would be to sleep on your side and that too on your left side. The largest vein supplying blood to the heart is located on the right side, so sleeping on your left side is recommended. The ideal position is to lie on your left side with knees bent and pillows between your legs.
Experts advise that keeping a pillow behind your back and under your belly will give you optimal sleep with less strain. It is recommended to wear loose and comfortable clothing in a breathable fabric like cotton while sleeping.
Which Sleeping Position To Avoid While Pregnant
Sleeping on your back or on your stomach should be avoided during pregnancy as it can lead to many health issues, as explained below:
While sleeping on back during pregnancy, your growing uterus presses onto your spine, the muscles of your back, your intestines, and also your blood vessels, especially the inferior vena cava (this is the vein which brings blood back from your lower body up to your heart). This can decrease the blood circulation to your heart and to the foetus, hindering the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the baby. This interference with circulation can also lead to hypotension (low blood pressure) and swelling.
In addition to circulation problems, back sleeping can aggravate backaches and contribute to the development of haemorrhoids, varicose veins, and shortness of breath. It can also make digestion less efficient.
As the pregnancy progresses, the increasing size of the abdomen and tenderness in the breasts make it almost impossible to sleep on your stomach.
Tips To Be Comfortable While Sleeping
Listed below are a few other positioning tips for safe and comfortable sleep during pregnancy.
Keeping your legs and knees bent with a pillow between your legs and another pillow behind your back will give more belly and back support.
If you experience heartburn, it is very helpful to lie on your back almost in a half-seated position, with some soft fluffy pillows propped up behind you.
For relief from back pain, sleeping on your side with a pillow under your abdomen will help.
In case you are experiencing shortness of breath in the later stages of pregnancy, try lying on your side and put a pillow under your side to raise your chest.
Staying in one position throughout the night is not comfortable, so shifting from side to side while favouring the left side is the best solution for a cosy sleep. If you wake up on your back or on your tummy in the middle of the night, do not panic. Just turn onto either of the sides and go back to sleep.
Pregnant women are required to take several precautions and bring about necessary changes in their lifestyle for a smooth pregnancy. Trying these new sleeping positions is just one aspect of those changes. It is normal to feel uncomfortable for a few nights or even a few weeks as the body is used to random sleeping positions. Rest assured that this will become easier as the pregnancy progresses. Give some time to your mind and body, and you will soon be able to adjust to the new positions. Read more

Brianna Name Meaning and Origin
Of Irish origin, Brianna is a feminine name, meaning 'strong,' 'virtuous,' 'honorable,' and 'resolute.' Brian gained popularity in the Middle Ages Ireland during the reign of the last High King of Eire from 1002 to 1014. He is best remembered for defeating the Vikings. The addition of double 'n's in the spelling was developed later in the 20th century as an embellishment to the simpler Briana. The name was occasionally used in England from about the 16th century onwards, while Brianna, with its Irish influence, began to be used in the United States during the 1970s.
What Does Brianna Mean?
The meaning of Brianna can be 'high,' 'honorable,' and 'virtuous' in Irish. Some etymologists believe that Brian comes from an Old Celtic-Gaelic word bright, meaning 'noble,' while 'high' comes from the ancient Celtic element 'bre,' meaning 'hill.' The Celtic meaning of the name Brianna is 'strong' or 'she ascends.' Brianna means 'daughter of God' in Hebrew.
Origin
Brianna is a modern, feminine form of Brian. Originally, Brion, the masculine name dates back to the 9th century, and forms were used in Brittany, Ireland, and England from the Norman Conquest. Historians believe it first gained prominence in the 16th century with Edmund Spenser's poem "The Faerie Queen'. This name is mainly popular among the Christians of the English-speaking world.

Travel Accessories for Women During Rains
Everyone enjoys the rains but you also worry about the damage it might cause to your hair and skin. With the occasional drizzle continuing well into September, you may want to reverse the damage! Let's see if you've got it right with our list of travel essentials for women in rainy season.
Monsoons are a much-awaited time among the young and old. The rainy season heralds a change of temperature and can urge you to hit the road and go for long drives and weekend trips. But before you strap on your backpack, there are a few travel essentials for women that you must be aware of.
Must-Have Monsoon Travel Bag Accessories for Women
1. Waterproof make-up
The last thing you want is your travel pictures highlighting running mascara and raccoon eyes. Ensure that you pack a few waterproof basics like mascaras, eyeliners and kajals as well as a stay-on lipstick or a lip balm.
2. Face tissues
Monsoons see high levels of humidity causing skin to become oily. Breakouts are also common. Moist face tissues are a must as part of travel accessories for women during monsoons. Carry a pack in your bag to pat away the oil from your face whenever you need to.
3. Hair oil
Rain water can cause dryness for some people so if you’re planning to prance around in the rain, make sure you hydrate your hair by applying hair oil for a couple of hours before washing it off with a mild shampoo.
4. Sunscreen
Many people think sunscreens are only for hot days without rain. However, the rays of the sun can damage skin in all seasons. A sunscreen is one of the must-have monsoon travel bag accessories for women. Don’t leave home without it!
5. Rain jackets and umbrellas
If you want to keep your hands free, rain jackets are a good idea, especially the hooded ones. However, it’s best to carry an umbrella along as a fallback in case the rain gets too heavy. Besides, a colourful umbrella goes a long way in adding a splash of style to your outfits.
6. Waterproof bag
You wouldn't want water streaks destroying your favourite bag, would you? One of the most important travel essentials for women in rainy season is a waterproof bag that remains protected from the rain no matter where you go.
7. Rain boots
Love splashing around in puddles? Ensure your feet are protected from germs and mud with a pair of sturdy rain boots. You can also choose rain shoes in a ballerina flat style as well as mid-tops to match different outfits.
Make the most of the rainy season while looking and feeling on top of the world with these travel tips. Enjoy the cool showers while still keeping yourself perfectly dry. Your trip will be a lot more fun when you’re prepared for anything. Read more

Is Your Happiness Just About Someone Else's Happiness Over Yours?
Sometimes, your in-laws can have too many expectations from you, and it can get stressful. You try to fit in their world so that you get a pat on the shoulder for being a good daughter in law. You worry about their opinion and go the extra mile to make sure you stay in their good books. You try every possible way to keep things the way they want you to. Well, that's a very obedient and nice daughter-in-law a family could ever have, and it's a joy you are a part of theirs.
When you were busy running errands for the family, when you were busy looking after your husband's wellbeing, when you were busy monitoring your child's activities, when you were busy ensuring your parents-in-law were doing good, and when you were busy making everyone a healthy meal, did you spare some moments to worry about your wellbeing, too?
We, sometimes, overlook our own problems and forget how to take care. It definitely is a good call to be prioritising the family, but we should realise our mental and physical wellness matters so much to run a happy family.
So, spare some time to pamper yourself by going out, have fun with friends, go dine out with your husband and children, go on a shopping spree, enjoy a vacation, make your husband make something special for you, visit the spa, hit the gym, movies, etc., or at least get some sound sleep. Get your husband to look after the child when you nap, let your parents-in-law or your older siblings or your mom be with the baby when you go out, invite friends over if you can't step out, etc. Plan a getaway if you have a better privilege.
If you can't have any of these, you are for sure stressing yourself, and your body and mind are screaming for help. No matter how much you take care of your family, a little bit of "me" is a must for a happy and healthy you.
